*         Attention Miners! XL will be hosting a College & Career Expo TODAY, May 26th during Lunch in Lab 62. There will be Food, Desserts, Entrepreneurs, Career & College Information.

*         Attention Miners: XL conditioning for Football will take place every week Monday-Thursday at the green turf by the weight room.

*         We now have weightlifting available in the after-school XL Program. We will be weightlifting from 3:30-4:30 PM after school on Tuesday's and Thursday's. If you would like to learn how to weightlift, or would like to utilize our equipment in the weight room, please join Mrs. Panuco (Miss Emerson) after school on the designated days!

NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS:

*         Hello! We wanted to make you aware that this Saturday, May 28th there will be Saturday Academy on the El D campus from 8:15 AM-12:00 PM.  You can makeup attendance and improve your grades by catching up on missing assignments. We don't have any specific teachers or classes, but you can bring your Chromebook and have an open classroom to turn in missing work on Schoology or Edgenuity. Please email Mr. Abbott (mabbott at vusd.org<mailto:mabbott at vusd.org>) if you are planning to attend. But, if you just decide to show up without sending an email then that's great too. There will be a sign on the front gate telling you which classroom to go to. Please let Mr. Abbott know if you have any questions or concerns.  Hope to see you there!

*         Attention all Lady Miners who are returning or interested in joining the Miners Varsity Girls Golf team for the upcoming 2022 Season. We will be having a Meeting on Tuesday May 31st at 3:45 PM in Room 309 to Meet the New Varsity Head Coach as well as go over a few things regarding the upcoming summer and season. For anyone who is interested in trying the sport for the first time you are more than welcome to attend as no prior experience is needed to come try out.

OLD ANNOUNCEMENTS:

*         El Diamante High School Graduation is Friday, June 3rd at 7:30 PM at the Mineral King Bowl.  There will be 'metal wanding' at graduation again this year. Gates will open at 6:00 PM. Please: No balloons or noisemakers allowed at graduation to ensure all parents will be able to see and hear their student's name.

*         Attention Students: Please remember to bring your fully charged Chromebook to school with you every day.

*         Visalia Unified School District's After-hours Academic Assistance (AAA) will provide after-hours academic support through a virtual platform. This program is available to all VUSD students grades K-12 at no charge, four evenings a week. Homework assistance will be led by certificated VUSD teachers in all grades and mostly all subjects. The AAA program helps students with homework from content previously covered in class. *         Attention Miners! College of the Sequoias is partnering with Reedley College, Porterville College, and West Hills College Lemoore to offer the Jump Start Internship this summer. From July 5th - July 28th, students who are interested in industrial careers, will have training in electrical, OSHA safety, exposure to industrial technology careers, industry tours of local manufacturers, and more. Upon completion of the internship, students will receive $1,500. High School juniors (incoming seniors) are encouraged to apply for the internship. *         Seniors! If you attended Grad Nite and still need to pick up your Season Pass; please see Mrs. Gomez in the Student Supervision Office before school, at lunch, or after school.

*         SENIORS: Please return Chromebooks, library books, textbooks and novels by Tuesday, May 31st. It is important to be completely clear of all checked out items by the last day of school. If you are unsure what is on your account, stop by the library with an ID card or class schedule to verify your checked-out items.

*         ATTENTION Graduating Seniors who attended Crestwood Elementary! Principal Debbie Peterson, Assistant Principal Steve Stahl, and all the Crestwood teachers are inviting you to walk the Crestwood campus in your Cap & Gown after graduation practice on Friday, June 3rd. You can even bring your graduating friends who didn't attend Crestwood!  So, come on June 3rd by 12 PM to walk the campus, talk to former teachers, and reminisce about all the great times at Crestwood! Please arrive no later than 12 PM in your Cap & Gown. We look forward to seeing you June 3rd!

You must include the COMPLETE MAILING ADDRESS for the college/university you will be attending. Final transcripts will be mailed out the week of June 13, 2022 after 2nd semester grades have posted.

*         Attention Seniors! Commencement Dress Code: Staff will check for appropriate attire before being allowed into the LJ Williams theatre graduation night. Men: Dress shirt, tie, dress shoes, dress slacks -- no denims or Levi's. Women: Dress or dressy pants, dress shoes. No flip flops, Birkenstocks, tennis shoes, shorts, sunglasses or other distractive accessories. No alterations to gown are allowed! We will all wear our gowns as they come out of the box to preserve the dignity of the event.

     *   Seniors: Reminder that graduation practice is Friday, June 3rd at 8 AM at the Mineral King Stadium. Please bring a pen or pencil. Practice is mandatory. Don't be late! Please remember, if you are planning on walking you must attend practice. Students not at the practice will not be allowed to participate in the event. You must also have all student fines and obligations taken care of to participate in the Commencement ceremony. No alterations to gowns are allowed and alternations to caps must have been preapproved by Mrs. Calvero. Please pay close attention to the parking restrictions around the Bowl when attending graduation practice and the ceremony. Violators presenting safety hazards and not adhering to the parking restrictions could be cited and/or towed. *If you have any questions call Mrs. Calvero at 735-3502.

*         Attention Football Players - Spring Football Practice will start on Monday, May 16th, at 3:30 on the Varsity Practice Field. All current Freshman, Sophomores, and Juniors that are planning on playing football in the fall are expected to attend. *         If you are interested in tennis for the next school year and missed the informational meeting on Tuesday, May 10th, see Coach Harding in Room 914 to get info on summer practices and startup. Open Courts on May 24th-26th for an hour after school. Go Miners!
