·         Miner Emporium:  Come by the Miner Emporium (student store) and check out the new gear. We have beanies, bucket hats, hoodies and t-shirts with our new logo. Get them while supplies last.

·         The Marines will be on campus on Mondays in the quad area, the Army will be on campus on Tuesdays in front of the Career Center, the Navy will be on campus on Wednesdays in front of the Career Center, and the National Guard will be on campus on Thursdays in the quad area, to answer any questions you may have.

STUDENT NOTES

Today:

·         Students: The ASVAB interpretation is today during homeroom in the Library. If you took the ASVAB test please report to the library at the start of homeroom to go over your results.

New Announcements:

·         The Spring COS registration date for concurrent high school students opens on December 3. If are interested in taking a COS class during the Spring 2019 semester (starts on January 14) please see your Learning Director to fill out the Concurrent High School Permission form for approval. See your LD if you have questions.

·         Quick announcement about Saturday University. We need to make a few adjustments to Saturday University this month. We are cancelling the Dec. 1 session and adding a Dec. 15 session. So the only sessions we have for this month are Dec. 8 and Dec. 15. Hope to see you there!

Old Announcements:

·         CSUF President's Scholar Program: Interested in a full ride academic scholarship? Visit this info session to learn about the Cal State Fullerton President's Scholar Program and how to apply. The presentation will be this Friday, November 30th, during homeroom. Sign up in the Student Services office.

·         Seniors: A representative from Fresno Pacific University will be here for a visit next Thursday, December 6th. If you are interested in applying or learning more about this university; sign-up in Student Services.

·         Winter Formal will be held on Saturday, December 8 from 8 - 11 PM in the El Diamante High School Gym.  Tickets will go on sale beginning Monday, December 3 in the Finance Office before school, during lunch or after school for $20 per single ticket w/ASB, $30 per single ticket w/o ASB, $50 per single ticket at the door. Tickets will be on sale through lunch on Friday, December 7.  If you do not purchase your tickets by the end of lunch on Friday, you will have to purchase tickets at the door for the increased price.  If your date to the dance is NOT a VUSD student you must have an approved guest pass in order for your guest to attend the dance.  Guest passes may be picked up in the Student Services Office and must be turned back in to Mrs. Vang no later than Wednesday, December 5 by 3:30 pm in order to get it approved (NO LATE GUEST PASSES WILL BE APPROVED!).  Remember that you must be clear of all fines in order to be eligible to attend.  In addition, you must present a current valid school I.D. at the door to be admitted to the dance!  No exceptions!  Appropriate dancing and behavior is expected!  Dress Code will be strictly enforced.

·         California Lions Clubs are again sponsoring a Student Speaker Contest in February with cash awards and scholarships of up to $10,000. It is open to all students in grades 9-12. The topic is "FREEDOM OF THE PRESS, WHAT DOES IT MEAN? This is a wonderful public speaking opportunity to earn money toward higher education by presenting a 10 minute speech at one of the Lions Clubs in Visalia. Amounts of awards begin at $100 and increase through each of the 6 levels of competition. If you are interested or would like to know more, see Ms. Reynolds in Student Services who has more information and interest letters that need to be returned before January 17 in order for you to be contacted by a Visalia Lions Club member.  This is a wonderful and exciting opportunity given throughout the state of California. We encourage all students to consider participating in this annual event as they move forward with their education.

·         Attention Students: Headgear is not allowed. This includes hats, caps, bandanas, sweatbands, hairnets, head bands, do-rags, and beanies. This dress code will be enforced and you will be asked to remove with possible confiscation and parent pick up.

·         Students if you need to request a DMV Pink Slip, please go to Mrs. Springer's room 318 with your transcript. You can put in a request to get your Pink Slip before school, during homeroom, and during lunch. Please allow 2 school days for processing before picking it up. We will no longer issue Pink Slips in the Student Services office.

SENIOR NOTES

·         Scholarship Workshop:  Seniors-Ms. Bitney is hosting an ongoing scholarship workshop on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school in room 605 from 3:30 to 4:30.  This is a great resource for assistance and information about scholarships, so make sure to go by and see her.

·         Seniors- College Covered is offering a drawing to randomly select eligible students to win a $10,000 scholarship award to help pay for college. ·         Attention Parents: We are asking our El Diamante families and alumni for monetary donations to support our PTSA Pledge Drive. The Pledge Drive helps fund our Holiday Care Package Program, Senior Scholarship Program, Student Wellness Programs as well as Teacher Appreciation week. With funds raised last year we were able to provide holiday meals to many of our El Diamante families with limited resources.  Of course we would like to be able to match that amount again this year. Our PTSA has distributed holiday meals since 2004 to families and we have been able to offer 4-5 scholarships to our graduating seniors. El Diamante High School PTSA is completely reliant on charitable donations in order to be able to continue to provide these programs. That is why we ask you to remember PTSA with a charitable gift in support of our school community. Any amount you can share will be greatly appreciated.
