·         Miner Emporium:  Come by the Miner Emporium (student store) and check out the new gear. We have beanies, bucket hats, hoodies and t-shirt with our new logo. Get them while supplies last.



·         The Marines will be on campus on Mondays in the quad area, the Army will be on campus on Tuesdays in front of the Career Center, the Navy will be on campus on Wednesdays in front of the Career Center, and the National Guard will be on campus on Thursdays in the quad area, to answer any questions you may have.










STUDENT NOTES



·         Softball meeting this Friday at lunch, at 12:45 in room 911, mandatory for all players who will be playing softball or who are interested in trying out.

·         Grades 9-11 school picture make-ups will be Wednesday, October 3rd in the Career Center; you must sign-up in Student Services for an appointment.

·         Attention Juniors and Seniors who are thinking of playing sports in College. You must register with the NCAA Eligibility Center to be eligible to participate. Students must be enrolled in a certain number of academic courses in high school to qualify to play at the college level. Qualifications vary based off of the division in which your college participates in athletics. See your Learning Director if you have questions or concerns.

·         Students if you need to request a DMV Pink Slip, please go to Mrs. Springer's room 318 with your transcript. You can put in a request to get your Pink Slip before school, during homeroom, and during lunch. Please allow 2 school days for processing before picking it up. We will no longer issue Pink Slips in the Student Services office.

SENIOR NOTES




·         Seniors if you are interested in applying to a UC, stop by student services to sign up for our UC application workshops. There will be two sessions on Tuesday, September 25th. One will be at 9:00 AM and the other at 11 AM.



·         College of the Sequoias will be on campus for an informational meeting on Wednesday, September 25th and Thursday, September 26th. They will be going over their application, financial aid, and what steps need to be taken to register for classes for the Fall 2019 semester. Senior students will be attending the presentation with their homeroom classes.



·         Seniors: Portrait Makeups with Essence will be Tuesday, October 2nd in the Career Center; you must sigh-up in Student Services for an appointment. This will be for seniors who have not taken their picture yet, not for retakes.



·         The Fresno State Ambassador will be on campus every other Thursday from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM starting September 6th.  If you need help or have questions about your CSU applications, special programs, or just general questions about the CSU system, sign up with Ms. Reynolds in Student Services to make an appointment.

PARENT NOTES



·         Parents: Junior/Senior Parent Night will be on Thursday, September 20th at 6:00pm in the EDHS Theatre. We will discuss important topics including graduation requirements, college workshops, financial aid, and attendance just to name a few. There will be a representative from College of the Sequoias to answer any questions you may have. Jostens will also be present to take JUNIOR class ring orders.



·         Don't miss this opportunity to ignite your curiosity! 5th-12th grade students and their parents/guardians are invited! Join industry professionals for conversations about their professions, training needed, and education requirements. This event will take place Monday, October 15th from 6:00-7:30 PM in the Redwood Cafeteria. It will begin with introductions, followed by multiple career industry panel sessions of your choice. The panels will consist of 3-4 professionals in each career such as; health sciences, culinary, education and many more. Please see the attached flyer for more information.



·         Attention Parents - The Tulare County District Attorney Office will be hosting a special parent night on Tuesday, October 16th, from 6-7 PM in the La Joya Middle School GYM.  The Tulare County District Attorney's office will share information about "The Dangers of Social Media" and its impacts on our students.  This is a great opportunity to learn how to identify the dangers and how it affects students in our community and what is being done to prevent, protect and prosecute.  Be advised that the information presented has strong content and is not advised for students in grade 6 or less.  Free childcare will be provided in our Library, light refreshments will be provided, and the presentation will occur in English and in Spanish.  Please plan to join us for this informative presentation!
