TODAY:

*         Gay Straight Alliance meets TODAY at lunch in Room 364!

*         Seniors! The deadline to submit your Yearbook pose to Essence is TODAY, September 14th. After that deadline, a Yearbook pose will be chosen for you. No exceptions.

*         All AVID Tutors are required to attend Module 9 of AVID Tutor Training one day during homeroom. Those tutoring for AVID 1, 2, 3, or 4, will attend on Thursday, September 16th. All other tutors can attend either Tuesday, September 14th or Wednesday, September 15th. Please report to Room 605 at the beginning of homeroom.

*         We now have weightlifting available in the after-school XL Program. We will be weightlifting from 3:30-4:30 PM after school on Tuesday's and Thursday's. If you would like to learn how to weightlift, or would like to utilize our equipment in the weight room, please join Mrs. Panuco (Miss Emerson) after school on the designated days!

*         Effective Immediately! REFUNDS will NO LONGER be provided for the vending machines. Use at your own risk.

*         Boys soccer meeting Wednesday, September 15th during lunch in room 312. We will discuss preseason, tryouts and what paperwork needs to be completed to participate.

*         Junior/Senior Virtual Parent Night will take place on Thursday, September 23rd via Zoom at 6 PM. *         UCLA's annual Fall Open House will be virtual this year and will take place from Saturday, September 25th through Thursday, September 30th. Students and their families will have an opportunity to gain insight about the admission process, learn more about the incredible academic opportunities available to them, participate in student panels, virtually tour campus and experience Bruin pride firsthand. *         Attention Parents of Advanced Placement (AP) Students:  All AP exams are now available for purchase. The cost of each AP exam offered through college-board is $96. You may purchase the exams either in the finance office on campus OR on the EDHS web-store online<https://webstores.activenetwork.com/school-software/el_diamante_high_sch/>. All test purchases must be made no later than Friday, October 15th, 2021. No deposit is required, but exams must be paid in full for El Diamante to order your exam from CollegeBoard. (If your student currently qualifies for free OR reduced lunch they can inquire about a reduced test price with Ms. Reynolds<mailto:treynolds at vusd.org> in the Student Services Office). Any student who does not purchase their exams IN FULL by October 15th will not have an exam ordered due to ordering deadlines and procedures implemented by the CollegeBoard. VUSD Fee Waiver: there is a one-time fee waiver provided by VUSD for one exam during the 4 years of high school. If your student chooses to use this for an exam this year they will need to submit the VUSD One Time Waiver Form. *         Attention Juniors & Seniors! #LEAD is a Leadership and College/Career Readiness program offered to high school Juniors and Seniors. Members attend biweekly sessions facilitated by CSET staff to learn about Time Management, Mental Health, Healthy Relationships, Study Habits, Financial Literacy and more! Members are also exposed to universities with two field trips: one to a CSU and the second to a UC. Students that successfully complete the program have the opportunity to earn paid summer work training to gain job training skills aligned with their future career interests. *         Attention Seniors! Congressman Nunes has scheduled his annual academy night for Tuesday, October 12th in Clovis, CA at 5 PM. Please RSVP by email before Friday, October 8th. There are four U.S. Service Academies that require a congressional nomination:

     *   United States Air Force Academy

     *   United States Military Academy (West Point)
     *   United States Naval Academy

OLD ANNOUNCEMENTS:

*         Yearbook Announcement: If you ordered a Yearbook last year and did not receive it, please stop by Mr. Abbott's room 603. We still have last year's Yearbooks on sale for $95 in room 603.

*         The 22nd Annual U-CAN HBCU Recruitment Fair will take place Saturday, September 18th, 2021 from 10AM-1:30PM. This will take place at Buchannan High School in the GYM. *         Attention 9th Grade Students! EDHS Picture Day is scheduled for Wednesday, September 29th. Picture packets are available in the Discipline Office. Picture make-ups will also take place on this day.

*         CAL GRANT OPT OUT: With the implementation of Assembly Bill 2160, California public high schools are required to submit a Cal Grant high school Grade Point Average (GPA) for all graduating Seniors, unless the student or parent has opted out of the submission process. If you do not want El Diamante High School to report a GPA, please pick up the Opt Out Form in the Student Services office before October 1st.

*         Students if you need a DMV Pink Slip, click here<https://www.vusd.org/Page/18235> to put in a Pink Slip Request. Please allow 1-3 school days for processing. You will be notified via email when it is ready for pick-up.

*         Work Permits are processed in the El Diamante Student Services Office. Once the student, parent and employer have filled out the application, please turn the completed work permit in to Ms. Reynolds<mailto:treynolds at vusd.org> in Student Services. SENIOR NOTES

*         Hello Seniors! If you would like to use your own photo for your Senior Yearbook picture, please email the photo and your full name to mabbott at vusd.org<mailto:mabbott at vusd.org>. The photo needs to be from your shoulders on up and everything in the picture needs to be school appropriate. THE DEADLINE TO SUBMIT YOUR OWN PHOTO IS TOMORROW, SEPTEMBER 15TH. We need them by this deadline because we need time to format them correctly for the yearbook. If you have any questions, please visit room 603 or email Mr. Abbott, our Yearbook teacher, at mabbott at vusd.org<mailto:mabbott at vusd.org>.

*         COS Senior Informational Meeting - There will be a COS Informational meeting TOMORROW, September 15th during homeroom via Zoom. All seniors will Zoom in from class with their Homeroom Teacher. This is a great way for all seniors to hear about what College of the Sequoia has to offer all students.
