·         Miner Emporium:  Come by the Miner Emporium (student store) and check out the new gear. We have beanies, bucket hats, hoodies and t-shirts with our new logo. Get them while supplies last.

·         The Marines will be on campus on Mondays in the quad area, the Army will be on campus on Tuesdays in front of the Career Center, the Navy will be on campus on Wednesdays in front of the Career Center, and the National Guard will be on campus on Thursdays in the quad area, to answer any questions you may have.

·         Following the flag salute today, all Freshmen and their homeroom teachers need to report to the field behind the portables for a class picture.

Old Announcements:

·         Attention Miners, Homeroom competition is today! The homerooms wearing the most, "Miner Nation" shirts will earn an early release to lunch. Only one homeroom winner per grade level. Winning classes will be announced at the end of homeroom.

·         The PSAT* will be on October 10, 2018
*PSAT Registration Information: Purchase your spot to take the PSAT from Mrs. Pena in the Finance Office or online through the EDHS Web store.
Tests are sold on a first-come, first-served basis and may sell out. The cost is $16.

·         Miner Youth Night is Friday, October 12th for the El Diamante Football Game vs. Mt. Whitney. The game will be at Groppetti Community Stadium. One parent and a student from any EDHS feeder school can get into the game free. Feeder school staff members and one guest can also get into the game free. Varsity kickoff begins at 7:00 PM.

·         Moonlight Harvest Dance:  Will be held on Saturday, October 13 from 8 - 11 p.m. in the Golden West High School Gym.  Tickets go on sale beginning Monday, October 8-Thursday, October 11 in the Finance Office before school, during lunch or after school for $15 per single ticket w/ASB, $25 per single ticket w/o ASB, $45 per single ticket at the door. If your date to the dance is NOT a VUSD student you must have an approved guest pass in order for your guest to attend the dance.  Guest passes for students outside of VUSD may be picked up in the Student Services Office beginning October 1st and must be turned back in to Mrs. Vang no later than Wednesday, October 10 by 3:30 pm in order to get it approved (NO LATE GUEST PASSES WILL BE APPROVED!).  Remember that you must be clear of all fines in order to be eligible.  In addition, you must present a current valid school I.D. at the door to be admitted to the dance!  No exceptions!  If you do not have a current ID, please stop by the Student Services Office at lunch or after school to make one!  Appropriate dancing and behavior is expected!  Dress Code will be strictly enforced. Please see attached dress code.

·         The DREAM IT, BE IT program can help you plan your future! By participating in this program you will learn about career opportunities, setting and achieving goals, and overcoming obstacles. If this is something you would be interested in there will be two Career Planning Conferences. One on Saturday, October 20th and another on January 19th from 1-5 PM. Please see attached flyer for more details.

·         Students interested in taking the ASVAB test; it will take place Wednesday, October 31st, 2018 at 8:00 AM in the EDHS Library. This test measures a young adult's strengths, weaknesses, and potential for future success. This is for grades 10-12 only. Please sign-up in Student Services.

·         Students if you need to request a DMV Pink Slip, please go to Mrs. Springer's room 318 with your transcript. You can put in a request to get your Pink Slip before school, during homeroom, and during lunch. Please allow 2 school days for processing before picking it up. We will no longer issue Pink Slips in the Student Services office.

·         The Fresno State Ambassador will be on campus every other Thursday from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM starting September 6th. PARENT NOTES

·         Parents, teachers and students are invited to join us at the October PTSA meeting on Monday, October 8th @ 5:30 PM in the Library! Come and glean valuable information from Principal Hohne and ASB student leaders, as well as our guest speakers: El D teachers Tanya and Jerry Perez, parents of college students, who will be giving us helpful tips on the journey of college choices and applications. There will be refreshments and a door prize...don't miss it!

·         Attention Parents: If you are interested in requesting a meeting with the your student's Learning Director, please fill out the appointment request form by following the link below:

·         Don't miss this opportunity to ignite your curiosity! 5th-12th grade students and their parents/guardians are invited! Join industry professionals for conversations about their professions, training needed, and education requirements. This event will take place Monday, October 15th from 6:00-7:30 PM in the Redwood Cafeteria. It will begin with introductions, followed by multiple career industry panel sessions of your choice. The panels will consist of 3-4 professionals in each career such as; health sciences, culinary, education and many more. Please see the attached flyer for more information.

·         Attention Parents - The Tulare County District Attorney Office will be hosting a special parent night on Tuesday, October 16th, from 6-7 PM in the La Joya Middle School GYM.  The Tulare County District Attorney's office will share information about "The Dangers of Social Media" and its impacts on our students.  This is a great opportunity to learn how to identify the dangers and how it affects students in our community and what is being done to prevent, protect and prosecute.  Be advised that the information presented has strong content and is not advised for students in grade 6 or less.  Free childcare will be provided in our Library, light refreshments will be provided, and the presentation will occur in English and in Spanish.  Please plan to join us for this informative presentation!
