* Kindness Week 2021 February 9th-12th. This year our theme is "Kindness Begins with Me." There will be daily challenges, dress up days and activities that focus on kindness for self and others. * Attention Class of 2021! The El Diamante Local Scholarship Application deadline is TODAY, February 12th, 2021 at 4:00 PM. * We will be hosting activities during the mid-day break (lunch) on Wednesdays and Fridays starting at 10:30 AM. On Wednesdays, you can play Among Us. Fridays will have a variety of activities that will change each week. You can register for each day using the link below and a link will be emailed to you after 10 AM. New Announcements:
* On Wednesday, El Diamante cross country traveled to Hanford for our first race. Both of our teams had great turn outs and hard races. Starting out with our girls. Our varsity girls led by Angie Cavazos won their race with a perfect score of 15. Our first to our 5th girls all came in within 40 seconds. Our boys led by freshman Beckham Ybarra also won with another perfect score of 15 points. We need to keep pushing and keep up our hard work. For next week's race!
* Attention Seniors! Miner Foundation Scholarship applications are now available. Miner Foundation will be giving out 18 - $500 scholarships and the $1,000 Mike Waters Scholarship. * Hello El D Students! This is a message from El D Yearbook. We would love to get any pictures you have (or want to take) that show you in sports/clubs/organizations to include in the Yearbook. Please click on the link below and open the Google doc. Then find your sport or club or organization and click on the link. * Attention all EDHS students: The 84th Annual Lions Club Speaker Contest is now open. The 2021 topic is "Distance and Online Learning: Pros and Cons." The contest is open to students who reside in California, including foreign exchange students, grades 9-12 of any high school or junior high school, charter school, private school, home school or independent study. Interest forms are due no later than Wednesday, February 17th, 2021. The webinars will provide information to help students and families complete the FAFSA/CADAA. The webinars are FREE and open to all students and families applying for financial aid. The live seminars will cover: 411 for the student athlete, how to find money for college, how to start a business, and why to attend an HBCU. There will be chances to win scholarships, cash & prizes. * Attention Seniors: UC Irvine's Hmong Student Association would like to invite you to their 8th annual high school outreach program, Hmong inspired to gain higher education and recruitment. The program will be held virtually through Zoom and will be 2 days: Saturday, April 3rd, 2021 and Sunday, April 4th, 2021. Everybody is highly encouraged to apply. * Attention Juniors and Seniors who are thinking of playing sports in College. You MUST register with the NCAA Eligibility Center to be eligible to participate. Students must be enrolled in a certain number of academic courses in High School to qualify at the college level. Qualifications vary based on the division in which your College participates in athletics. Speak with your Learning Director if you have any questions or concerns.
PARENT NOTES
* Parents, students, teachers, staff: Monday, February 15th at 7 PM is our next PTSA Association meeting. Principal Hohne will give an update as well as ASB and class reps. It's a great way to stay involved and updated on what is going on at EDHS. Zoom link will be sent to PTSA members a few days before.
