*         Miner Emporium:  Come by the Miner Emporium (student store) and check out the new gear. We have beanies, bucket hats, hoodies and t-shirts with our new logo. Get them while supplies last.

*         The Marines will be on campus on Mondays in the quad area, the Army will be on campus on Tuesdays in front of the Career Center, the Navy will be on campus on Wednesdays in front of the Career Center.

*Dress-up days are for the entire school to participate and show support for the FFA and its mission to make "a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth, and career success through agricultural education" (FFA Mission Statement).



**All lunchtime activities during National FFA Week will take place in the quad area on the east side of the library.





STUDENT NOTES



*         Attention all students:  Are you funny? Do you have a big personality? Are you interested in TV, film or video production?  Applications are now being accepted for the 2018-19 On Air with EDHewS crew. You can pick up applications in the Student Services office or in Room 902. All applications must be turned in on or before February 28.

*         Do you like to write? Do you like to take pictures? Do you like to work with InDesign or Photoshop? If any of these sound good to you, register for Journalism next year. Looking for interested students to be a part of The Dig. If that is YOU, see Ms. Moore in room 606 or your learning director.

*         Academic Awards Night is coming up on March 5th at 6:30 in the gym.  To qualify you must have had a semester GPA of 3.67 or better in either the spring semester of last year or the fall semester of this year (for freshmen it is just the fall semester of this year.)  If you qualify for an academic award you will receive a letter of invitation on Friday in your home room.  Be sure to take the letter home and show it to your parents.  If you don't get a letter but feel you should have, come to the Student Services office and see Mr. Buenafe.  Thank you!

*         Spring Fling Guest Passes are available now: The dance is Saturday, March 3rd at Mt. Whitney High School Gym from 8 - 11 PM!  If your date to the dance is NOT a VUSD student you must have an approved guest pass in order for your guest to attend the dance.  Guest passes may be picked up in the Student Services Office and must be turned back in to Mrs. Vang no later than Wednesday, February 28th by 3:30 pm in order to get it approved (NO LATE GUEST PASSES WILL BE APPROVED!).  Remember you must be clear of all fines in order to be eligible.  Dance Tickets go on sale starting February 27- March 2 until 3:30pm in the Finance Office. Tickets prices are: $15 w/ASB sticker, $25 w/out ASB sticker, and $35 at the door. In addition, you must present a current valid school I.D. at the door to be admitted to the dance!  No exceptions!  If you do not have a current ID, please stop by the Student Services Office at lunch or after school to make one!  Appropriate dancing and behavior is expected!  Dress Code<http://www.vusd.org/files/filesystem/Moonlight%20Harvest%20Dress%20Code.pdf> will be strictly enforced.  Hope to see you there! A dance contract (located in Student Services Office) must be completed and submitted to Finance Office before you can purchase a ticket (if you have already signed a dance contract this school year, you are clear for the current year dances).



*         CURRENT JUNIORS: COS Application/Placement Test workshop will be Monday, February 26th 10:00am-11:00am. Space is limited, sign up now in the student services office.

*         Current Sophomores and Juniors: The Ambassador Applications are now available online and in the Student Services Office. The application must be completed with two teacher recommendations. This program will take place in the 2018-2019 school year. As a reminder, you must have an overall 2.75 GPA to become and Academic Ambassador.  See your Learning Director if you have questions.

*         JUNIORS & SENIORS:  Lincoln Tech Institution will be here during Homeroom on February 28, 2018. They will be giving an informational presentation on their school. They offer careers in Automotive, Healthcare, Skilled Trades, Culinary, Cosmetology and more! If interested see Ms. Reynolds in Student Services to sign up.

*         Students- If you have requested Official Transcripts or a Pink Slip from Mrs. Davis, please come pick them up in the Student Services office.

*         Beanies are allowed during the colder months from November 1st to March 1st and must be of a solid color with no logo or lettering however may contain the school logo. All approved headgear must not cover the face and shall be worn as intended to provide protection outdoors only and may not be worn indoors.  The school or district is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged headgear.

SENIOR NOTES





*         Seniors: Grad Nite is Thursday, May 4th.  The cost for Grad Nite is $175, CASH ONLY; tickets will go on sale at 7:30 a.m. on Monday, 2/26/18 - this is the ONLY day you can purchase tickets.  You will need to line up to purchase your tickets with the people you want to be on the same bus with.  There will be NO BUS CHANGES after you purchase your ticket.  Students are not permitted on campus until 7:00 a.m. - "camping out" is not allowed.  In order to purchase your tickets to Grad Nite, you MUST be on track to graduate and make sure to clear all fines through the Finance office and the Library.  You will not be admitted to purchase tickets for Grad Nite without a completed Grad Nite Permission packet which includes your parent signatures and signatures from the library and finance office.  NO EXCEPTIONS.  Extra copies of the permission packet are available on the website and in the Student Services Office.



*         Tulare County Charter of ACSA Student Scholarship Application is now available in the Student Services office. The application is due on Friday, March 2, 2018. Applications for this scholarship require:

 *   The applicant must be graduating this school year.
 *   The parent or legal guardian must have a current membership with the Tulare County Charter of ACSA. (Association of California School Administrators)
 *   The applicant must have maintained a G.P.A. of 2.5 or higher for the seven semesters prior to the application deadline.
 *   Applications must be received by no later than 4:00 p.m. on Friday, March 2, 2018.



*         Cap & Gowns:  Seniors if you missed your opportunity to place your orders, you have 3 options to ensure you order in time for graduation.

3)      Mailing to or dropping off at our local Visalia office - 1222 W Murray Ave Visalia CA 93291



*         Scholarship Workshop:  Seniors-Ms. Bitney is hosting an ongoing scholarship workshop on Mondays and Wednesdays after school in room 605 from 3:30 to 4:30.  This is a great resource for assistance and information about scholarships, so make sure to go by and see her.

*         Seniors: Transcript request forms are available in the Student Services Office. If you need an official transcript, please fill this out and allow 2-4 days for Mrs. Davis to process your requests. Your first 3 Official transcripts are free.  After that you will be charged $1 per transcript.
