STUDENT NOTES

TODAY:

*         Ready to save a life? The El Diamante High School blood drive is TODAY, December 2nd at the Visalia Donor center on Caldwell. They will have a special T-shirt and other giveaways for parents and students who donate. As a student donor you need to be at least 16 years of age with parent permission, 110 lbs., and in good health. You will need an ID with their school number on the ID or a California ID or drivers license. Each pint of blood we collect can help save up to three lives and will touch the lives of so many more. What a great way to pay it forward, make an impact on people in our community, and show those patients in need of blood just how much we can do.

*         Winter Percussion auditions are TODAY, December 2nd and December 6th from 5:30-9:00 PM. If you are interested in joining winter percussion, please see Ms. Pallas in the band room for audition materials and a contract and calendar.

*         Attention Students! Military Recruiters are back on campus during lunch. The Navy will be on campus on Mondays, the Army will be on campus on Wednesdays and the Marines will be on campus on Thursdays to answer any questions you may have.

*         Attention Students: Math Peer Tutoring Sessions are available every Tuesday-Thursday. Come to the Career Center before the homeroom bell rings. Peer tutors can support you to achieve your math goals!

*         We now have weightlifting available in the after-school XL Program. We will be weightlifting from 3:30-4:30 PM after school on Tuesday's and Thursday's. If you would like to learn how to weightlift, or would like to utilize our equipment in the weight room, please join Mrs. Panuco (Miss Emerson) after school on the designated days!

NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS:

*         Hello! We wanted to make you aware that this Saturday, December 4th there will be Saturday Academy on the El D campus from 8:15 AM-12:30 PM. You can makeup attendance and improve your grades by catching up on missing assignments. Please email Mr. Abbott (mabbott at vusd.org<mailto:mabbott at vusd.org>) if you are planning to attend. But if you just decide to show up without sending an email then that's great too. There will be a sign on the front gate telling you which classroom to go to. Please let Mr. Abbott know if you have any questions or concerns. Hope to see you there!

*         Gay Straight Alliance has a meeting Tuesday at lunch in room 364. We have a guest speaker from Visalia's The Source here to introduce themselves.

*         FREE COVID-19 TESTING FOR VUSD STUDENTS. Testing available to VUSD students. Cottages open Monday-Thursday from 9:30 AM - 6:00 PM and Fridays from 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM. Testing available: PCR Tests. Testing also open to parent/community members to volunteer at VUSD campuses. *         NO SCHOOL 12/20/21-1/7/22 due to Winter Break. School will resume on Monday, January 10th.

*         Attention Students: Please remember to bring your fully charged Chromebook to school with you every day.

*         Visalia Unified School District's After-hours Academic Assistance (AAA) will provide after-hours academic support through a virtual platform. This program is available to all VUSD students grades K-12 at no charge, four evenings a week. Homework assistance will be led by certificated VUSD teachers in all grades and mostly all subjects. The AAA program helps students with homework from content previously covered in class. *         Attention Softball Players: Practices will be every Tuesday and Thursday. If you have any questions, email Coach Rapozo at srapozo at vusd.org<mailto:srapozo at vusd.org>.

*         Attention all baseball players! Fall ball is continuing up through December. We are practicing Wednesday and Thursday at 3:30. This is for all levels including Frosh, JV, and Varsity. If you're not playing a Winter Sport, it's important you come out in order to get your arm in shape for the season. *         For all athletes who would like to participate in Track & Field this year we are having voluntary workouts for those who want to get in shape and ahead early. If you have any questions contact Coach Holley at 559-805-1332. Practice will be every Tuesday and Thursday from 4:00-5:00 PM. Coach Holley will be on campus every Thursday at Lunch in the Dance Room if you have questions or want to chat. Our current practice schedule will be as follows:
