·         There will be a Senior Homeroom Meeting TODAY, February 5th in the GYM. Please report to your homeroom class before going to the gym.



New Announcements:



·         The El Diamante Chess team took first place at a tournament in Fresno last Saturday and brought home a trophy. We had 8 competitors and they all did a great job representing EL D. Top players were Samuel Garland and Richard Teo who had 3 wins followed by Josiah Quintana, Calvin Sarver, and Brandon Villarreal who had 2 wins. Congratulations team, keep up the hard work!!



·         SENIORS: Grad Nite ticket sales will be here before you know it. Come to the library and check your library/textbook account NOW to verify you are clear. Any student with an outstanding fine will not be able to purchase a ticket for Grad Nite. Turn in those overdue library books, English novels and semester textbooks (Econ & Civics) ASAP.





Old Announcements:



·         CSF applications for this semester are now available in Rooms 608, 609, and 617. They are due tomorrow, February 6th. Reminder that you must reapply for membership EACH semester. Questions? See Mrs. Perez in Room 608.



·         The Navy recruiter will be on campus next Wednesday, February 12th during lunch in the quad.



·         Visalia Unified School District is hosting a series of community presentations called, "Vaping: Fact vs. Fiction". Parents and all community members are welcome. Childcare will be provided. Please join us so you can be better prepared to talk with your children and teens about the dangers of vaping. Our next presentation date is Thursday, February 13th at Goshen Elementary from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM.



·         FOR THE LOVE OF ART! - Are you or do you know a high school student artist looking to make $ on their art?  Visalia Education Foundation (VEF) can students sell their art...it's easy and fun!  Check out VEF's website for information on their upcoming art show and sale, For the Love of Art at http://www.visaliaedfoundation.org/. The deadline for submission is Thursday, February 27th, but it's not too early to start thinking about what you'll create!



·         Beanies will be allowed during the colder months until Friday, February 28th, 2020 and must be of a solid color or contain the school logo.  All approved headgear must not cover the face and shall be worn as intended to provide protection outdoors only and may not be worn indoors.  The school or district is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged headgear.


·         Miner Foundation DIGGING FOR DIAMONDS Spring Dinner & Auction featuring live music by RUN 4 COVER - Saturday, March 14th, 2020 at 5:30 pm - at the Visalia Elks Lodge.  Proceeds of your donations go directly to funding scholarships, campus wide improvements, and club or team support.  Donate an item and earn 50% back of donation sales proceeds for your club or team and 20% back on each ticket your club or team sells! ·         El Diamante School Marquee messages available to purchase for $50 a week.  Say Happy Birthday or Congratulations to your student.  See the office for details.


SENIOR NOTES


·         California Aeronautical University is going to be visiting El Diamante High School on Tuesday, February 18th during homeroom in the Library. Click here<https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1z-zxvcbpMSOunSHlnZzCH2qDK2FERL1PiLBMaesGKb0/edit> to sign-up.


·         The El Diamante PTSA scholarship is available in the Student Services office. It is due Tuesday, March 31st.  If you are not yet a member of PTSA, you can easily sign up using this link: https://jointotem.com/ca/visalia/el-diamante-high-school-ptsa.



·         Seniors: Grad Nite is Friday, May 15th, 2020. The destination will be Disneyland and CA Adventures Park. The cost for Grad Nite is $245, CASH ONLY; tickets will go on sale at 7:30 Am on Monday, March 9th, 2020 - this is the ONLY day you can purchase tickets. The ticket is non-refundable! You will need to line up to purchase your tickets with the people you want to be on the same bus with.  There will be NO BUS CHANGES after you purchase your ticket.  Students are not permitted on campus until 7:00 AM - "camping out" is not allowed.  In order to purchase your tickets to Grad Nite, you MUST be on track to graduate, be on track with a 94% attendance rate the week prior to Grad Nite and make sure to clear all fines through the Finance office and the Library.  You will not be admitted to purchase tickets for Grad Nite without a completed Grad Nite Permission packet which includes your parent signatures and signatures from the library and finance office.  NO EXCEPTIONS.  Copies of the permission packet will be provide to seniors at the Senior Meeting in February. Afterwards, they will also be available on the EDHS website and in the Student Services Office.
