*         This message is to update on the solar project. The project  has begun and will continue throughout the Spring Semester. The East side of parking will be unavailable starting March 6th, 2017 and student parking will shift to the West side. Parking will be less available during construction. Please be proactive in arriving early and dropping off students on West Whitendale Ave drop off points.  We appreciate all your support in the matter..



*         Academic Awards Night will be held on Monday, March 6, 2017 at 6:30 p.m. in the El Diamante Gym.  We would like to recognize the students who have earned a place at this year's Academic Awards Night. This annual event honors our students who have earned a weighted GPA of 3.67 or better during the 2016 spring or fall semesters, saluting them for their diligence and focus on their education. Along with individual recognition, all first-time student winners will receive a school block letter and "Academic" bar patch.  Returning student winners will be presented with a "lantern" or "4.0" patch, as appropriate.  We look forward to seeing you at this special event.



*         Locker Rooms: No loitering in or near the locker rooms before school, during class time and after school.



*         Reminder students: The upstairs 300's are off limits during lunch time.



*         Attention all students - As a reminder students are responsible for any personal items that are brought to school and assume all liability for any of those items if they become damaged, lost or stolen.

*         Attention Skateboard Riders: Please lock your skateboards inside of the skateboard racks that are located in the front of the school. You will need to bring your own lock. Skateboards are NOT allowed on campus. Reminder: Please remove your bike and skateboard locks off the racks when you leave.  There is no saving lockers or racks for the next day.



*         Beanies are allowed during the colder months from November 1st to March 1st.  They must be of a solid color with no logo or lettering; however may contain the school logo.  All approved headgear must not cover the face and shall be worn as intended to provide protection outdoors only and may not be worn indoors.  The school or district is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged headgear.

*         Attention all students - Come by the Miner Emporium (student store) and check out the new gear. We have beanies, bucket hats, hoodies and t-shirt with our new logo. Get them while supplies last.





STUDENT NOTES




*         Attention all students: The Track Team will be holding a Krispy Kreme Fundraiser to raise money. Find your nearest track athlete to place an order, or you can come to Room 608 to order from Mrs. Perez until March 17th. Doughnuts will be ready for pick up on March 25th in the El Diamante parking lot from 8am-11am.


*         Attention junior and senior girls: It's that time of year again! The ANNUAL ENCHANTED EVENING PROM DRESS event will be taking place on Saturday April 1st at the Wyndham Hotel Back Entrance (Formally known as the Visalia Holiday Inn) from 6:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. You must sign up in the Student Services Office by March 24, 2017



*         Attention all students: "Jamba Juice drinks $4 near the gym beginning at 5pm Monday March 6 until they run out."



*         Sadie Hawkin's Dance:- 'Sadie Takes a Holiday' is Saturday, March 11 at Golden West High School Gym from 8 - 11 PM! Pictures start at 5 PM. Single tickets are on sale now in the Finance Center before school, during lunch or after school for $15 w/ASB, $25 w/o, $35 at the door. A dance contract (located in Student Services Office) must be completed and submitted to Finance Office before you can purchase a ticket (if you have already signed a dance contract you are clear for the current year dances). If your date to the dance is NOT a VUSD student you must have an approved guest pass in order for your guest to attend the dance. Guest passes may be picked up in the Student Services Office and must be turned back in to Mrs. Naylor no later than Wednesday, March 8 by 3:30 pm in order to get it approved (NO LATE GUEST PASSES WILL BE APPROVED!). Remember you must be clear of all fines in order to be eligible. In addition, you must present a current valid school I.D. at the door to be admitted to the dance! No exceptions! If you do not have a current ID, please stop by the Student Services Office at lunch or after school to make one! Appropriate dancing and behavior is expected! Dress Code will be strictly enforced. Hope to see you there!



*         Attention all students:  If you are interested in learning about ASB/Student Government and Leadership opportunities there will be a meeting on March 7th at lunch and again after school in room 601. Class officer packets will be available as well as information for those students who want to enroll in the leadership class next year. If you have questions see Ms. McKee in 601.


*         Lost & Found:  An iphone was found during lunch on February 3rd.  If you lost a phone, please come  to Student Services to identify.



*         Attention all golfers:
Please save the date for the El Diamante Band Boosters annual golf tournament to be held on Saturday, April 29, at Valley Oaks Golf Course in Visalia. If you are interested in playing or
sponsoring the event, please fill out the attached flier and send it with your payment to:

*         XL Program:  Anyone interested in learning American Sign Language with Mrs. Beames.  Come after school on Fridays from 3:30-5:00 in room 365.



*         XL Program Welcome Event :   during Lunch bring a friend to learn more about what we can do for you.



*         ATTENTION JUNIORS: Your learning director Milee Vang will be available after school in the computer lab/library on these dates  to support with ACT/SAT registration, college planning resources, COS  Concurrent Application information, etc.

*         XL Culinary Art with Mrs. Lugo.  Starts today and will run every Monday from 4:00-6:00 pm in 504.  Students will receive a food handler's certification and learn to cook amazing food.



*         Hey Miners it's dancing time again! The XL program will be holding free ballroom dance lessons in the cafeteria after school on Mondays from 3:30 to 4:30. This month's dance is the waltz. Come for an hour of dance and fun. No experience necessary. See Mr. Jarocki in room 603 for details.



*         Anyone interested in pursuing a career in Agriculture?  XL will offer an AG Leadership and Career Development class after school Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30-4:30pm in Lab 62.  Any questions stop by XL and talk to Jasmine.

Loitering Policy

Specific areas where student loitering is prohibited:

1.       Parking lots, Restrooms (Students are not allowed to go to their vehicle and retrieve items during class time)

2.       Playing fields outside the gated area (unless under adult supervision)

3.       Bicycle/skateboard racks

4.       Front of the school on Whitendale Avenue

5.       Bus drop off lane on Crenshaw Street

6.       On school grounds after school hours unless in a supervised activity or classroom

CLUB NOTES






*         ASL club meets every other Wednesday in room 365 during lunch.

*         Christian Club will meet every Monday at lunch in room 354.

*         Key Club meets in room 604 each week on Wednesdays. Grab your lunch and join us to find out about service opportunities for our school and community.

*         Fashion Club members the XL program Quilt class is now open on Fridays. Starting this semester the class will be on Mondays and Fridays. Come join us create quilts for the Valley Children Hospital. Everyone is welcome to help us!

*         The Miner Foundation Dinner and Auction will be held on Saturday, May 6 at 6:00 pm at the Visalia Elks Lodge. This is a major fundraiser for the Miner Foundation. Since 2006, the Miner Foundation has awarded over $130,000 in scholarships to El Diamante students.  All proceeds from the Dinner and Auction go directly toward supporting the mission of the Foundation.  Stay tuned for more information about tickets.  If you would like to sponsor a table or donate an item for the silent or live auction, please contact the El Diamante office. Thank you for your generous support of our El Diamante community.
