Today:

*         TODAY is Kindness Day. Express your kindness by wearing a cardigan sweater in the spirit of Mr. Rogers and let's make it a beautiful day in the Miner neighborhood. There will be music at the outdoor stage at lunch and photo opps that you can send to #cardiganday.

New Announcements:

*         The EDHS Chess Club went to their first Tournament this past weekend in Clovis and took 3rd place out of 18 teams. If you see Josiah Silva, Oman Villanueva, Jesus Lopez, Richard Teo or Samuel Garland please congratulate them on a job well done.

*         The COS Scholarship application deadline is fast approaching! Do not miss out on this great scholarship opportunity! The deadline to submit your application is November 25th. Please see the attachment, "Scholarship Information" for more information on how to apply.

Old Announcements:

*         It's almost time for the senior panoramic picture.  Mark your calendars for next Thursday, November 14th during homeroom.  Report to your homeroom class first!  Your teacher will escort you to the Gym for the picture. No props, sign hand gestures, etc.  Please be careful not to block anyone's face from the pictures.  T-shirt designs must adhere to VUSD dress code guidelines.  Anyone not willing to follow these guidelines and those of the photographer and administration will be asked to leave and will not be in the picture.  Thanks in advance for your cooperation!

*         Miner's Got Talent Fall Show is November 14th in the El Diamante Theater at 6 PM. Admission is $2 or two canned food items. All proceeds will go to the PTSA Holiday Food Drive.

*         Applications are being accepted for students seeking a Congressional Nomination to attend a United States Service Academy. For graduating seniors, the Academy Nomination Application must be mailed or hand delivered to Congressman Nunes' Visalia Office by Friday, November 15th, 2019. Please see the attached flyer for more information.

*         Fresno State's Information Systems and Decision Sciences Department is hosting a special event for high school students to inform them about this discipline and the many career opportunities on November 16th from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. There will be free food and prizes for all attendees. Students will have a chance to network with current Fresno State students and faculty in the department. Please see the attachment, "Fresno State Special Event" for more information.

*         Reflections Art Contest entries are due this month! Friday, November 22nd is the last day to turn in your entries for the PTSA Reflections Art Contest. Check this link out for more information!  https://capta.org/programs-events/reflections/. There are flyers around campus with information as well, or ask your art/dance teachers.

*         The XL Program will be offering a NASA Workshop on December 6th in Computer Lab 62 from 3:30 PM - 4:30 PM for students who are interested in an internship with NASA. Please see the attachment, "XL NASA Workshop" for more information.

*         The El Diamante<x-apple-data-detectors://0> Choir is selling EDHS logo Blankets and Pop Sockets. They make for great Christmas presents and stocking stuffers. *         The EDHS PTSA is looking for your used Miner Gear.  If you have Miner shirts, shorts, sweats, etc that are too small/large or just sitting in your closet, please consider donating them to the PTSA.  We will resell them at our meetings, and proceeds will go toward Holiday Care Packages and student scholarships.  You can drop them off in the office, in a bag labeled "PTSA."

SENIOR NOTES

*         College Application Deadlines & Help: Below are some of the most common application deadlines for this fall college application season. Mr. Stahl will be available for college application help from Oct 2 Nov 22 every WED and FRI in computer lab 61 during homeroom.  Come by the Student Services Office and sign up to receive a Homeroom Pass to attend. REMINDER THAT ALL CSU/UC APPLICATIONS ARE DUE ON NOVEMBER 30TH. The last day to get help from Mr. Stahl is NOVEMBER 22, before we go on break.

*         Seniors:  Grad Nite is Friday, May 15th, 2020. The destination will be Disneyland and CA Adventure Park. The cost for Grad Nite is $245, CASH ONLY; tickets will go on sale at 7:30 a.m. on Monday, 3/2/20 - this is the ONLY day you can purchase tickets. The ticket is non-refundable! You will need to line up to purchase your tickets with the people you want to be on the same bus with.  There will be NO BUS CHANGES after you purchase your ticket.  Students are not permitted on campus until 7:00 a.m. - "camping out" is not allowed.  In order to purchase your tickets to Grad Nite, you MUST be on track to graduate, be on track with a 94% attendance rate the week prior to Grad Nite and make sure to clear all fines through the Finance office and the Library.  You will not be admitted to purchase tickets for Grad Nite without a completed Grad Nite Permission packet which includes your parent signatures and signatures from the library and finance office.  NO EXCEPTIONS.  Copies of the permission packet will be provide to seniors at the Senior Meeting in February. Afterwards, they will also be available on the EDHS website and in the Student Services Office.
