STUDENT NOTES

TODAY:

*         We now have weightlifting available in the after-school XL Program. We will be weightlifting from 3:30-4:30 PM after school on Tuesday's and Thursday's. If you would like to learn how to weightlift, or would like to utilize our equipment in the weight room, please join Mrs. Panuco (Miss Emerson) after school on the designated days!

NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS:

*         Hey Seniors! Yearbook needs photos of Senior Sunrise for the Yearbook. Here's a link to a Google Form where you can upload pictures from your phone or computer: https://forms.gle/RUxjCaGuAMDcj2wh8. The more pictures we can get, the better! The deadline to submit pictures is Friday, October 15th.

*         Girls Soccer will begin conditioning next Tuesday (Oct 5), Wednesday (Oct 6) and Thursday (Oct 7) at 3:30 PM after school. Please bring tennis shoes and meet out on the track. Any questions contact Coach Kurz in the girls locker room.

Whether you want to be the main host, entertainment host, or sports host, stop by room 902 for more information.

*         Yearbook Announcement: If you ordered a Yearbook last year and did not receive it, please stop by Mr. Abbott's room 603. We still have last year's Yearbooks on sale for $95 in room 603.

*         CAL GRANT OPT OUT: With the implementation of Assembly Bill 2160, California public high schools are required to submit a Cal Grant high school Grade Point Average (GPA) for all graduating Seniors, unless the student or parent has opted out of the submission process. If you do not want El Diamante High School to report a GPA, please pick up the Opt Out Form in the Student Services office before October 1st.

*         Effective Immediately! REFUNDS will NO LONGER be provided for the vending machines. Use at your own risk.

*         Students if you need a DMV Pink Slip, click here<https://www.vusd.org/Page/18235> to put in a Pink Slip Request. Please allow 1-3 school days for processing. You will be notified via email when it is ready for pick-up.

*         Work Permits are processed in the El Diamante Student Services Office. Once the student, parent and employer have filled out the application, please turn the completed work permit in to Ms. Reynolds<mailto:treynolds at vusd.org> in Student Services. SENIOR NOTES

*         UCLA's annual Fall Open House will be virtual this year and will take place from Saturday, September 25th through Thursday, September 30th. Students and their families will have an opportunity to gain insight about the admission process, learn more about the incredible academic opportunities available to them, participate in student panels, virtually tour campus and experience Bruin pride firsthand. *         CVC will be hosting a Christian College Fair. Attend Locally at CVC on Thursday, October 7th from 6-8 PM and then Virtually from Monday, November 1st through Friday, November 19th. *         Hello Seniors!  Quick reminder from Yearbook.  If you are taking your pictures through Essence, then you don't need to worry about any deadline to submit Senior pictures.  We have an agreement with Essence that any Senior pictures they take will be part of the Yearbook. If you are taking your own pictures, then we are extending the deadline to Friday, October 1st.  We only ask you try to turn them in sooner rather than later. If you would like to use your own photo for your Senior Yearbook picture, please email the photo and your full name to mabbott at vusd.org<mailto:mabbott at vusd.org>. The photo needs to be from your shoulders on up and everything in the picture needs to be school appropriate. They will be talking about options after high school - including employment, basic skills/professional certificates, and/or a college degree/certificate. This Virtual Transition Night is for high school Seniors who may need extra support in college and their families. *         Attention Parents of Advanced Placement (AP) Students:  All AP exams are now available for purchase. The cost of each AP exam offered through college-board is $96. You may purchase the exams either in the finance office on campus OR on the EDHS web-store online<https://webstores.activenetwork.com/school-software/el_diamante_high_sch/>. All test purchases must be made no later than Friday, October 15th, 2021. No deposit is required, but exams must be paid in full for El Diamante to order your exam from CollegeBoard. (If your student currently qualifies for free OR reduced lunch they can inquire about a reduced test price with Ms. Reynolds<mailto:treynolds at vusd.org> in the Student Services Office). Any student who does not purchase their exams IN FULL by October 15th will not have an exam ordered due to ordering deadlines and procedures implemented by the CollegeBoard. VUSD Fee Waiver: there is a one-time fee waiver provided by VUSD for one exam during the 4 years of high school. If your student chooses to use this for an exam this year they will need to submit the VUSD One Time Waiver Form.
