Congratulations to our Golden West Football Team for advancing to the Valley Championship Game. We will be hosting the game against CVC at 7:00pm on Friday, December 1st. Come out and support our boys by wearing your best school spirit gear.  Tickets will be sold here in the front office all week until Friday @ 1:30 pm. Tickets will be $8 for adults and $6 for all students. (Cash only and no ASB discount is accepted per CIF rules.).

Blazer Spirit shirts are available in the Student Store for $9!  Show your Blazer Pride!

Parents and Students:

Please join us for a Human Trafficking overview including the   Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children from a local perspective.  The Tulare County Human Trafficking Task Force will be presenting as a collaborative team which includes: the District Attorney's Office, Family Services of Tulare County and Child Welfare Services. This is a great opportunity to learn how to identify Human Trafficking in our community and what is being done to Prevent, Protect and Prosecute. Wednesday, November 29, 2017 Rotary Theater: 330 S. Dollner St. Visalia, CA 93291 Event 6:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. Doors Open at 6:00 p.m. Target Audience: 7-12 Students and Parents.
It's Poinsettia Time! Last day is Tuesday! Golden West Choirs are selling beautiful poinsettias for the holiday season. These beautiful plants are grower direct and do not disappoint. Each plant sells for $12 and comes in a festive 6" gold foil wrapped pot. Pre-Sale only, these flowers make great gifts, festive decorations and are a must for this holiday season. Adopt a Star begins Tuesday, November 28 in Room L20 (ASB Room) at Lunch ONLY until all stars are adopted.  Instructions will be provided.  All gifts must be returned wrapped with the star attached on Tuesday through Thursday, December 5 - 7 during Lunch ONLY.

WINTER FORMAL TICKETS ARE ON SALE in the Finance Office before school, during lunch, and after school.  Single sale tickets cost $20 with an ASB Sticker, $30 without an ASB sticker, and $40 at the door.  The dance is Saturday, December 2 from 8:00 - 11:00 PM at Mt. Whitney High School.

Ablaze club is collecting toiletries (shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, etc.) for the Bethlehem Center.  These items will be given to the homeless population in Visalia.  Donations can be dropped off in room E-9.

We would like to inform you of a great new program! We now have the "Ivanhoe Computer Lab" for VUSD students living in the Ivanhoe area open. The Lab is set up in the Ivanhoe Elementary School Multipurpose Room. It is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6pm to 8pm. It is a space for students to access computers or the Internet to work on homework, research or school projects.

The north access road is to be used by school busses ONLY between the hours of 6am and 4pm.

Harvest dance pictures are in!!! Please stop by the attendance office before school during lunch and after school to pick them up.

GW Decals are available to order through the PTA. Pick up an order form in the front office. What a great way to show your Blazer Pride!

Athletics:

Freshman Baseball: Freshman baseball players will meet at lunch on Thursday November 30th in P3. If you are in a winter sport come by so we can discuss the upcoming season. Pizza will be provided.

Athletic Clearance: Golden West is now offering online student - athletic clearance through Family ID.  This is a secure and user friendly way to register for our athletic clearance.  All information can be found on the Golden West website .....trailblazerathletics.com then click on Student Athletic Clearance tab.   This form of clearance will now be mandatory along with a current physical.
Counseling Dept.:
ATTN JUNIORS & SENIORS:  A representative from Grand Canyon University (GCU) will be on campus Tues. Nov. 28 at 1:30 p.m. in B-1.  Grand Canyon University has D1 athletic programs and over 190 majors to choose from.  With new classroom buildings, popular dining options, state-of-the-art athletic facilities and so much more, the GCU campus is the perfect place to attend college. With GCU's four-credit courses and fast-track options, you can also graduate faster, allowing you to enter the workforce soon - and with less debt.

If you miss out on any of our college workshops you can still get help filling out your FAFSA or any College application, in the XL after school program.  Our College & Career Ambassador, Alyssa Santana is available after school in the library.

ATTENTION JUNIOR & SENIOR BOYS: Boy counselors are need for Scicon.  You MUST be in good academic standing, C average or better, Good Discipline and Attendance record and be a good role model.  Please see Mrs. McIntosh in the Counseling Dept.

AP students and parents: Please refer to the AP documents (http://www.vusd.org/webpages/gwhscounseling/ap.cfm) for information regarding the fees, dates, and deadlines for 2017 AP exams.  You may also obtain forms for Fee Waivers and/or your one free AP exam provided by VUSD.  We also accept payments via credit card online at the GW webstore!  (http://webstores.activenetwork.com/school-software/golden_west_high_sch/).  March 2nd is the absolute last day to pay for AP Exams!

ATTN SENIORS: The 2018-19 College of the Sequoias Scholarship Application is now available!  By filling out this one application you are open to hundreds of scholarships opportunities at COS.  COS gave over $400,000 in scholarships last year. Don't miss out!!  See the Golden West Scholarship page to apply.  The application deadline is TODAY, November 27, 2017.

Clubs:

Anime Club is meeting every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday in S-1 (lunch). You do not need to attend all three days to be a member. Grab you lunch and join the fun!

XL Program:

ATTN SENIORS PLANNING ON ATTENDING A California State University (CSU): If you missed the CSU workshop you can still get help in the XL after school program.  Our College & Career Ambassador, Angela Santana is available after school in the library.  Application deadline is Nov. 30, 2017 for fall of 2018.
