Student Attendance - If you need to call Attendance to clear an absence or have your student released for an appointment, please call your Attendance person directly using the information below:

*         Lunch Campus Exit:  Students will have 10 minutes to exit campus for lunch. This is being done to ensure that there is adequate time for you to return and not be tardy to class. Students will not be allowed to exit through the attendance office without administrative approval or parent pick up. Should a student be tardy, they will be assigned a lunch detention.


*         Cell Phones:  This is a reminder regarding cell phones, students who possess cell phones on campus must abide by the rules governing their use as outlined in the Student Conduct Code.  Misuse of cell phones could lead to confiscation and/or banning the use of such items. Students who possess these items at school are entirely at their own risk. The school or district is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged devices (BP 5131 b). Cell phones are to be turned off during class time and at any other time as directed by a district employee. If student refuses to give cell phone to teacher or district employee, this will be considered defiance and will lead to disciplinary actions.





*         Dress Code: All students are expected to adhere to the dress code as outlined in the Student Conduct Code handbook.  Dress Code will be strictly enforced.



*         Locker Rooms: No loitering in or near the locker rooms before school, during class time and after school.



*         Reminder students: The upstairs 300's are off limits during lunch time.



*         Personal Items:  As a reminder students are responsible for any personal items that are brought to school and assume all liability for any of those items if they become damaged, lost or stolen.

*         Attention Skateboard Riders: Please lock your skateboards inside of the skateboard racks that are located in the front of the school. You will need to bring your own lock. Skateboards are NOT allowed on campus. Reminder: Please remove your bike and skateboard locks off the racks when you leave.  There is no saving lockers or racks for the next day.



*         Miner Emporium:  Come by the Miner Emporium (student store) and check out the new gear. We have beanies, bucket hats, hoodies and t-shirt with our new logo. Get them while supplies last.

*         Beanies:  Beanies are not to be worn on campus with the exception of the colder months; beanies are allowed from November 1st to March 1st only.



*         The Marines will be on campus on Mondays in the quad area to answer any questions you may have.



*         The Army will be on campus on Tuesdays in front of the career center to answer any questions you may have.



*         The Navy will be on campus on Wednesdays in front of the career center to answer any questions you may.

*         Visalia Teen Idol:  We have a special event coming up in Visalia!  Brought to you by the Visalia Parks & Recreation Department is the 14th annual Visalia Teen Idol competition being held at the Redwood High School LJ Williams Theater.  This event will be held on Saturday, September 9th at 6pm!  Come out and support the Visalia youth, you do not want to miss this event!  Pre-Sale tickets can now be purchased at the Anthony Community Center for only $7!!  For more information call 713-4069.


*         ProYouth XL/SEED:   Students Empowered by Exposure to Diversity - would like to extend an invitation to all our students interested in "Film Critique".  Join us on September 26th, "Dolores" - fieldtrip to Maya Cinemas at Fresno, CA, first-come, first-served, reserve your spot!  Pick up a participating permit after school at the XL office.


*         Picture Retakes:  All students are required to take their picture for ID cards.  If you missed picture day, please sign-up in Student Services to have your picture taken on Tuesday, September 26th.  Students, who want to retake their pictures, bring your original picture packet and return it to the photographer on retake day.  Everyone must sign up for a time slot in Student Services.

*         The PSAT* will be on October 11, 2017
*PSAT Registration Information: Beginning Monday, August 28th purchase test from Mrs. Pena in the Finance Office or online through the EDHS Web store no later than 10/4/17.
Tests are sold on a first-come, first-served basis and may sell out. The cost is $16.



*         College Night:  The annual College Night will be at the Visalia Convention Center on Tuesday, September 12, from 5:30 to 8:00 PM. This event is for any student and their parents, who will be, or currently are, working towards attending a college or university. Information pertaining to entrance requirements and financial aid will be presented. Representatives from local universities, colleges, and other schools will be on hand to provide information and answer questions.  We hope to see you there.


*         Tulare County Youth Council:  TCYC is actively recruiting for the 2017-2018 Tulare County Office of Educations-Tulare County Youth Council.  If you are a 9,10,11,12 grade student interested in being a part of the youth council please complete attached application and return by September 8, 2017.  We are looking to recruit new students to represent your school this upcoming school year. We meet twice a month and we do some great things in the community.  The Youth Council will provide an opportunity for young people in our community to have a voice in the services that the Tulare County Office of Education provides, as well as contribute to local policy issues in areas of concern for the youth of our county.   Participants will have opportunities to develop relationships and skills that will help build their competencies and better prepare them for their future endeavors.


*         Rotary Youth Exchange Scholarship Study Abroad: An informational meeting for parents and students interested in spending a year of their high school studying overseas.  Each year Rotary handles over 8,000 students in this opportunity of a lifetime.  Join us on September 3rd, 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at San Joaquin Valley College, 8344 W. *          XL Program: Is a great resource for students and parents. We offer Free Tutoring, Enrichment courses, Credit Recovery classes, SAT Prep, and Intervention (re-teaching of class lessons, class work and Benchmark). This Semester we are offering:  -A.M. Tutorials -P.M. Tutorials ( Student Tutors are available for private tutoring upon request) -Ag-Science -Pre-Season Athletics -Animation and Storyboarding -Special Effects -Urban Arts (Hip-Hop) -XL Resource Center.  FREE SNACKS ARE AVAILABLE AFTER SCHOOL FOR ALL STUDENTS IN CAFETERIA. SERVING TIMES ARE FROM 3:16-3:45pm & 5:00-6:00pm.

*         Visitor Parking:  This is a reminder to not park in designated visitor parking as this is reserved for individuals visiting our campus. Thank you for your help in the matter!



*         Dress Code: As the weather begins to warm up, please be advised that dress code will be strictly enforced.  Please refer to the student conduct code handbook or the dress code policy posted in the attendance office.











Loitering Policy

Specific areas where student loitering is prohibited:

1.       Parking lots, Restrooms (Students are not allowed to go to their vehicle and retrieve items during class time)

2.       Playing fields outside the gated area (unless under adult supervision)

3.       Bicycle/skateboard racks

4.       Front of the school on Whitendale Avenue

5.       Bus drop off lane on Crenshaw Street

6.       On school grounds after school hours unless in a supervised activity or classroom

*         Attention Seniors:  There will be a UC Application Workshop with UC Merced on Monday, September 25th in the Library.  Please sign up in the Student Services office.  Space is limited.


*         College Application Workshops: Seniors and parents!  See the attached list of College Application Workshops as well as other helpful workshops and informational meetings that will be held at El Diamante and the District Office throughout the year.  We will advertise events at El Diamante individually as they come up.


*         Senior ASB ID Cards:  Are available to pick up in Student Services Office before school, at lunch or after school.  You must bring your ID card to switch for ASB card.


*         Attention Class of 2018: While working on college applications this year, we recommend looking into the Wendy's High School Heisman Scholarship. They give out 100 scholarships to students ranging from $1,000 - $10,000. Application deadline is October 2.  Visit WendysHeisman.com to learn more.
