*         Miner Emporium:  Come by the Miner Emporium (student store) and check out the new gear. We have beanies, bucket hats, hoodies and t-shirts with our new logo. Get them while supplies last.

*         The Marines will be on campus on Mondays in the quad area, the Army will be on campus on Tuesdays in front of the Career Center, the Navy will be on campus on Wednesdays in front of the Career Center, and the National Guard will be on campus on Thursdays in the quad area, to answer any questions you may have.



*         The Mr. Miner rally will take place today, February 8th. Below is the bell schedule:

*         Mr. Miner 2.0 week will be full of fun dress up days and lunchtime activities:

Dress up days for Mr. Miner 2.0  Week :

Monday- Mr. Color wear the color for each class:
9-pink,    10-blue,    11-green,    12-orange
Tuesday- Mr. Hawaii - think Hawaiian shirt, leis, etc.
Wednesday- Mr. Holiday- dress in the outfit or t-shirt from your favorite holiday
Thursday- Mr. America - wear your most patriotic attire
Friday- Mr. Fancy - dress to impress- semi formal, suit and ties

Remember all clothing worn for dress up days must meet VUSD dress code guidelines.  No swimwear allowed for any of the days.







STUDENT NOTES




Today:

*         The location for the Midsummer's Night's Dream auditions has officially changed! Auditions will take place in the El Diamante Theatre, today February 8th, beginning at 4 PM. Be sure to bring your signed Audition Form. Break a leg everyone! Students will need to prepare a 30-60 second monologue from a comedic play for their initial audition. Any students interested in auditioning should see Mr. Toon in Room 404 for audition tips, dress code requirements, and an audition form.

New Announcements:

*         Come play some Corn Hole and Spike Ball with FCA during lunch in front of the Library on Thursday 2/14 as part of Kindness Week!

Old Announcements:

*         Yearbook announcement: Hey Miners, if you want to get your name on your yearbook, you need to order it from the finance center, in room 603, or at Jostens.com by February 15th. You can reserve a book for only $20, with the rest due in May.

*         Save the shoes! The PTSA and ASB are having a Shoe Drive Fundraiser.  We welcome you to go through your closets or hit the clearance racks at the store and bring in gently used or new shoes or boots.  We will turn them in for cash. The shoes are then sent on to be refurbished and given to people in need! Our goal is to have 2500 pairs of shoes by March 15th.<x-apple-data-detectors://39> You can drop them off in the office, or save them for the classroom competition in February. Winning class gets a donut/pizza party!

*         The new IntraDistrict transfer forms are now available in the registration office. If you plan on attending another High School for the 2019-2020 school year, you must submit one of these forms. The 1st Lottery deadline is on February 9th. The 2nd lottery deadline is on April 15th.  You must have an approved IntraDistrict transfer to attend a High School that is not in your home boundary line.

*         Attention Students: Headgear is not allowed. This includes hats, caps, bandanas, sweatbands, hairnets, head bands, do-rags, and beanies. This dress code will be enforced and you will be asked to remove with possible confiscation and parent pick up.

*         Students if you need to request a DMV Pink Slip, please go to Mrs. Springer's room 318 with your transcript. You can put in a request to get your Pink Slip before school, during homeroom, and during lunch. Please allow 2 school days for processing before picking it up. We will no longer issue Pink Slips in the Student Services office.

*         To all parents, students, and teachers: Ivan Rodriguez from Visalia Youth Services will be our guest speaker at the next PTSA meeting.  He will speak on the topic of mental health.  All are welcome to join us for these very important topics on teen depression, stress, suicide awareness and prevention. The meeting is Monday, February 11 at 5:30 PM in the El Diamante school library.  You do not need to be a PTSA member to come to this meeting!



*         The Miner Foundation meets each month to plan and prepare for our Fundraising Dinner and Auction. Proceeds from the evening will go to back to clubs/ teams and also a portion will go towards Miner Foundation that is used for scholarships and campus-wide projects. Please join us to plan and prepare for our upcoming event!  We will meet in the Career Center on Monday, February 11th at 5:30 PM.
