STUDENT NOTES

TODAY:

*         CAL FIRE will be presenting to 10th and 11th graders who are interested in a career with them during Homeroom on Thursday, May 19th. If you are interested, please complete this form<https://protect-us.mimecast.com/s/bB2NC4xyojSBXqPNfOF8nX?domain=docs.google.com> by TODAY, May 17th at noon. The first 50 students will be invited to their presentation. CAL FIRE is dedicated to the fire protection and stewardship of over 31 million acres of California's privately-owned wildlands. It also provides varied emergency services in 36 of the State's 58 counties via contracts with local governments. The program consists of multiple activities including wildland pre-fire engineering, vegetation management, fire planning, education and law enforcement. Typical fire prevention projects include brush clearance, prescribed fire, defensible space inspections, emergency evacuation planning, fire prevention education, fire hazard severity mapping, and fire-related law enforcement activities.

*         Attention Miners: XL conditioning for Football will take place every week Monday-Thursday at the green turf by the weight room.

*         We now have weightlifting available in the after-school XL Program. We will be weightlifting from 3:30-4:30 PM after school on Tuesday's and Thursday's. If you would like to learn how to weightlift, or would like to utilize our equipment in the weight room, please join Mrs. Panuco (Miss Emerson) after school on the designated days!

*         Attention Miners! XL will be hosting a College & Career Expo on Thursday, May 26th during Lunch in Lab 62. There will be Food, Desserts, Entrepreneurs, Career & College Information.

*         Seniors! If you attended Grad Nite and still need to pick up your Season Pass; please see Mrs. Gomez in the Student Supervision Office before school, at lunch, or after school.

*         El Diamante High School Graduation is Friday, June 3rd at 7:30 PM at the Mineral King Bowl.  There will be 'metal wanding' at graduation again this year. Gates will open at 6:00 PM. Please: No balloons or noisemakers allowed at graduation to ensure all parents will be able to see and hear their student's name.

*         Attention Students: Please remember to bring your fully charged Chromebook to school with you every day.

*         Visalia Unified School District's After-hours Academic Assistance (AAA) will provide after-hours academic support through a virtual platform. This program is available to all VUSD students grades K-12 at no charge, four evenings a week. Homework assistance will be led by certificated VUSD teachers in all grades and mostly all subjects. The AAA program helps students with homework from content previously covered in class. *         Attention Miners! College of the Sequoias is partnering with Reedley College, Porterville College, and West Hills College Lemoore to offer the Jump Start Internship this summer. From July 5th - July 28th, students who are interested in industrial careers, will have training in electrical, OSHA safety, exposure to industrial technology careers, industry tours of local manufacturers, and more. Upon completion of the internship, students will receive $1,500. High School juniors (incoming seniors) are encouraged to apply for the internship. *         Attention Seniors that attended Ridgeview: Ridgeview Middle School will be Celebrating their first Graduating Class! You are invited to enjoy breakfast and visit with your favorite Ridgeview teachers on Monday, May 23rd from 7:30-8:30 AM in the Ridgeview MPR.

*         Attention Graduating Seniors: EL DIAMANTE CLASS OF 2022 FINAL TRANSCRIPT REQUESTS must be made using the online Google form<https://protect-us.mimecast.com/s/f53pClY9olh2QjGJHLup42?domain=vusd.org> found on the El Diamante website under Student Services/Transcript Request: https://protect-us.mimecast.com/s/f53pClY9olh2QjGJHLup42?domain=vusd.org. *         Attention Seniors! Commencement Dress Code: Staff will check for appropriate attire before being allowed into the LJ Williams theatre graduation night. Men: Dress shirt, tie, dress shoes, dress slacks -- no denims or Levi's. Women: Dress or dressy pants, dress shoes. No flip flops, Birkenstocks, tennis shoes, shorts, sunglasses or other distractive accessories. No alterations to gown are allowed! We will all wear our gowns as they come out of the box to preserve the dignity of the event.

     *   Seniors: Reminder that graduation practice is Friday, June 3rd at 8 AM at the Mineral King Stadium. Please bring a pen or pencil. Practice is mandatory. Don't be late! Please remember, if you are planning on walking you must attend practice. Students not at the practice will not be allowed to participate in the event. You must also have all student fines and obligations taken care of to participate in the Commencement ceremony. No alterations to gowns are allowed and alternations to cap must be preapproved by Mrs. Calvero. Last day for cap approval is Friday, May 20th. Please pay close attention to the parking restrictions around the Bowl when attending graduation practice and the ceremony. Violators presenting safety hazards and not adhering to the parking restrictions could be cited and/or towed. *If you have any questions call Mrs. Calvero at 735-3502.

*         Attention Football Players - Spring Football Practice will start on Monday, May 16th, at 3:30 on the Varsity Practice Field. All current Freshman, Sophomores, and Juniors that are planning on playing football in the fall are expected to attend. *         If you are interested in tennis for the next school year and missed the informational meeting on Tuesday, May 10th, see Coach Harding in Room 914 to get info on summer practices and startup. Open Courts on May 24th-26th for an hour after school. Go Miners!
