VUSD Announces Grab-n-Go Meals Services

STUDENT NOTES

TODAY:

*         This is a reminder for all EDHS students to return textbooks for semester classes such as, Economics and Health, and all English novels checked out during first semester. Books can be returned at the front office gate from 8 AM to 4 PM through TODAY, December 18th. There will be a bin placed out by the front office gate to place the books in. It is important to return first semester books by the end of finals so we can check them out to second semester students in January 2021. Thank you for your help, El Diamante Library staff.

*         Miner Foundation Auction Time to do some last-minute shopping and help support EDHS. The Miner Foundation is doing a virtual auction with the various items that were donated for the event we were never able to hold this past year. The auction runs through TODAY, 12/18 at 6 PM. Please look through the various categories to see all 40+ items, as the homepage only shows the first 20 or so. The proceeds will go towards supporting the teams and clubs that donated the items, as well as to provide scholarships for some of our deserving seniors and help with campus improvement projects. Don't miss out on these great items, along with a chance to help support our amazing kids. The website is http://www.edhsminerfoundation.com.

*         The Third Annual Asian Family Engagement Virtual Conference "Journey to Success" will be held TODAY, December 18th, 2020 from 9 AM - 2:30 PM. It will be held as a virtual event. This virtual conference is designed for middle school, high school, community college students and their parents. Two tracks will be offered: one for parents and one for students. Anyone who would like to learn about higher education, leadership, civic engagement, arts and culture, and careers should attend. Previous Announcements:

*         The El Diamante High Blood Drive is on Monday, December 28th, 2020 from 9AM-6PM. It will take place at the Visalia Donor Center located at 2245 W. Caldwell Ave in Visalia. For more information, see the flyer attached or visit donateblood.org. Here are 5 reasons why you should give blood over the Winter Break:

     *   There's a blood shortage. This 2020 holiday season, the American Red Cross is facing a severe blood shortage. Blood donations are currently being distributed faster than they are coming in, even though patients and their families are counting on blood to save their lives in the event of a medical emergency.
     *   It's become a yearly tradition. El Diamante has always participated in a blood drive. Start one of your own holiday traditions and give back.
     *   It's what Christmas and the holiday season is all about. Helping others, giving gifts. Give the gift of life when you donate blood.
     *   It's a great excuse to once again prove we are the best compared to MW, RHS, and GW.
     *   You get a free shirt and movie pass for donating! 'Nuff said!

*         Dream It Be It Free Virtual Conference! Soroptimist's Dream It, Be It: Career support for girls helps girls grows. We provide girls access to professional role models, career education and the resources to live your dreams. *         COS Concurrent Enrollment Spring 2021 registration is now open and will be open through January 10th, 2021. If you plan on enrolling into a COS class concurrently this Spring 2021, you MUST fill out proper paperwork and have your Learning Director approve your class. Please see the attached Spring Registration Calendar and contact you Learning Director if you have any questions!

*         PSAT Testing Date has been moved to January 26th, 2021. More information to come as we receive updates from College Board. Contact Mr. Elms at 735-3511 if you have any questions.

*         ASVAB Test: Due to the pandemic and the campus being closed, we are NOT able to administer the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) test on site. In order to still take the ASVAB test at the Visalia office location, you MUST:

     *   Be 17 years old and have parent permission

*         Attention Seniors! The California Student Aid Commission is excited to announce their first Statewide Cash for College Webinars! The webinars will provide information to help students and families complete the FAFSA/CADAA. The webinars are FREE and open to all students and families applying for financial aid. SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION

SPORTS

*         Athletics continue to be suspended until further notice.

*         Attention Juniors and Seniors who are thinking of playing sports in College. You MUST register with the NCAA Eligibility Center to be eligible to participate. Students must be enrolled in a certain number of academic courses in High School to qualify at the college level. Qualifications vary based on the division in which your College participates in athletics. Speak with your Learning Director if you have any questions or concerns.

PARENT NOTES

*         El Diamante School Marquee messages are available to purchase for $50 a week. Say Happy Birthday or Congratulations to your student. Call the office at 735-3501 if interested.

*         Congratulate your Senior with a Yearbook AD! Send a message to your graduating Senior that will last forever. Get them an ad in the Senior section of the Yearbook. This year, because of Distance Learning, Senior ads will be created and paid for on jostens.com. Just go to the website, search El Diamante, and follow the instructions. Also, please fill out the attached form and send a picture to Mr. Abbott (mabbott at vusd.org<mailto:mabbott at vusd.org>) so the yearbook team knows who is planning on doing a Senior ad.
