*         Miner Emporium:  Come by the Miner Emporium (student store) and check out the new gear. We have beanies, bucket hats, hoodies and t-shirts with our new logo. Get them while supplies last.

*         The Marines will be on campus on Mondays in the quad area, the Army will be on campus on Tuesdays in front of the Career Center, the Navy will be on campus on Wednesdays in front of the Career Center, and the National Guard will be on campus on Thursdays in the quad area, to answer any questions you may have.

*         Today, January 25th we will have our winter rally where we will be honoring our winter sports. We will be on the following bell schedule:

STUDENT NOTES

Today:

*         Attention Senior Miners!!! Mr. Miner applications are available in Student Services.  You must have the application turned in by today, January 25th by 3:30 PM.  Miner Week will begin on February 4th and conclude on February 8th with an assembly and carnival.

New Announcements:

*         Softball program parent night on Tuesday, January 29th @5:30 pm in the cafeteria. Please come with your parent/guardian to sign contracts for the season and to learn about expectations and season activities.

*         Come join FCA Club and hear a 16 year MLB veteran and World Series Champion speak on Thursday, January 31st @ Lunch in the GYM. Taquitos will be provided until we run out.

*         Ivan Rodriguez from Visalia Youth Services will be our guest speaker at the next PTSA meeting.  He will speak on the topic of mental health.  We hope you will join us for this very important topic related to our children's health and well-being. The meeting is Monday, February 11 at 5:30 pm in the El Diamante school library.  You do not need to be a PTSA member to come to this meeting!

Old Announcements:

*         CSF registration will take place Monday, January 28th through Friday, February 1st. Sign-up in Room 617 during homeroom and lunch. Applications are now available in Room 608, 609, and 617.

*         2nd Semester Schedule Changes: Due to the lack of openings in classes, there will be no schedule changes unless the following errors occur:

*         You have an incomplete schedule.

*         You have already completed and passed a class listed on your schedule or

*         You need to be enrolled in a required class that is missing from your schedule.

Requests for teacher changes and period changes or elective changes cannot be accommodated due to the impact these type of change have on class size. If you want to drop an AP class, please see your AP teacher or the Student Services Office for the Request to Drop an AP Course form. Please review this form with your AP teacher and Parents and obtain the required signatures. Student Services encourages you to fill in a request to see your LD if you have concerns with your schedule. The request to see your LD can be submitted through the Google form at https://goo.gl/forms/0Sa7OY801v2Jy64k1. Thank you!

*         Yearbook announcement: Hey Miners, if you want to get your name on your yearbook, you need to order it from the finance center, in room 603, or at Jostens.com by February 15th. You can reserve a book for only $20, with the rest due in May.

*         The new IntraDistrict transfer forms are now available in the registration office. If you plan on attending another High School for the 2019-2020 school year, you must submit one of these forms. The 1st Lottery deadline is on February 9th. The 2nd lottery deadline is on April 15th.  You must have an approved IntraDistrict transfer to attend a High School that is not in your home boundary line.

*         Save the shoes! The PTSA is having a Shoe Drive Fundraiser.  We welcome you to go through your closets or hit the clearance racks at the store and bring in gently used or new shoes or boots.  We will turn them in for cash.  The shoes are then sent on to be refurbished and given to people in need!  Our goal is to have 2500 pairs of shoes by March 15. You can drop them off in the office, or save them for the classroom competition in January.  Winning class gets a donut/pizza party!

*         Attention Students: Headgear is not allowed. This includes hats, caps, bandanas, sweatbands, hairnets, head bands, do-rags, and beanies. This dress code will be enforced and you will be asked to remove with possible confiscation and parent pick up.

*         Students if you need to request a DMV Pink Slip, please go to Mrs. Springer's room 318 with your transcript. You can put in a request to get your Pink Slip before school, during homeroom, and during lunch. Please allow 2 school days for processing before picking it up. We will no longer issue Pink Slips in the Student Services office.

SENIOR NOTES

*         CSF Seniors: Applications for CSF scholarships are currently available in Google Classroom and in Room 617 (Mr. Perez). Completed applications are due Thursday, January 31. You must apply for a CSF scholarship in order to be considered for the Seymour Award.

*         Seniors- College Covered is offering a drawing to randomly select eligible students to win a $10,000 scholarship award to help pay for college. Visit scholarship.collegecovered.com/rules<Scholarship.CollegeCovered.com/Rules> for the official rules and instructions on how to enter. The deadline is January 31, 2019.

*         The El Diamante High School Local Scholarship Application is now open. The deadline to submit your application is February 1st, 2019.  To submit your application, visit: https://goo.gl/BJrxjY.

*         The FAFSA #2 workshop will take place Monday, February 4th from 6:00-8:00 PM in the Library. Sign up in Student Services if you're interested in attending this workshop.

*         Seniors: If you have applied and plan on attending COS after graduation; there will be a COS representative here to make counselor appointments for you on Tuesday, February 19th from 8:30AM-12:30PM. If you are interested in this, please sign up in Student Services. You must have applied to COS in order to attend this workshop.

*         Seniors and parents of seniors, if you want to order a senior ad, you need to do so by the end of February. After that final deadline, you won't get an ad in the yearbook. All materials and payments need to be turned in by February 28. Come to the finance center or Jarocki's room, 603, or go to Jostens.com for more info.

*         Seniors: If your parent is a member of the Tulare County Charter of A.C.S.A, there is a scholarship opportunity available to you. Stop by Student Services for the application and more information. The deadline is March 8th, 2019.

*         College Board is offering opportunities to earn scholarships that range from $500-$2,000. For more information and to apply, please visit: https://opportunity.collegeboard.org/?excmpid=vt-00248.
