STUDENT NOTES

TODAY:

*         Anyone interested in playing football next year please come to an important informational meeting TODAY, December 14th at Lunch in the GYM.

*         Boys Tennis: Tryouts for Boys Varsity Tennis will be December 14th & 16th starting at 3:30 PM. To tryout for varsity you need at least one year on the school team or significant tennis experience outside of school. Team practice will start January 10th @ 3:30 PM. See Coach Harding in room 914 or email him jharding at vusd.us<mailto:jharding at vusd.us> with questions.

*         We now have weightlifting available in the after-school XL Program. We will be weightlifting from 3:30-4:30 PM after school on Tuesday's and Thursday's. If you would like to learn how to weightlift, or would like to utilize our equipment in the weight room, please join Mrs. Panuco (Miss Emerson) after school on the designated days!

NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS:

*         Attention Seniors: Fresno Pacific University will be having an in-person Dreamer's Preview Day Thursday, January 27th from 5:30-7:30 PM at 1717 S. Chestnut Ave in Fresno, CA. This event will be led in Spanish with English translation available. *         FINAL EXAMS will take place tomorrow, Wednesday, 12/15 - Friday, 12/17. The bell schedule is below.

*         FREE COVID-19 TESTING FOR VUSD STUDENTS. Testing available to VUSD students. Cottages open Monday-Thursday from 9:30 AM - 6:00 PM and Fridays from 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM. Testing available: PCR Tests. Testing also open to parent/community members to volunteer at VUSD campuses. *         Attention Students! Military Recruiters are back on campus during lunch to answer any questions you may have. Please see the schedule below:

*         NO SCHOOL 12/20/21-1/7/22 due to Winter Break. School will resume on Monday, January 10th.

*         Attention Students: Please remember to bring your fully charged Chromebook to school with you every day.

*         Visalia Unified School District's After-hours Academic Assistance (AAA) will provide after-hours academic support through a virtual platform. This program is available to all VUSD students grades K-12 at no charge, four evenings a week. Homework assistance will be led by certificated VUSD teachers in all grades and mostly all subjects. The AAA program helps students with homework from content previously covered in class. You must have a 2.0 GPA to have a Work Permit. Please allow 1-3 school days for processing. *         Any boys interested in trying out for the golf team this spring please stop by room 368 to sign up and get information about try-outs. You must sign up to try-out. This includes those who played last season. Thanks, Mr. Clyburne.

*         Attention all baseball players! Fall ball is continuing up through December. We are practicing Wednesday and Thursday at 3:30. This is for all levels including Frosh, JV, and Varsity. If you're not playing a Winter Sport, it's important you come out in order to get your arm in shape for the season. *         For all athletes who would like to participate in Track & Field this year we are having voluntary workouts for those who want to get in shape and ahead early. If you have any questions contact Coach Holley at 559-805-1332. Practice will be every Tuesday and Thursday from 4:00-5:00 PM. Coach Holley will be on campus every Thursday at Lunch in the Dance Room if you have questions or want to chat. Our current practice schedule will be as follows:

     *   Week 1: 11/2 & 11/4
     *   Week 2: 11/9 & 11/11
     *   Week 3: 11/16 & 11/18
     *   Off week of 11/23
     *   Week 4: 11/30 & 12/2
