NO SCHOOL 12/20/21-1/7/22 due to Winter Break. School will resume on Monday, January 10th.

OLD ANNOUNCEMENTS:

*         California Lions Clubs are again sponsoring a Student Speaker Contest in February with cash awards and scholarships of up to $10,000. It is open to all students in grades 9-12. The topic is "HOW CAN KINDNESS REUNITE OUR COUNTRY?" This is a wonderful public speaking opportunity to earn money toward higher education by presenting a 10-minute speech at one of the Lions Clubs in Visalia. Amounts of awards begin at $100 and increase up to $10,000. If you are interested or would like to know more, see Mrs. Hatcher in Room 610 when you return from break. She has more information and interest letters that need to be returned by Monday, January 31st in order for you to be contacted by a Visalia Lions Club member. This is a wonderful and exciting opportunity given throughout the state of California. We encourage all students to consider participating in this annual event as they move forward with their education.

*         Attention Students: Please remember to bring your fully charged Chromebook to school with you when you return on January 10th, 2022.

*         Visalia Unified School District's After-hours Academic Assistance (AAA) will provide after-hours academic support through a virtual platform. This program is available to all VUSD students grades K-12 at no charge, four evenings a week. Homework assistance will be led by certificated VUSD teachers in all grades and mostly all subjects. The AAA program helps students with homework from content previously covered in class. *         Students if you need a DMV Pink Slip, click here<https://protect-us.mimecast.com/s/yUT3CG6VOJUr1PJSpCOZf?domain=vusd.org> to put in a Pink Slip Request. You MUST have taken and passed with a C or better one of the following courses: Success 101, College/Careers, or Drivers Ed. Please allow 1-3 school days for processing once you submit a request. You will be notified via email when it is ready for pick-up in the Student Services Office. Pink Slip Requests will start being processed when we return on January 10th, 2022.

*         Work Permits are processed in the El Diamante Student Services Office. Once the student, parent and employer have filled out and signed the work permit application; please turn the completed work permit in to Ms. Reynolds<mailto:treynolds at vusd.org> in Student Services. You must have a 2.0 GPA to have a Work Permit. Please allow 1-3 school days for processing. *         Attention Seniors: Fresno Pacific University will be having an in-person Dreamer's Preview Day Thursday, January 27th from 5:30-7:30 PM at 1717 S. Chestnut Ave in Fresno, CA. This event will be led in Spanish with English translation available. *         For all athletes who would like to participate in Track & Field this year we are having voluntary workouts for those who want to get in shape and ahead early. If you have any questions contact Coach Holley at 559-805-1332. Practice will be every Tuesday and Thursday from 4:00-5:00 PM. Coach Holley will be on campus every Thursday at Lunch in the Dance Room if you have questions or want to chat. Our current practice schedule will be as follows:

     *   Week 1: 11/2 & 11/4
     *   Week 2: 11/9 & 11/11
     *   Week 3: 11/16 & 11/18
     *   Off week of 11/23
     *   Week 4: 11/30 & 12/2
     *   Week 5: 12/7 & 12/9
     *   Week 6: 12/14 & 12/16
     *   Off 12/28-1/11
