*        Miner Emporium:  Come by the Miner Emporium (student store) and check out the new gear. We have beanies, bucket hats, hoodies and t-shirts with our new logo. Get them while supplies last.



*        The Marines will be on campus on Mondays in the quad area, the Army will be on campus on Tuesdays in front of the Career Center, the Navy will be on campus on Wednesdays in front of the Career Center.





STUDENT NOTES




*        Miner's Got Talent Show:  The Miner's Got Talent Show is this Thursday Nov. 16 at 6:30 pm in the theater.  Admission is a $2 donation to the Holiday Food Drive.

*         Harvest Dance Pictures:  Harvest Dance Pictures are in. You can pick up in the Finance office at lunchtime or after school.

*        Winter Formal will be held on Saturday, December 2 from 8 - 11 PM in the Mt. Whitney High School Gym.  Tickets will go on sale beginning Monday, November 27 in the Finance Office before school, during lunch or after school for $20 per single ticket w/ASB, $30 per single ticket w/o ASB, $40 per single ticket at the door.  A dance contract (located in Student Services Office) must be completed and submitted to Finance Office before you can purchase a ticket (if you have already signed a dance contract you are clear for the current year dances).  If your date to the dance is NOT a VUSD student you must have an approved guest pass in order for your guest to attend the dance.  Guest passes may be picked up in the Student Services Office and must be turned back in to Mrs. Vang no later than Wednesday, November 29 by 3:30 pm in order to get it approved (NO LATE GUEST PASSES WILL BE APPROVED!).  Remember that you must be clear of all fines in order to be eligible to attend.  In addition, you must present a current valid school I.D. at the door to be admitted to the dance!  No exceptions!  Appropriate dancing and behavior is expected!  Dress Code<http://www.vusd.org/files/filesystem/Winter%20Formal%20Dress%20Code.pdf> will be strictly enforced.

*        Beanies are allowed during the colder months from November 1st to March 1st and must be of a solid color with no logo or lettering however may contain the school logo. All approved headgear must not cover the face and shall be worn as intended to provide protection outdoors only and may not be worn indoors.  The school or district is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged headgear.

*        COS Scholarship:  The COS Scholarship Application is now open. The deadline to submit your application is NOVEMBER 27.  For more information visit: www.cos.edu/scholarships<http://www.cos.edu/scholarships#_blank>.

COS encourages El Diamante High School students to apply for the College of the Sequoias 2018-2019 Scholarship Application. The deadline is November 27, 2017.

Students can complete one, online application for hundreds of scholarship opportunities. COS gave out over $400,000 last year!

Instructions on how to apply:

All incoming (high school students) without a COS Banner ID will create an account and login on subsequent site visits via Scholarship Manager<https://cos.scholarships.ngwebsolutions.com/CMXAdmin/Cmx_Content.aspx?cpId=496>.


Incoming students who have a COS Banner ID will login via Banner Web<https://banweb.cos.edu/prod/twbkwbis.P_WWWLogin>. Once in Banner Web, select "Student Services & Financial Aid" then "Scholarship Manager."



*        Scholarship Workshop:  Seniors-Ms. Bitney is hosting an ongoing scholarship workshop on Mondays and Wednesdays after school in room 605 from 3:30 to 4:30.  This is a great resource for assistance and information about scholarships, so make sure to go by and see her.

*        FAFSA at COS: Financial Aid Staff & Student Success Coordinators will help you apply at the Tulare Center on Nov. 29th Bldg. B 214 from 12:00-2:00pm.  Please bring: 1) Parent and Student Income Tax Returns & W2's. 2) Student & Parent's Social Security Numbers and Date of Birth. *        Fresno State:  Will be offering a Saturday workshop on campus to assist students with the new fall 2018 application. Workshop will be held at the University Center 123<http://www.fresnostate.edu/map/> (UC123) east of the library on November 18 from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.  Parking is relaxed for this day. Getting admitted to the campus starts with an accurate and complete application. We look forward to seeing your students at the workshops. Computers and Wi-Fi will be available but students are encouraged to bring their own laptop or tablet. Students can RSVP at:
