*         This message is to update on the solar project. The project  has begun and will continue throughout the Spring Semester. The East side of parking will be unavailable starting March 6th, 2017 and student parking will shift to the West side. Parking will be less available during construction. Please be proactive in arriving early and dropping off students on West Whitendale Ave drop off points.  We appreciate all your support in the matter..



*         Locker Rooms: No loitering in or near the locker rooms before school, during class time and after school.



*         Reminder students: The upstairs 300's are off limits during lunch time.



*         Attention all students - As a reminder students are responsible for any personal items that are brought to school and assume all liability for any of those items if they become damaged, lost or stolen.

*         Attention Skateboard Riders: Please lock your skateboards inside of the skateboard racks that are located in the front of the school. You will need to bring your own lock. Skateboards are NOT allowed on campus. Reminder: Please remove your bike and skateboard locks off the racks when you leave.  There is no saving lockers or racks for the next day.



*         Attention all students - Come by the Miner Emporium (student store) and check out the new gear. We have beanies, bucket hats, hoodies and t-shirt with our new logo. Get them while supplies last.

*         Attention all students:  The beanie period has officially ended as of March 1st. Beanies were allowed during the colder months from November 1st to March 1st.





STUDENT NOTES






*         CSF is selling the big delicious cookies from our student kitchen for their scholarship fund. Only $6 per dozen. Find any CSF member to get your cookies or come by room 605 to place an order.



*         Choir: We are starting  auditions Monday 3/13, and will be running them until the end of the month for students currently enrolled in a choir class. For students not enrolled, we will be holding auditions during homeroom on March 13th through March 24th. Chamber choir auditions will be during pre-first March 24-March 30th.



*         Attention senior parents, here's a quick heads up that we are finishing up senior ads for the yearbook. If you have bought one and haven't been contacted by a yearbook representative yet, please call or email Mr Jarocki at ljarocki at vusd.org<mailto:ljarocki at vusd.org> . We don't have room for any more new ads, but we want to make sure that everyone that did buy one gets one.



*         Dress code Policy: as the weather is warming up fewer clothing items will be needed.  Please be informed that we will be strict on enforcing our dress code policy



*         Attention Seniors: An information meeting will be held on March 21 at lunch in room 601 for those interested in participating in the Mr. Miner activities and show during the week of April 4-7. Questions see Ms. McKee in room 601.


*         Attention Junior and Senior girls: It's that time of year again! The ANNUAL ENCHANTED EVENING PROM DRESS event will be taking place on Saturday April 1st at the Wyndham Hotel Back Entrance (Formally known as the Visalia Holiday Inn) from 6:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. You must sign up in the Student Services Office by March 24, 2017



*         Lost & Found:  An iphone was found during lunch on February 3rd.  If you lost a phone, please come  to Student Services to identify.



*         Attention all golfers:
Please save the date for the El Diamante Band Boosters annual golf tournament to be held on Saturday, April 29, at Valley Oaks Golf Course in Visalia. If you are interested in playing or
sponsoring the event, please fill out the attached flier and send it with your payment to:

*         ATTENTION JUNIORS: Your learning director Milee Vang will be available after school in the computer lab/library on these dates  to support with ACT/SAT registration, college planning resources, COS  Concurrent Application information, etc.

This will be just an open session for students to come by and see her if needed.


*         XL Culinary Art with Mrs. Lugo.  Starts today and will run every Monday from 4:00-6:00 pm in 504.  Students will receive a food handler's certification and learn to cook amazing food.



*         Hey Miners it's dancing time again! The XL program will be holding free ballroom dance lessons in the cafeteria after school on Mondays from 3:30 to 4:30. This month's dance is the waltz. Come for an hour of dance and fun. No experience necessary. See Mr. Jarocki in room 603 for details.

Loitering Policy

Specific areas where student loitering is prohibited:

1.       Parking lots, Restrooms (Students are not allowed to go to their vehicle and retrieve items during class time)

2.       Playing fields outside the gated area (unless under adult supervision)

3.       Bicycle/skateboard racks

4.       Front of the school on Whitendale Avenue

5.       Bus drop off lane on Crenshaw Street

6.       On school grounds after school hours unless in a supervised activity or classroom

*         Freson Pacific will be on campus March 29th during homeroom.  Please sign up in Student Services.

CLUB NOTES






*         ASL club meets every other Wednesday in room 365 during lunch.

*         Christian Club will meet every Monday at lunch in room 354.

*         Key Club meets in room 604 each week on Wednesdays. Grab your lunch and join us to find out about service opportunities for our school and community.

*         Fashion Club members the XL program Quilt class is now open on Fridays. Starting this semester the class will be on Mondays and Fridays. Come join us create quilts for the Valley Children Hospital. Everyone is welcome to help us!

PARENT NOTES




EDHS PTSA (Parent Teacher Student Association):



We are currently seeking parents, students, teachers or community members interested in serving

on the El Diamante High School PTSA Executive Board for next school year 2017/2018.



The positions available are:

President

Secretary

Treasurer

VP of Membership

VP of Programs

Historian



 Volunteering on the PTSA board as an officer is a short-term and rewarding experience.



 You will have the opportunity to work side by side with other parents, students and teachers, and our principal.



You will gain knowledge about our school and help with school and PTSA programs that help make school fun and rewarding!



Free training and mentoring is available to everyone who volunteers their time and expertise on the PTSA board.

*         Attention Parents The Track Team will be holding a Krispy Kreme Fundraiser to raise money. Find your nearest track athlete to place an order, or you can come to Room 608 to order from Mrs. Perez until March 17th. Doughnuts will be ready for pick up on March 25th in the El Diamante parking lot from 8am-11am.

*         The Miner Foundation Dinner and Auction will be held on Saturday, May 6 at 6:00 pm at the Visalia Elks Lodge. This is a major fundraiser for the Miner Foundation. Since 2006, the Miner Foundation has awarded over $130,000 in scholarships to El Diamante students.  All proceeds from the Dinner and Auction go directly toward supporting the mission of the Foundation.  Stay tuned for more information about tickets.  If you would like to sponsor a table or donate an item for the silent or live auction, please contact the El Diamante office. Thank you for your generous support of our El Diamante community.
