STUDENT NOTES

TODAY:

*         Attention Miners: XL conditioning for Football will take place every week Monday-Thursday at the green turf by the weight room.

*         We now have weightlifting available in the after-school XL Program. We will be weightlifting from 3:30-4:30 PM after school on Tuesday's and Thursday's. If you would like to learn how to weightlift, or would like to utilize our equipment in the weight room, please join Mrs. Panuco (Miss Emerson) after school on the designated days!

NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS:

*         Hello! The El Diamante Girls Golf team is looking for players for next year. My name is Mr. Abbott, and I am the Girls Golf coach. If you are interested then please email me (mabbott at vusd.us<mailto:mabbott at vusd.us>) or stop by my room (603) for more information. It's ok if you've never played before! Every year we get brand new players, and we will teach you everything you need to know. We can also provide golf clubs, golf balls, everything you need. There will be an informational meeting at the beginning of lunch on Wednesday, May 11th in room 603.

*         Attention Graduating Seniors: EL DIAMANTE CLASS OF 2022 FINAL TRANSCRIPT REQUESTS must be made using the online Google form<https://protect-us.mimecast.com/s/fW68C0RrkNSG91ljhwdkME?domain=vusd.org> found on the El Diamante website under Student Services/Transcript Request: https://protect-us.mimecast.com/s/fW68C0RrkNSG91ljhwdkME?domain=vusd.org. Once you have committed to the college/university you will be attending Fall 2022, please fill out the request form (only 1 response will be accepted). You must include the COMPLETE MAILING ADDRESS for the college/university you will be attending. Final transcripts will be mailed out the week of June 13, 2022 after 2nd semester grades have posted.

*         Seniors Attending Grad Nite:  As a reminder, you must attend all of your classes on Friday, May 13th in order to be eligible to attend Grad Nite.  The only acceptable excuse would be a Doctor's note to clear the absence. See Mrs. Calvero if you have questions or concerns. *         Each year one senior is chosen as the Miner of the Year, this is Mr. or Ms. Miner. The last spirit week of your high school career will be May 9th-12th. There will be dress up days, lunch time activities, social media events and an Assembly for upperclassmen where the competitors and escorts will show off their talents and school spirit to a panel of judges for the chance to be named Miner of the Year. *         Attention Seniors! Commencement Dress Code: Staff will check for appropriate attire before being allowed into the LJ Williams theatre graduation night. Men: Dress shirt, tie, dress shoes, dress slacks -- no denims or Levi's. Women: Dress or dressy pants, dress shoes. No flip flops, Birkenstocks, tennis shoes, shorts, sunglasses or other distractive accessories. No alterations to gown are allowed! We will all wear our gowns as they come out of the box to preserve the dignity of the event.

     *   Seniors: Reminder that graduation practice is Friday, June 3rd at 8 AM at the Mineral King Stadium. Please bring a pen or pencil. Practice is mandatory. Don't be late! Please remember, if you are planning on walking you must attend practice. Students not at the practice will not be allowed to participate in the event. You must also have all student fines and obligations taken care of to participate in the Commencement ceremony. No alterations to gowns are allowed and alternations to cap must be preapproved by Mrs. Calvero. Last day for cap approval is Friday, May 20th. Please pay close attention to the parking restrictions around the Bowl when attending graduation practice and the ceremony. Violators presenting safety hazards and not adhering to the parking restrictions could be cited and/or towed. *If you have any questions call Mrs. Calvero at 735-3502.

*         El Diamante High School Graduation is Friday, June 3rd at 7:30 PM at the Mineral King Bowl.  There will be 'metal wanding' at graduation again this year. Gates will open at 6:00 PM. Please: No balloons or noisemakers allowed at graduation to ensure all parents will be able to see and hear their student's name.

*         Hello El Diamante Students! There's still time to purchase a Yearbook. OLD ANNOUNCEMENTS:

*         A Night in the Enchanted Forest- Junior/Senior Prom is Saturday, May 7th from 8-11 PM. Ticket sales will take place before school, at lunch and after school in the Finance Office. You must have an ID card to purchase tickets and enter the dance. Tickets are $40 with ASB, $50 without ASB and $75 at the door. If you are inviting a non-VUSD student or 9th or 10th grader then you must complete a guest pass, these are available in the Student Services and Discipline offices. Guest Passes are due to Mrs. Calvero by Wednesday, May 4th.

*         Visalia Unified School District's After-hours Academic Assistance (AAA) will provide after-hours academic support through a virtual platform. This program is available to all VUSD students grades K-12 at no charge, four evenings a week. Homework assistance will be led by certificated VUSD teachers in all grades and mostly all subjects. The AAA program helps students with homework from content previously covered in class. *         Attention Miners! College of the Sequoias is partnering with Reedley College, Porterville College, and West Hills College Lemoore to offer the Jump Start Internship this summer. From July 5th - July 28th, students who are interested in industrial careers, will have training in electrical, OSHA safety, exposure to industrial technology careers, industry tours of local manufacturers, and more. Upon completion of the internship, students will receive $1,500. High School juniors (incoming seniors) are encouraged to apply for the internship. *         Attention 9th-11th Grade Students: Want to play a Sport next year? Sports Physicals are MANDATORY! El Diamante Sports Physicals will take place on Wednesday, May 18th from 12-3 PM in the GYM, free of charge. There is a Limit of 300. Pick up the Physical Packet from the Nurse or Student Services Office. You MUST turn in the completed packet to the Athletic Director in the Main/Attendance Office by Wednesday, May 4th. You will then be contacted with your physical time. NO LATE SIGNUPS WILL BE ACCEPTED.
