· Miner Emporium: Come by the Miner Emporium (student store) and check out the new gear. We have beanies, bucket hats, hoodies and t-shirts with our new logo. Get them while supplies last.
· The Marines will be on campus on Mondays in the quad area, the Army will be on campus on Tuesdays in front of the Career Center, the Navy will be on campus on Wednesdays in front of the Career Center, and the National Guard will be on campus on Thursdays in the quad area, to answer any questions you may have.
· The Fall rally will take place this Friday, September 28th after 4th period. Please see schedule below:

STUDENT NOTES
Today:
· There will be a meeting at lunch in Coach Moore's room #622, this is mandatory for all players who want to wrestle or who are interested in trying out.
· Animal charity club will have its first meeting today, September 25th at lunch in the gym.
· Seniors if you are interested in applying to a UC, stop by student services to sign up for our UC application workshops. There will be two sessions today, September 25th; at 9:00 AM and 11 AM in the Library. Sign-ups will end at the end of homeroom today.
· College of the Sequoias will be on campus for an informational meeting today, September 25th and tomorrow, September 26th. Senior students will be attending these presentations with their homeroom classes.
New Announcements:
· Students interested in taking the ASVAB test; it will take place Wednesday, October 31st, 2018 at 8:00 AM in the EDHS Library. This test measures a young adult's strengths, weaknesses, and potential for future success. This is for grades 10-12 only. Please sign-up in Student Services.
Old Announcements:
· Grades 9-11 school picture make-ups will be Wednesday, October 3rd in the Career Center; you must sign-up in Student Services for an appointment.
· Attention Juniors and Seniors who are thinking of playing sports in College. You must register with the NCAA Eligibility Center to be eligible to participate. Students must be enrolled in a certain number of academic courses in high school to qualify to play at the college level. Qualifications vary based off of the division in which your college participates in athletics. See your Learning Director if you have questions or concerns.
· Students: Applications are being accepted for students seeking a Congressional Nomination to attend a United States Service Academy. The applications must be mailed or hand delivered to the Visalia office by Thursday, November 15, 2018. This is for all students interested in furthering their education at a U.S. Service Academy. There will be an Academy Night at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 16, 2018. This event will be held at the CUSD Professional Development Building in Clovis. This evening is for students of all grade levels, along with their parents, to meet representatives from the academies, gather more information, and learn about academy life and the congressional nomination process. Please see the attached flyer for more details. The application can be found at the following website: www.nunes.house.gov
· Students if you need to request a DMV Pink Slip, please go to Mrs. Springer's room 318 with your transcript. You can put in a request to get your Pink Slip before school, during homeroom, and during lunch. Please allow 2 school days for processing before picking it up. We will no longer issue Pink Slips in the Student Services office.

· Seniors: Portrait Makeups with Essence will be Tuesday, October 2nd in the Career Center; you must sigh-up in Student Services for an appointment. This will be for seniors who have not taken their picture yet, not for retakes.
· The Fresno State Ambassador will be on campus every other Thursday from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM starting September 6th. If you need help or have questions about your CSU applications, special programs, or just general questions about the CSU system, sign up with Ms. Reynolds in Student Services to make an appointment.

· Don't miss this opportunity to ignite your curiosity! 5th-12th grade students and their parents/guardians are invited! Join industry professionals for conversations about their professions, training needed, and education requirements. This event will take place Monday, October 15th from 6:00-7:30 PM in the Redwood Cafeteria. It will begin with introductions, followed by multiple career industry panel sessions of your choice. The panels will consist of 3-4 professionals in each career such as; health sciences, culinary, education and many more. Please see the attached flyer for more information.
· Attention Parents - The Tulare County District Attorney Office will be hosting a special parent night on Tuesday, October 16th, from 6-7 PM in the La Joya Middle School GYM. The Tulare County District Attorney's office will share information about "The Dangers of Social Media" and its impacts on our students. This is a great opportunity to learn how to identify the dangers and how it affects students in our community and what is being done to prevent, protect and prosecute. Be advised that the information presented has strong content and is not advised for students in grade 6 or less. Free childcare will be provided in our Library, light refreshments will be provided, and the presentation will occur in English and in Spanish. Please plan to join us for this informative presentation!
