*         The Marines will be on campus on Mondays, the Army will be on campus on Tuesdays, and the National Guard will be on campus Thursday's in the quad area during lunch to answer any questions you may have. If you are interested in the Navy or the Air Force, please stop by Student Services so we can set up an appointment for you.

STUDENT NOTES

New Announcements:

*         Attention Students interested in Travel!!! Mr. Sheaff will be having an info meeting next Wed. May 15th at 6pm in Room 302 for next year's Summer 2020 Europe Trip to London, Paris and Amsterdam. Stop by his room to get a brochure and find out more.

*         The Ablaze Catholic Club will be praying the rosary for graduating seniors at lunch by the pool on Wednesday, May 14. This event is open to all students, so if you are a senior, or know a senior who needs some prayer, join us. Rosaries and guides will be provided.

*         VUSD seeks students to serve on the Inclusivity Task Force starting fall 2019.  During the 18-19 school year, the task force members focused on dress code.  Topics for the 19-20 school year will be determined by the membership of the task force. To apply for membership on the task force, go to https://forms.gle/8Jjv7M8eabPCxaNa7 and complete the application by May 24, 2019. Old Announcements:

*         Attention Juniors: The Juniors Class Meeting has been scheduled for Tuesday, May 21 during homeroom in the gym. Important information regarding senior pictures to be presented and voting for next years' Grad Nite destination will be announced. Please report to your homeroom teacher first then you will be escorted to the gym with your homeroom teacher.

*         Anyone interested in playing girls volleyball next year who did not play last year must come to room 368 to get summer information from Mr. Clyburne.

*         Athletic Awards are going to be held on Monday, May 13th at 6:00 PM in the EDHS Gym. Come out and show your support to our athletes.

*         WIN Academy (also known as Saturday University) will be this Saturday, May 11 from 8:15 AM-12:15 PM. There will be a sign on the front gate letting you know which room to go to. Bring your friends and have fun while making up attendance! If you have any questions, please see Mr. Abbott in room 366.

*         Last year, El Diamante donated almost 180 pints of blood, the most of any high school in Visalia! This year we are shooting for even more! The Blood Drive is scheduled from 12:30 PM - 3:30 PM on Thursday, May 23rd. If you are 16 years old, 110 pounds or more, in good health and have the required parent permission form, you can donate! Student signups are in the Student Services office if you choose to donate. Staff and parents are welcome to donate as well.

*         Looking for a summer job? Employment Connection is having a Job Fair on Tuesday, June 11th and is open to students 16 or older. See the attached flyer for more information or stop by Student Services.

*         Attention Juniors and Seniors:  THE JUNIOR/SENIOR PROM "A Night on the Magic Carpet" is Saturday, May 11th from 8 - 11 PM at the Visalia Convention Center! Tickets will be on sale starting May 6. Prices are $25 single ticket with ASB; $35 single ticket w/o ASB; $55 single ticket at the door.  If your date to the PROM is not currently a Junior or Senior in VUSD you must have an approved guest pass for them to purchase a ticket.

*         Facet Night begins at 5:30 PM on Wednesday, May 23 for Seniors ONLY. Facet Night will begin for all Underclassmen at 6:00 PM. Yearbooks will be distributed in the EDHS Library. If MONEY IS OWED, there will be a sales table with extra autograph sections, photo pocket pages, and clear protective covers for sale. If there are any Yearbooks left, they will be on sale on a first come, first serve basis for $90 each. All transactions must be in cash. Food trucks will be present for purchase of food during Senior Sunset.

*         Attention Students: Headgear is not allowed. This includes hats, caps, bandanas, sweatbands, hairnets, head bands, do-rags, and beanies. This dress code will be enforced and you will be asked to remove with possible confiscation and parent pick up.

*         Dress Code Reminder: See-through or fish-net fabrics, halter tops, tube tops, bare midriff, spaghetti straps, off-the-shoulder; excessively short skirts or shorts and low-cut tops are not acceptable. Basketball jersey style tank tops with scooped front and armholes must be worn with a T-shirt. Shirts with cut-off sleeves are not allowed.

*         Students if you need to request a DMV Pink Slip, please go to Mrs. Springer's room 318 with your transcript and pink slip request form. You can put in a request to get your Pink Slip before school, during homeroom, and during lunch. Please allow 2-3 school days for processing before picking it up. We will no longer issue Pink Slips in the Student Services office.

SENIOR NOTES

*         Attention Graduating Seniors: EL DIAMANTE CLASS OF 2019 FINAL TRANSCRIPT REQUESTS must be made using the online Google form found on the El Diamante website under Student Services/Transcript Request: https://www.vusd.org/Page/16520.  Once you have accepted the college/university you will be attending Fall 2019, please fill out the request form. You must include the COMPLETE MAILING ADDRESS for the college/university you will be attending. Final transcripts will be mailed out the week of June 17, 2019 after grades have posted.

*         The Senior Reflections Assembly is on Friday, May 17. All seniors are required to still attend 2nd period class in order to attend their Grad Nite trip to Universal Studios. All students grades 9-12 will attend the Reflections Assembly. Seniors will meet with their homeroom teacher on the blacktop (basketball courts/west side of the gym) to walk into the assembly together. We will not have homeroom on May 17. Teachers, you will need to bring your class evacuation sign or the sign your class has created and wait until Mr. Sheaff announces your name to enter with your class onto the gym floor. When your class is called, you will lead your senior homeroom inside the gym with your sign held high as each homeroom class is recognized. Please get students seated as quickly as possible on the gym floor so that we can start promptly. If you have questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to ask.

*         Seniors Attending Grad Nite:  As a reminder, you must attend school on Thursday, May 16th in order to be eligible to attend Grad Nite on Friday, 5/17/19.  The only acceptable excuse would be a Doctor's note to clear the absence. All seniors planning to attend Grad Nite must be in their 2nd period class the morning of May 17th.
