*         Attention all students: As the weather begins to warm up, please be advised that dress code will be strictly enforced.  Please refer to the student conduct code handbook or the dress code policy posted in the attendance office.



*         Locker Rooms: No loitering in or near the locker rooms before school, during class time and after school.



*         Reminder students: The upstairs 300's are off limits during lunch time.



*         Attention all students:  As a reminder students are responsible for any personal items that are brought to school and assume all liability for any of those items if they become damaged, lost or stolen.

*         Attention Skateboard Riders: Please lock your skateboards inside of the skateboard racks that are located in the front of the school. You will need to bring your own lock. Skateboards are NOT allowed on campus. Reminder: Please remove your bike and skateboard locks off the racks when you leave.  There is no saving lockers or racks for the next day.



*         Attention all students - Come by the Miner Emporium (student store) and check out the new gear. We have beanies, bucket hats, hoodies and t-shirt with our new logo. Get them while supplies last.

*        Attention all students:  The beanie period has officially ended as of March 1st. Beanies were allowed during the colder months from November 1st to March 1st.





STUDENT NOTES




*         Attention all Students:  Students participating in school sports next year may have a physical done at school on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 for only $2.00!  Physicals are mandatory every year for students participating in athletics.  This physical will qualify for next school year, 2017-2018.
To participate in this program:

1.       Pick up forms from Coach starting the last week of April

2.       Complete the information- including parent signatures

3.       A fee of $2.00 is requested to cover the cost of medical supplies.

4.       Return the forms and $2.00 to the school nurse no later than FRIDAY, MAY 12th.   No late sign-ups will be accepted.


*         Attention sophomores and juniors:  Berkeley Summer Experience is coming to the Central Valley on June 25, 2017.  This is an intensive application workshop and information session.  Students can take advantage of admission workshops, meet admission officers, and learn about majors, activities and services available on campus.  Deadline is April 30, 2017.  Please see attached flyer for more information or website http://admissions.berkeley.edu/bse.



*         Attention all students:  Visalia College Fair will be on Monday, June 12, 2017 at the Visalia Convention Center.  Colleges from across the state and country will be in attendance to discuss how to make students' college aspirations a reality.  Please see attached flyer for more information and where to register.



*         Attention all students:  Sadie's pictures are in and may be picked up in room 601 before school, lunch and after school until 3:30pm.


*         Attention all students:  This is a reminder to not park in designated visitor parking as this is reserved for individuals visiting our campus. Thank you for your help in the matter!

*         XL Culinary Art with Mrs. Lugo.  Starts today and will run every Monday from 4:00-6:00 pm in room 504.  Students will receive a food handler's certification and learn to cook amazing food.

Loitering Policy

Specific areas where student loitering is prohibited:

1.       Parking lots, Restrooms (Students are not allowed to go to their vehicle and retrieve items during class time)

2.       Playing fields outside the gated area (unless under adult supervision)

3.       Bicycle/skateboard racks

4.       Front of the school on Whitendale Avenue

5.       Bus drop off lane on Crenshaw Street

6.       On school grounds after school hours unless in a supervised activity or classroom

*         ATTENTION SENIORS:  Fashion Club is offering two scholarships.  For more information contact Ms. Rios Room 607.



*          ATTENTION SENIORS:  Jostens will be here on Wednesday April 19th to deliver caps and gown during homeroom.  Please report to your homeroom first for further instructions on the process for picking up your graduation items.  Reminder:  Must bring your student ID to verify the products they picked up match your name.



*         STEM Majors:  COS is offering a program for current high school seniors that are planning to attend COS in the Summer/Fall as a STEM major.  For qualified candidates, the realm program will offer guaranteed placement in critical math and science courses as well as structured support and tutoring.  Please see the attached flyer for more information on eligibility and how to apply for the program.


*         ATTENTION SENIORS: Have questions about Fresno State?  Sign up in Student Services to speak with a Fresno State Ambassador!

CLUB NOTES




*         Future Teacher Club: Swing by the cafeteria during homeroom to pick up a Linwood Elementary class visit permission form or to turn in the signed forms to Mrs. Neufeld. We are having two more opportunities next week on 4/25 and 4/26.



*         ASL club meets every other Wednesday in room 365 during lunch.

*         Christian Club will meet every Monday at lunch in room 354.

*         Key Club meets in room 604 each week on Wednesdays. Grab your lunch and join us to find out about service opportunities for our school and community.

*         Fashion Club members the XL program Quilt class is now open on Fridays. Starting this semester the class will be on Mondays and Fridays. Come join us create quilts for the Valley Children Hospital. Everyone is welcome to help us!

PARENT NOTES






*         Attention Parents of Juniors:  There will be representatives from the UC and CSU admissions offices to answer questions on the FAFSA application, there will also be an outreach specialist from COS's Financial Aid Office on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at 6:00pm at the VUSD Office Boardroom at 5000 W. Cypress Avenue.  Please contact Paige Loverin or Ben Bolin at 730-7449.



*         Attention Parents:  We are seeking volunteers to assist at El Diamante High School sports physicals on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 in the gymnasium.  Physicals will be held from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm.  Volunteers are needed to help with check-in/out, assisting the doctors at various stations, and small gift donations (coffee gift cards, etc.) for appreciation gift bags for approximately 10 doctors.  We need 8-10 volunteers.  El D shirts/gear will be provided by our Athletic Department in appreciation for your service.  The students, their parents and the EDHS staff truly appreciate the donation of your time towards the youth of our community.  Athletic participation helps keep our youth involved in positive ways.  Thank you for your help.  Please call Jerri Corona, School Nurse if you can volunteer@ 735-3520, asap.

*         The Miner Foundation Dinner and Auction will be held on Saturday, May 6 at 6:00 pm at the Visalia Elks Lodge. This is a major fundraiser for the Miner Foundation. Since 2006, the Miner Foundation has awarded over $130,000 in scholarships to El Diamante students.  All proceeds from the Dinner and Auction go directly toward supporting the mission of the Foundation.  Stay tuned for more information about tickets.  If you would like to sponsor a table or donate an item for the silent or live auction, please contact the El Diamante office. Thank you for your generous support of our El Diamante community.
