·         Attention Miners: XL conditioning for Football will take place every week Monday-Thursday at the green turf by the weight room.

·         We now have weightlifting available in the after-school XL Program. We will be weightlifting from 3:30-4:30 PM after school on Tuesday's and Thursday's. If you would like to learn how to weightlift, or would like to utilize our equipment in the weight room, please join Mrs. Panuco (Miss Emerson) after school on the designated days!

OLD ANNOUNCEMENTS:

·         Hello!  We wanted to make you aware that this Saturday, February 5th there will be Saturday Academy on the El D campus from 8:15 AM-12:30 PM.  You can makeup attendance and improve your grades by catching up on missing assignments.  We don't have any specific teachers or classes, but you can bring your Chromebook and have an open classroom to turn in missing work on Schoology or Edgenuity. Please email Mr. Abbott (mabbott at vusd.org<mailto:mabbott at vusd.org>) if you are planning to attend. But, if you just decide to show up without sending an email then that's great too. Also, please email Mr. Abbott before Wednesday morning if you would like to order a free lunch. There will be a sign on the front gate telling you which classroom to go to.           Attention Miners: The Visalia Unified Student Leadership programs are excited to welcome you to the 2021-22 Winter Formal being held at Groppetti Community Stadium at Golden West High School on Saturday, February 12th from 8-11 PM! Come out and enjoy a night of dancing, partying, and hanging out with all of the Visalia Unified community! Masks are recommended, and every student who buys a ticket will be required to provide proof of a negative test from within 72 hours of the dance. Tickets will $15 and you must be cleared in the library and finance. Tickets sales will take place from February 7th-11th and will be before school, lunch and after school in the finance office and room 601.           Attention Students: Walgreens has established an exciting annual arts competition for high school teens in selected US cities - Expressions challenges you to create art that reflects your world and the issues you connect with:  Social Justice, Mental Health, Unity, Equity and more. You can express yourself in video, painting, short stories, poetry -  whatever moves you! The contest begins January 15th and runs through March 31st. Entries are reviewed by judges around the country. There are cash prizes and more for the winners. There is no deadline, but if you want to guarantee a copy of the Yearbook, then you will need to order yours by the end of January. After that, it will be a first come, first serve basis.           FREE COVID-19 TESTING. Testing available to VUSD students, parents & staff. Cottages open Monday-Thursday from 9:30 AM - 6:00 PM (Lunch from 1-2PM) and Fridays from 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM (Lunch from 11AM-12PM). Testing available: PCR Tests. Results take 2-3 business days. Testing also open to parent/community members to volunteer at VUSD campuses. ·         Attention Students: Please remember to bring your fully charged Chromebook to school with you every day.

          Visalia Unified School District's After-hours Academic Assistance (AAA) will provide after-hours academic support through a virtual platform. This program is available to all VUSD students grades K-12 at no charge, four evenings a week. Homework assistance will be led by certificated VUSD teachers in all grades and mostly all subjects. The AAA program helps students with homework from content previously covered in class.           Work Permits are processed in the El Diamante Student Services Office. Once the student, parent and employer have filled out and signed the work permit application; please turn the completed work permit in to Ms. Reynolds<mailto:treynolds at vusd.org> in Student Services. You must have a 2.0 GPA to have a Work Permit. Please allow 1-3 school days for processing.           Attention Seniors! Planning on applying for a scholarship from your El Diamante PTSA this year? You must be a member for at least 30 days in order to qualify for the 2021-22 school year.           Seniors: Grad Nite is Friday, May 13th, 2022. The destination will be Magic Mountain. The cost for Grad Nite is $141, CASH & CREDIT CARD ONLY; tickets will go on sale at 7:30 AM on Monday, March 7th, 2022 - this is the ONLY day you can purchase tickets. The ticket is non-refundable! You will need to line up to purchase your tickets with the people you want to be on the same bus with. There will be NO BUS CHANGES after you purchase your ticket. Students are not permitted on campus to purchase tickets until 7:00 AM - "camping out" is NOT allowed.  In order to purchase your tickets to Grad Nite, you MUST be on track to graduate and eligible for extracurricular activities the week prior to Grad Nite and make sure to clear all fines through the Finance office and the Library. You will NOT be admitted to purchase tickets for Grad Nite without a completed Grad Nite Permission Packet which includes your parent signatures and signatures from the Library and Finance Office. NO EXCEPTIONS. Copies of the Permission Packet will be provided to seniors at the Senior Meeting on February 2nd, 2022.
