STUDENT NOTES

Today:

*         Applications are being accepted for students seeking a Congressional Nomination to attend a United States Service Academy. For graduating seniors, the Academy Nomination Application must be mailed or hand delivered to Congressman Nunes' Visalia Office by TONIGHT. Please see the attached flyer for more information.

*         Students in the Media Arts Academy ONLY are invited to our movie night in the library from 6-9 tonight. Bring your dinner or a snack to share.

*         TOMORROW we will be having another Saturday University. If you are a Senior needing to makeup attendance, then come to Saturday University. Even if you aren't a Senior needing to makeup attendance, please consider coming to Saturday University. The classes are designed to be fun, interactive, and worth your time. You will also have an opportunity to do school work and improve your grades. Come with friends or ask your favorite teacher if they would be willing to teach Saturday University. Plus there's free food! Our next session is tomorrow from 8:15am-12:15pm here on campus. Please stop by Mr. Abbott's room 366 to sign up or for more information. Hope to see you there!

*         Fresno State's Information Systems and Decision Sciences Department is hosting a special event for high school students to inform them about this discipline and the many career opportunities on TOMORROW November 16th from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. There will be free food and prizes for all attendees. Students will have a chance to network with current Fresno State students and faculty in the department. Please see the attachment, "Fresno State Special Event" for more information.

New Announcements:

*         Attention Diamond Seniors! You will be receiving a treat next Tuesday during homeroom!

*         Winter Formal will be held on Saturday, December 7th from 8 - 11 PM in the Golden West High School Gym. Tickets will go on sale beginning Monday, December 2nd in the Finance Office before school, during lunch or after school for $20 per single ticket w/ASB, $30 per single ticket w/o ASB, $50 per single ticket at the door. Tickets will be on sale through lunch on Friday, December 6th.  If you do not purchase your tickets by the end of lunch on Friday, you will have to purchase tickets at the door for the increased price.  If your date to the dance is NOT a VUSD student you must have an approved guest pass in order for your guest to attend the dance. Guest passes may be picked up in the Student Services Office and must be turned back in to Mrs. Calvero no later than Wednesday, December 4th by 3:30 pm in order to get it approved (NO LATE GUEST PASSES WILL BE APPROVED!). Remember that you must be clear of all fines in order to be eligible to attend. In addition, you must present a current valid school I.D. at the door to be admitted to the dance! No exceptions! Appropriate dancing and behavior is expected! Dress Code will be strictly enforced. Please see "Winter Formal 2019" flyer for information.

*         Reflections Art Contest entries are due this month! Friday, November 22nd is the last day to turn in your entries for the PTSA Reflections Art Contest. Check this link out for more information!  https://capta.org/programs-events/reflections/. There are flyers around campus with information as well, or ask your art/dance teachers.

*         The COS Scholarship application deadline is fast approaching! Do not miss out on this great scholarship opportunity! The deadline to submit your application is November 25th. Please see the attachment, "Scholarship Information" for more information on how to apply.

*         The XL Program will be offering a NASA Workshop on December 6th in Computer Lab 62 from 3:30 PM - 4:30 PM for students who are interested in an internship with NASA. Please see the attachment, "XL NASA Workshop" for more information.

*         The El Diamante<x-apple-data-detectors://0> Choir is selling EDHS logo Blankets and Pop Sockets. They make for great Christmas presents and stocking stuffers. *         The EDHS PTSA is looking for your used Miner Gear.  If you have Miner shirts, shorts, sweats, etc that are too small/large or just sitting in your closet, please consider donating them to the PTSA.  We will resell them at our meetings, and proceeds will go toward Holiday Care Packages and student scholarships.  You can drop them off in the office, in a bag labeled "PTSA."

SENIOR NOTES

*         College Application Deadlines & Help: Below are some of the most common application deadlines for this fall college application season. Mr. Stahl will be available for college application help from Oct 2 Nov 22 every WED and FRI in computer lab 61 during homeroom.  Come by the Student Services Office and sign up to receive a Homeroom Pass to attend. REMINDER THAT ALL CSU/UC APPLICATIONS ARE DUE ON NOVEMBER 30TH. The last day to get help from Mr. Stahl is NOVEMBER 22, before we go on break.

*         Seniors:  Grad Nite is Friday, May 15th, 2020. The destination will be Disneyland and CA Adventure Park. The cost for Grad Nite is $245, CASH ONLY; tickets will go on sale at 7:30 a.m. on Monday, 3/2/20 - this is the ONLY day you can purchase tickets. The ticket is non-refundable! You will need to line up to purchase your tickets with the people you want to be on the same bus with.  There will be NO BUS CHANGES after you purchase your ticket.  Students are not permitted on campus until 7:00 a.m. - "camping out" is not allowed.  In order to purchase your tickets to Grad Nite, you MUST be on track to graduate, be on track with a 94% attendance rate the week prior to Grad Nite and make sure to clear all fines through the Finance office and the Library.  You will not be admitted to purchase tickets for Grad Nite without a completed Grad Nite Permission packet which includes your parent signatures and signatures from the library and finance office.  NO EXCEPTIONS.  Copies of the permission packet will be provide to seniors at the Senior Meeting in February. Afterwards, they will also be available on the EDHS website and in the Student Services Office.
