*         Attention all students: As the weather begins to warm up, please be advised that dress code will be strictly enforced.  Please refer to the student conduct code handbook or the dress code policy posted in the attendance office.

*         Locker Rooms: No loitering in or near the locker rooms before school, during class time and after school.

*         Reminder students: The upstairs 300's are off limits during lunch time.

*         Attention all students:  As a reminder students are responsible for any personal items that are brought to school and assume all liability for any of those items if they become damaged, lost or stolen.

*         Attention Skateboard Riders: Please lock your skateboards inside of the skateboard racks that are located in the front of the school. You will need to bring your own lock. Skateboards are NOT allowed on campus. Reminder: Please remove your bike and skateboard locks off the racks when you leave.  There is no saving lockers or racks for the next day.

*         Attention all students - Come by the Miner Emporium (student store) and check out the new gear. We have beanies, bucket hats, hoodies and t-shirt with our new logo. Get them while supplies last.

*        Attention all students:  The beanie period has officially ended as of March 1st. Beanies were allowed during the colder months from November 1st to March 1st.

STUDENT NOTES

*         Prom Ticket Sales:  Do not wait until the last minute to buy your prom tickets.  PROM TICKET SALES WILL END AT 3:30 P.M. ON FRIDAY (even if there is still a line).  If you have not purchased your tickets by that time, you will have to buy the tickets at the door on Saturday for the increased price of $45 per ticket.  Prom tickets can be purchased in the Finance Office before school, at lunch and after school.  Tickets are also being sold out of Room 601 (Student Store) Thursday during lunch and after school, and Friday during lunch only.

*         Attention all students:  Please have all items removed from your locker on or before the last day of school Friday, June 2nd.  Any items left behind WILL BE DISCARDED.  Locker rooms will be closed over the summer for maintenance.

*         Summer School:  The list of students who got in to summer school will be posted on the window in the Student Services Office, it is sorted by the grade you will be in next year.  If you did not get in to summer school, there is a notice in the Student Services Office on how to do the lottery the first day of summer school.

*          Attention all students:  XL will be hosting Free haircuts for students on Thursday, May 11th. You will need to come in for a permission slip at the XL office LAB 62. First come First serve.

*         Attention Juniors:  The Junior Class Meeting has been scheduled for Wednesday, May 17 during homeroom in the gym.  Important information regarding senior pictures to be presented.  Please report to your homeroom first.  Your homeroom teacher will escort you to the gym.

*         Attention all students:  Hey Miners, there's still time to buy a yearbook. They're on sale for $90 until May 14th at the finance center, in Jarocki's room (603), and online through the El D website. After that, you can take your chances at Facet Night on May 24th, but we can't guarantee you'll get one. Be sure to buy yours before they sell out.

*         PROM:  Do you need a boutonniere and corsage for Prom??  The EDHS Floral class will be making sets for only $30.00.  We will only be making 20 sets so come by quickly to room 401 either at lunch or after school.  Last day to order is Monday, May 8th and orders will be ready for pick up on Friday, May 12th by 3:30pm.

*         Attention Juniors and Seniors:  THE JUNIOR/SENIOR PROM "A Cruise to Remember" is Saturday, May 13 from 8 - 11 PM at the Visalia Convention Center!  Tickets will be on sale starting May 8. Prices are $25 single ticket with ASB; $35 single ticket w/o ASB; $45 single ticket at the door.  If your date to the PROM is not currently a Junior or Senior you must have an approved guest pass for them to purchase a ticket.  Also, if your date is not a VUSD student you must have an approved guest pass in order for your guest to attend the dance.  Guest passes may be picked up in the Student Services Office and must be turned back in to Mrs. Naylor by Wednesday, May 10 by 4:00 pm in order to get it approved.  Remember that you must be clear of all fines in order to be eligible to purchase a ticket.

*         Attention all students:  XL AM Tutorials will be in the XL Office Lab 62 on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday of next week.

*         Attention all students:  Students participating in school sports next year may have a physical done at school on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 for only $2.00!  Physicals are mandatory every year for students participating in athletics.  This physical will qualify for next school year, 2017-2018.
To participate in this program:

1.       Pick up forms from Coach starting the last week of April

2.       Complete the information- including parent signatures

3.       A fee of $2.00 is requested to cover the cost of medical supplies.

4.       Return the forms and $2.00 to the school nurse no later than FRIDAY, MAY 12th.   No late sign-ups will be accepted.

*         Attention all students:  Visalia College Fair will be on Monday, June 12, 2017 at the Visalia Convention Center.  Colleges from across the state and country will be in attendance to discuss how to make students' college aspirations a reality.  Please see attached flyer for more information and where to register.

*         Attention all students:  This is a reminder to not park in designated visitor parking as this is reserved for individuals visiting our campus. Thank you for your help in the matter!

*         Attention all students: As the weather begins to warm up, please be advised that dress code will be strictly enforced.  Please refer to the student conduct code handbook or the dress code policy posted in the attendance office.

*         XL Culinary Art with Mrs. Lugo.  Starts today and will run every Monday from 4:00-6:00 pm in room 504.  Students will receive a food handler's certification and learn to cook amazing food.

Loitering Policy

Specific areas where student loitering is prohibited:

1.       Parking lots, Restrooms (Students are not allowed to go to their vehicle and retrieve items during class time)

2.       Playing fields outside the gated area (unless under adult supervision)

3.       Bicycle/skateboard racks

4.       Front of the school on Whitendale Avenue

5.       Bus drop off lane on Crenshaw Street

6.       On school grounds after school hours unless in a supervised activity or classroom

SENIOR NOTES

*         REFLECTION ASSEMBLY: Don't miss out!  The Reflection Assembly is Wednesday, May 24 at 10:03 a.m.  The Class of 2017 will meet on the blacktop west side of the gym prior to the beginning of the Assembly.  Do not enter the assembly, but gather as a class on the blacktop.  When directed by Mrs. Garcia, the seniors will begin to enter the assembly with their Senior Homeroom teacher leading to take their places on the gym floor.

*         SCHOLARSHIPS:  B. Davis Scholarship deadline is May 22, 2017, amount of scholarship is $1,000.00.

Please check the attached Scholarship Information Form for due dates on scholarships.

*         STEM Majors:  COS is offering a program for current high school seniors that are planning to attend COS in the Summer/Fall as a STEM major.  For qualified candidates, the realm program will offer guaranteed placement in critical math and science courses as well as structured support and tutoring.  Please see the attached flyer for more information on eligibility and how to apply for the program.

CLUB NOTES

*         G.S.A Club:  Change in meeting day Come on Friday, May 12th at lunch.

*         ASL club meets every other Wednesday in room 365 during lunch.

*         Christian Club will meet every Monday at lunch in room 354.

*         Key Club meets in room 604 each week on Wednesdays. Grab your lunch and join us to find out about service opportunities for our school and community.

*         Fashion Club members the XL program Quilt class is now open on Fridays. Starting this semester the class will be on Mondays and Fridays. Come join us create quilts for the Valley Children Hospital. Everyone is welcome to help us!
