This is a wonderful public speaking opportunity to earn money toward higher education by presenting a 10 minute speech at one of the Lions Clubs in Visalia. Amounts of awards begin at $100 and increase through each of the 6 levels of competition. If you are interested or would like to know more, see Ms. Reynolds in Student Services who has more information and interest letters that need to be returned before January 17 in order for you to be contacted by a Visalia Lions Club member. This is a wonderful and exciting opportunity given throughout the state of California. Mr. Miner applications are now available in Student Services. You must have the application turned in by January 25th by 3:30 PM. Miner Week will begin on February 4th and conclude on February 8th with an assembly and carnival. * On Friday, January 18th the Miner Varsity Basketball teams will be hosting Golden West. We will have a tailgate from 4:30 - 6:00 PM in front of the gym. We will have music, food, and fun. Students who attend the tailgate will get in free to the game. During half-time, there will be free throw competitions and a special game for our Miner Fusion students against Golden West. Come out and support all of our Miner Basketball teams. * All members of the girls swim team please meet in Room 502 after school on Wed. Jan 16th to discuss schedule and try on suits. * Seniors: The FAFSA #2 workshop will take place Monday, February 4th from 6:00-8:00 PM in the Library. This is a wonderful public speaking opportunity to earn money toward higher education by presenting a 10 minute speech at one of the Lions Clubs in Visalia. Amounts of awards begin at $100 and increase through each of the 6 levels of competition. If you are interested or would like to know more, see Ms. Reynolds in Student Services who has more information and interest letters that need to be returned before January 17 in order for you to be contacted by a Visalia Lions Club member. This is a wonderful and exciting opportunity given throughout the state of California. We encourage all students to consider participating in this annual event as they move forward with their education. * Save the shoes! The PTSA is having a Shoe Drive Fundraiser starting in January. We welcome you to go through your closets or hit the clearance racks at the store and bring in gently used or new shoes or boots. We will turn them in for cash. The shoes are then sent on to be refurbished and given to people in need! Our goal is to have 2500 pairs of shoes by March 15. Requests for teacher changes and period changes or elective changes cannot be accommodated due to the impact these type of change have on class size. You must have an approved IntraDistrict transfer to attend a High School that is not in your home boundary line. * Save the shoes! The PTSA is having a Shoe Drive Fundraiser starting in January. We welcome you to go through your closets or hit the clearance racks at the store and bring in gently used or new shoes or boots. We will turn them in for cash. The shoes are then sent on to be refurbished and given to people in need! Our goal is to have 2500 pairs of shoes by March 15. You can reserve a book for only $20, with the rest due in May. * Auditions for the Miner Diamond Players' spring production, A Midsummer's Night's Dream, will be held on Friday, February 15th from 4pm-7pm in Room 404. Students will need to prepare a 30-60 second monologue from a comedic play for their initial audition. Any students interested in auditioning should see Mr. Toon in Room 404 for audition tips, dress code requirements, and an audition form by Friday, February 8th. * The new IntraDistrict transfer forms are now available in the registration office. If you plan on attending another High School for the 2019-2020 school year, you must submit one of these forms. The 1st Lottery deadline is on February 9th. The 2nd lottery deadline is on April 15th. You must have an approved IntraDistrict transfer to attend a High School that is not in your home boundary line. * Save the shoes! The PTSA is having a Shoe Drive Fundraiser. We welcome you to go through your closets or hit the clearance racks at the store and bring in gently used or new shoes or boots. We will turn them in for cash. The shoes are then sent on to be refurbished and given to people in need! Our goal is to have 2500 pairs of shoes by March 15. You can drop them off in the office, or save them for the classroom competition in January. Winning class gets a donut/pizza party! * Attention Students: Headgear is not allowed.
