New Announcements:

*         Attention Seniors: COS Financial Aid will be hosting FAFSA/Dream Act support sessions via Zoom on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10 AM - 3 PM. These sessions will begin January 26, 2021 and continue through March 2, 2021. Get help with applications and ask questions about the financial aid process. *         The Yearbook theme for the week is "New Year's Resolutions." Here is the link to this week's Google Form where students can submit photos and answer interview questions: https://forms.gle/1u1NZZoAGV7qBrrB7. Students can fill out the Google Form on Chromebooks or phones. Looking forward to seeing everyone's photos and hearing how everyone is doing!

*         Attention EDHS students: For the remaining Monday holidays (1/18, 2/8, 2/15, 4/5, 5/31), we will resume the week as follows to provide more instructional time. Please note that instruction takes place on these Wednesdays:

     *   Monday - Holiday
     *   Tuesday - Periods 0, 1, 3, & 5
     *   Wednesday - Periods 0 Flex, 2, 4, & 6
     *   Thursday - Periods 1, 3, & 5
     *   Friday - Periods 0, 2, 4, & 6

*         XL El Diamante Program will be starting back up for the Spring 2021 School Year. XL's start date will be Tuesday, January 19th, 2021. If you are wanting to participate in any XL Enrichment or need help with Tutoring you can click on the link https://sites.google.com/view/eld-xl/ and you will be directed to our XL website. You will see all our updated Schedules and Zoom tabs for XL Enrichment/Tutoring and TBA Workshops. Also, if you would like to receive a full week of snack you are more the welcome to come down to 505 N. Court Visalia every Wednesday from 11:30 PM-12:30 PM. Make sure to bring your school ID for proof of identification. *         ASVAB Test: Due to the pandemic and the campus being closed, we are NOT able to administer the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) test on site. In order to still take the ASVAB test at the Visalia office location, you MUST:

*         Fresno State will host the 48th Annual Chicanx Youth Conference on Friday, January 29th from 1-3:15PM and Saturday, January 30th from 10AM-12:15PM for 7th-12th graders. *         College T-shirt Tuesday! Support the College Application season by wearing a college T-shirt to your Zoom classes every Tuesday until January 2021!

*         Attention Seniors: There will be a Black College Expo virtual college fair on Friday, February 19th from 3-7PM and Saturday, February 20th from 12-3PM. Some incentives for attending this college fair are: get accepted to college on the spot, scholarships on the spot, and application fees waived. The live seminars will cover: 411 for the student athlete, how to find money for college, how to start a business, and why to attend an HBCU. There will be chances to win scholarships, cash & prizes. *         Attention Seniors! The California Student Aid Commission is excited to announce their first Statewide Cash for College Webinars! The webinars will provide information to help students and families complete the FAFSA/CADAA. The webinars are FREE and open to all students and families applying for financial aid. They will have volunteers answering questions throughout the session via chat box (general questions only). SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION

SPORTS

*         Athletics continue to be suspended until further notice.

*         Attention Juniors and Seniors who are thinking of playing sports in College. You MUST register with the NCAA Eligibility Center to be eligible to participate. Students must be enrolled in a certain number of academic courses in High School to qualify at the college level. Qualifications vary based on the division in which your College participates in athletics. Speak with your Learning Director if you have any questions or concerns.

PARENT NOTES

*         El Diamante School Marquee messages are available to purchase for $50 a week. Say Happy Birthday or Congratulations to your student. Call the office at 735-3501 if interested.

*         Congratulate your Senior with a Yearbook AD! Send a message to your graduating Senior that will last forever. Get them an ad in the Senior section of the Yearbook. This year, because of Distance Learning, Senior ads will be created and paid for on jostens.com. Just go to the website, search El Diamante, and follow the instructions. Also, please fill out the attached form and send a picture to Mr. Abbott (mabbott at vusd.org<mailto:mabbott at vusd.org>) so the yearbook team knows who is planning on doing a Senior ad.
