*         Miner Emporium:  Come by the Miner Emporium (student store) and check out the new gear. We have beanies, bucket hats, hoodies and t-shirts with our new logo. Get them while supplies last.

*         The Marines will be on campus on Mondays, the Army will be on campus on Tuesdays, and the National Guard will be on campus Thursday's in the quad area during lunch to answer any questions you may have. If you are interested in the Navy or the Air Force, please stop by Student Services so we can set up an appointment for you.






STUDENT NOTES




Today:

*         El Diamante will be hosting Future Miner Night tonight at 6:00 PM in the El Diamante Gym. We will have information on Registration, Linked Learning Academies, Electives, Co-Curricular Opportunities, Athletics and more. There will also be a campus tour. *         Immediately following the Future Miner Night presentation, El Diamante will be hosting an Open House. This will be an opportunity for parents and students to visit high school classrooms, speak with teachers regarding high school programs and curriculum, tour the campus and ask any clarifying questions you may have. There will be food trucks available.

*         Leadership/ASB applications are available in room 601 or Student Services. The deadline to turn in the completed application is today, March 11th. If you have questions see Mrs. McBride in room 601.

*         Put a friend, teacher, or administrator in jail! Mock Trial is having a fundraiser this week March 11th -15th. $1.00 buys you a "ticket" to give someone to put them in jail until they pay their fine or pick up trash. Come to room 606 during lunch, today thru Wednesday the 13th to purchase your "ticket." The one receiving the "ticket" will have to visit our "jail" in room 606 at lunch on Thursday the 14th or Friday the 15th to bail themselves out. They will pay a fine of $1.00 or pick up trash on the campus. They can also hire an attorney for $1.00 to help them plead their case. Do not miss out on the fun! Also - a person can only receive 1 ticket.

New Announcements:

*         In Motion Dance Team Tryouts for the 2019/2020 will be held March 27th & 28th at 5 PM in the EDHS dance room. Stop by Student Services or visit Miss Skadan to grab a tryout packet/get more info!

*         Cheer Tryouts will be held April 8th-11th in the EDHS Gym 4-6 PM. Cheer packets are available in Student Services- packets must be turned in by 3/29 in order to try out for the squad- no exceptions. See Miss Skadan for further details.

*         Attention Junior and Senior students: It's that time of year again! The ANNUAL ENCHANTED EVENING PROM DRESS event will be taking place on Saturday, April 13th at the Wyndham Hotel Back Entrance (Formally known as the Visalia Holiday Inn) at 6:00 AM. You must sign up in the Student Services Office by Friday, April 5th, 2019.

Old Announcements:

*         Winter sports pictures are available for pick up in the Discipline Office.

*         Current Juniors; if you attended one of the COS Dual Enrollment meetings w/ Mr. Stahl and want to be considered for the English 1 COS Dual Enrollment class your senior year, YOU MUST come into Student Services to sign up for the COS Application Workshop by tomorrow, March 12th. Stop by Student Services if you have any questions.

*         Auditions for Advanced Drama are coming up! Anyone with any level of drama experience is welcome to audition. Students enrolled in the class will study production-making from the ground up, starting with play analysis of the fall show script. Auditions will be held in Room 404 from 4-7 PM Friday, the 15th of March! Sign up with Toon to get an audition form and to pick an audition time. Break a leg!

*         Save the shoes! The PTSA and ASB are having a Shoe Drive Fundraiser.  We welcome you to go through your closets or hit the clearance racks at the store and bring in gently used or new shoes or boots.  We will turn them in for cash. The shoes are then sent on to be refurbished and given to people in need! Our goal is to have 2500 pairs of shoes by this Friday, March 15th.<x-apple-data-detectors://39> You can drop them off in the office, or save them for the classroom competition in February. Winning class gets a donut/pizza party!

*         AVID Tutor Applications for the 2019-2020 school year are available in Student Services and on the EDHS website. There will no longer be Academic Tutor or Teacher Aide course selections for the 2019-2020 school year. The deadline to turn in your AVID tutor applications will be Friday, March 22nd by 4 PM to Student Services.

*         Students: There will be a College & Career Expo on Friday, March 29th from 8:30 AM to 1:30 PM at College of the Sequoias. The College and Career EXPO provides students the opportunity to compete in college and career oriented competitions, spend some time on a college campus, and be recognized for achievements in their chosen field of study. Transportation to this event will be provided. Please sign up in Student Services.

*         Attention sophomores and juniors: Interested in developing your leadership skills and learning about public policy? Then apply to the Chicano Latino Youth Leadership Project. You could spend one week at Sac State University for the Sacramento Leadership Conference, or 3 days in Fresno for the San Joaquin Valley Institute. Come get more information in the Student Services Office. The deadline to apply for both programs is April 15th.

*         The new IntraDistrict transfer forms are now available in the registration office. If you plan on attending another High School for the 2019-2020 school year, you must submit one of these forms. The 1st Lottery deadline is on February 9th. The 2nd lottery deadline is on April 15th.  You must have an approved IntraDistrict transfer to attend a High School that is not in your home boundary line.

*         Attention Students: Headgear is not allowed. This includes hats, caps, bandanas, sweatbands, hairnets, head bands, do-rags, and beanies. This dress code will be enforced and you will be asked to remove with possible confiscation and parent pick up.

*         Students if you need to request a DMV Pink Slip, please go to Mrs. Springer's room 318 with your transcript. You can put in a request to get your Pink Slip before school, during homeroom, and during lunch. Please allow 2-3 school days for processing before picking it up. We will no longer issue Pink Slips in the Student Services office.

SENIOR NOTES




*         Seniors: If you completed the EDHS local scholarship application; the Miner Foundation Scholarship application is now available to you in Student Services. There will be 20 scholarships at $500 each given to qualified senior students. The applications are due by Friday, March 15th, 2019.

*         Seniors: Cap and Gowns will be delivered to seniors who have placed an order next Thursday, March 21st during homeroom. If you have not ordered your cap and gown please contact Jostens as soon as possible. Students must check into their homeroom classes before heading into the gym to pick up their cap and gowns. You must have your student ID card with you to pick up for items. See your Learning Director if you have questions.

*         Scholarship applications are now available for the El Diamante PTSA scholarship.  Seniors that have been members of PTSA for 30 days or more are eligible! The deadline for the scholarship application is March 29th, 2019. *         Attention Seniors!! If you are interested in auditioning for the musical performance at the El Diamante High School Graduation Ceremony on June 4th, please sign up in Student Services Office before Wednesday, April 10th. Auditions will be on Wednesday, April 24th at lunch and/or after school in room #702. If you sign up to audition, you must submit your song choice and lyrics to Mrs. Vang by Friday, April 12th.

*         Attention Seniors! If you are interested in auditioning to be the Graduation Speaker at the El Diamante High School Graduation Ceremony on June 4th, please sign up in the Student Services Office by Tuesday, April 23rd and pick up the information sheet detailing the speech criteria. You must submit a copy of your speech by April 25th to Mrs. Vang. Auditions will be at lunch and/or after school in the Career Center on Tuesday, April 30th. See Mrs. Vang if you have questions.

*         Seniors: If you missed your chance to speak with the COS reps about scheduling a counseling appointment, it is now on you. Call 730-3715 to schedule an appointment to meet with a COS counselor.
