*         Attention all students: As the weather begins to warm up, please be advised that dress code will be strictly enforced.  Please refer to the student conduct code handbook or the dress code policy posted in the attendance office.

*         This message is to update on the solar project. The project has begun and will continue throughout the Spring Semester. The East side of parking will be unavailable starting March 6th, 2017 and student parking will shift to the West side. Parking will be less available during construction. Please be proactive in arriving early and dropping off students on West Whitendale Ave drop off points.  We appreciate all your support in the matter..

*         Locker Rooms: No loitering in or near the locker rooms before school, during class time and after school.

*         Reminder students: The upstairs 300's are off limits during lunch time.

*         Attention all students - As a reminder students are responsible for any personal items that are brought to school and assume all liability for any of those items if they become damaged, lost or stolen.

*         Attention Skateboard Riders: Please lock your skateboards inside of the skateboard racks that are located in the front of the school. You will need to bring your own lock. Skateboards are NOT allowed on campus. Reminder: Please remove your bike and skateboard locks off the racks when you leave.  There is no saving lockers or racks for the next day.

*         Attention all students - Come by the Miner Emporium (student store) and check out the new gear. We have beanies, bucket hats, hoodies and t-shirt with our new logo. Get them while supplies last.

*        Attention all students:  The beanie period has officially ended as of March 1st. Beanies were allowed during the colder months from November 1st to March 1st.

STUDENT NOTES

*         Attention dancing miners! In Motion Dance Team auditions will be held next Thursday, March 30th at 6pm.  Those interested are required to attend one workshop ahead of time to learn material for auditions either Tuesday, March 28th 5:30-7pm or Wednesday, March 29th 3:45-5:15pm @ EDHS Dance Room.  Be sure to pick up a pack for try outs in Miss Skadan's class ahead of time.  Students currently not enrolled in dance at El D but are interested in intermediate or advanced are required to attend this audition if wanting to be placed in a higher level course.  Hope to see you there

*         Cheer packets are available for pick up in the attendance office and are due March 28th. In order to try out packets must be completed and turned in by this date! Thank you!

*         Hey Miners it's dancing time again! The XL program is holding free ballroom dance lessons in the cafeteria after school on Mondays from 3:30 to 4:30. This month's dance is the rumba. Come for an hour of dance and fun. No experience necessary. See Mr. Jarocki in room 603 for details.

*         Attention all Seniors:  Reminder, sign up in Student Services for Graduation Singer Tryouts.  Deadline is March 31, 2017.

*         Attention all students:  This is a reminder to not park in designated visitor parking as this is reserved for individuals visiting our campus. Thank you for your help in the matter!

*         Choir: We are starting auditions Monday 3/13, and will be running them until the end of the month for students currently enrolled in a choir class. For students not enrolled, we will be holding auditions during homeroom on March 13th through March 24th. Chamber choir auditions will be during pre-first March 24-March 30th.

*         Attention all golfers:
Please save the date for the El Diamante Band Boosters annual golf tournament to be held on Saturday, April 29, at Valley Oaks Golf Course in Visalia. If you are interested in playing or

*         XL Culinary Art with Mrs. Lugo.  Starts today and will run every Monday from 4:00-6:00 pm in 504.  Students will receive a food handler's certification and learn to cook amazing food.

Loitering Policy

Specific areas where student loitering is prohibited:

1.       Parking lots, Restrooms (Students are not allowed to go to their vehicle and retrieve items during class time)

2.       Playing fields outside the gated area (unless under adult supervision)

3.       Bicycle/skateboard racks

4.       Front of the school on Whitendale Avenue

5.       Bus drop off lane on Crenshaw Street

6.       On school grounds after school hours unless in a supervised activity or classroom

SENIOR NOTES

*         Attention all Seniors:  Reminder to sign up in Student Services for Graduation Singer Tryouts.  Deadline is March 31, 2017.

*         Mr. Miner applications are available in room 601 or student services. They are due to Student Services by March 29 at 3:30. Questions? See Ms. McKee in room 601.

*         STEM Majors:  COS is offering a program for current high school seniors that are planning to attend COS in the Summer/Fall as a STEM major.  For qualified candidates, the realm program will offer guaranteed placement in critical math and science courses as well as structured support and tutoring.  Please see the attached flyer for more information on eligibility and how to apply for the program.

*         Fresno Pacific will be on campus March 29th during homeroom.  Please sign up in Student Services.

*         ATTENTION SENIORS: Have questions about Fresno State?  Sign up in Student Services to speak with a Fresno State Ambassador!

CLUB NOTES

*         ASL club meets every other Wednesday in room 365 during lunch.

*         Christian Club will meet every Monday at lunch in room 354.

*         Key Club meets in room 604 each week on Wednesdays. Grab your lunch and join us to find out about service opportunities for our school and community.

*         Fashion Club members the XL program Quilt class is now open on Fridays. Starting this semester the class will be on Mondays and Fridays. Come join us create quilts for the Valley Children Hospital. Everyone is welcome to help us!

SPORTS

*         Weight Training: Spring weight training for football starts Monday March 27, 2017.  3:30-5:30 in the weight room.  Weight training will be Monday's and Wednesday's.

*         XL Program:  Football Weight Training starts March 27th-Every Monday & Wednesday (Weight Room) 3:30-5:30

*         XL Program:  Wrestling Weight Training starts March 27th -Every Monday & Wednesday (Wrestling Room) & every Tuesday & Thursday (Weight Room) 3:30-5:30

PARENT NOTES

*         Attention Senior Parents:  Here's a quick heads up that we are finishing up senior ads for the yearbook. If you have bought one and haven't been contacted by a yearbook representative yet, please call or email Mr Jarocki at ljarocki at vusd.org<mailto:ljarocki at vusd.org> . We don't have room for any more new ads, but we want to make sure that everyone that did buy one gets one.

*         The Miner Foundation Dinner and Auction will be held on Saturday, May 6 at 6:00 pm at the Visalia Elks Lodge. This is a major fundraiser for the Miner Foundation. Since 2006, the Miner Foundation has awarded over $130,000 in scholarships to El Diamante students.  All proceeds from the Dinner and Auction go directly toward supporting the mission of the Foundation.  Stay tuned for more information about tickets.  If you would like to sponsor a table or donate an item for the silent or live auction, please contact the El Diamante office. Thank you for your generous support of our El Diamante community.
