*         Battle Week is this week! The activities and dress up days are listed below:

*         The Freshmen and JV Football Games will be played TONIGHT.  El Diamante is the away team for this game; therefore, all ASB stickers and Family passes will NOT be honored at this game.  Freshmen game begins at 5:00 p.m. and JV at 7:00 p.m.


New Announcements:


*         Respect for All Humans (our school's GSA Club) meets TODAY at lunch in room 364! Join us for a treat.

*         Rooter's Bus for the BATTLE FOR THE SADDLE game!  Support Miner Football and ride the Rooter's bus to the game this Friday, November 1st.  Permission Forms are available through Homeroom or in Student Services Office.  Cost is $1. Please turn in your permission form and money to the Finance Office.  You can pay at the bus if you don't get it turned in to finance. It's our big rival game, so go all out and wear your GREEN to support your team!



*         Welcome all to Saturday University. If you are a Senior needing to makeup attendance, then come to Saturday University. Even if you aren't a Senior needing to makeup attendance, please consider coming to Saturday University. The classes are designed to be fun, interactive, and worth your time. You will also have an opportunity to do school work and improve your grades. Come with friends or ask your favorite teacher if they would be willing to teach Saturday University. Plus there's free food! Our next session is Nov. 2 from 8:15am-12:15pm here on campus. Please stop by Mr. Abbott's room 366 to signup or for more information. Hope to see you there!

*         The El Diamante High School Local Scholarship Application is now open. The deadline to submit your application is Friday, January 31st, 2020 at 4:00 PM.  To submit your application, please click here<https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1IixwRQfIVi-A0JqTeUgnddvT29pu3RvkdjJshRBnNDc/>.
Old Announcements:


*         IMPORTANT INFORMATION ON THE BATTLE FOR THE SADDLE ASSEMBLY - November 1.  Due to the limited space available during the Battle for the Saddle assembly, priority seating will be given to current students at El Diamante High School.  Parents/Guardians will need to have a ticket in order to attend the Battle for the Saddle Assembly.  Tickets will be issued to senior football players for Parents/Guardians.  These tickets will only admit 1 Parent/Guardian.  Please present your ticket at the front gate between 11:25 AM to receive your visitor's pass.  Tickets will not be honored after 11:40 AM. The Battle Rally Schedule will be as follows:

*         Battle for the Saddle Varsity Football Game Ticket Sales for Friday, November 1st - Pre-sale tickets to the Battle for the Saddle Varsity football game go on sale in the Finance Office beginning Monday, October 28 until Thursday, October 31 from 7:45 am to 3:45 pm.  Ticket Prices:  $7 for Adults, $5 for Students and Senior Citizens.  Tickets are on a cash only basis, no checks or credit cards will be accepted.  El Diamante is the home team for this game; therefore, all ASB stickers and Family passes will be honored at this game. Wanding will be enforced for all fans at the entrance gate.



*         Attention Parents of Advanced Placement (AP) Students:  All AP exams are now available for purchase.  The cost of each AP exam offered through College Board is $94.  You may purchase the exams either in the finance office on campus OR on the EDHS web-store online.  All test purchases must be made no later than November 5th, 2019.  No deposit is required, but exams must be paid in full for El Diamante to order your exam from collegeboard.  (If your student currently qualifies for free OR reduced lunch they can inquire about a reduced test price with Mrs. Reynolds in the student services office).  Any student who does not purchase their exams IN FULL by November 5th will not have an exam ordered due to ordering deadlines and procedures implemented by the Collegeboard.


*         The XL Program will be hosting a College Application workshop on November 7th from 3:30 PM - 4:30 PM in Computer Lab 62. This is a great opportunity to get one on one help to finish up your college applications in time for November 30th!


*         Applications are being accepted for students seeking a Congressional Nomination to attend a United States Service Academy. For graduating seniors, the Academy Nomination Application must be mailed or hand delivered to Congressman Nunes' Visalia Office by Friday, November 15th, 2019. Please see the attached flyer for more information.



*         Harvest Dance pictures are in. You can pick up in the Finance Office before school, at lunch and afterschool.


*         The EDHS PTSA is looking for your used Miner Gear.  If you have Miner shirts, shorts, sweats, etc that are too small/large or just sitting in your closet, please consider donating them to the PTSA.  We will resell them at our meetings, and proceeds will go toward Holiday Care Packages and student scholarships.  You can drop them off in the office, in a bag labeled "PTSA."


*         Pink slips will now be processed in the Student Services office. If you have taken and passed Driver's Ed or College Careers with a C or better, stop by Student Services to fill out and turn in a pink slip request. After submitting a request, the pink slip will be ready for pick up in 1-2 school days. Please see Ms. DeRoma in Student Services if you have any questions.



*         As a reminder, Work Permits are only issued during the school year at the school site. Work permits are not available during school breaks (Thanksgiving, winter, and spring) or school holidays. You may request a work permit during summer break at the District Office. Please allow at least 24 hours for the work permit to be processed.


*         Attention Students! There will be no hanging out in the parking lot before school, during lunch, or after school. If you are on school grounds, you must come on to campus.


*         Attention students! If you use the skateboard lockers that are located next to the band room, please remember to take your lock off when you take your skateboard home for the day. You cannot keep your lock on to "reserve" a spot.


*         The XL Program is up and running! This year's program offerings include, AM & PM Tutoring, Jiu Jitsu, Drama Production, Africana Studies, Computer Programming, and much, much more. As always, snack is free and available to all El Diamante students. Stop by Computer Lab 62 for more information.


SENIOR NOTES



*         College Application Deadlines & Help: Below are some of the most common application deadlines for this fall college application season. Mr. Stahl will be available for college application help from Oct 2 Nov 22 every WED and FRI in computer lab 61 during homeroom.  Come by the Student Services Office and sign up to receive a Homeroom Pass to attend. REMINDER THAT ALL CSU/UC APPLICATIONS ARE DUE ON NOVEMBER 30TH. The last day to get help from Mr. Stahl is NOVEMBER 22, before we go on break.


*         Seniors:  Grad Nite is Friday, May 15, 2020. The destination will be Disneyland and CA Adventure Park. The cost for Grad Nite is $245, CASH ONLY; tickets will go on sale at 7:30 a.m. on Monday, 3/2/20 - this is the ONLY day you can purchase tickets. The ticket is non-refundable! You will need to line up to purchase your tickets with the people you want to be on the same bus with.  There will be NO BUS CHANGES after you purchase your ticket.  Students are not permitted on campus until 7:00 a.m. - "camping out" is not allowed.  In order to purchase your tickets to Grad Nite, you MUST be on track to graduate, be on track with a 94% attendance rate the week prior to Grad Nite and make sure to clear all fines through the Finance office and the Library.  You will not be admitted to purchase tickets for Grad Nite without a completed Grad Nite Permission packet which includes your parent signatures and signatures from the library and finance office.  NO EXCEPTIONS.  Copies of the permission packet will be provide to seniors at the Senior Meeting in February. Afterwards, they will also be available on the EDHS website and in the Student Services Office.
