Parents and Students:

Fall Sing - Concert Under The Stars is coming Tuesday, October 17 GW Choirs and Soloists. More information to come.

Seniors! Your senior quotes and Senioralities are due this Friday October 6th. Remember to turn the papers into your English teacher. All quotes must be school appropriate, any student who submits an inappropriate quote will not receive a quote in the yearbook. If you have any questions, feel free to stop by room A-11 at lunch.

Musical Auditions are rapidly approaching! If you are interested in auditioning for the school musical or want to work behind the scenes there is a MANDATORY meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 18th in room M-1 during lunch. You must attend this meeting if you want to be a part of the school musical. The musical this year is Disney's The Little Mermaid. For questions or concerns please contact Mr. Anders in M-1 before school or by email randers at vusd.org<mailto:randers at vusd.org>. Look forward to seeing all of you there!

Make up pictures are in. Please come to the attendance office during lunch and after school to pick them up.

Military Appreciation Week is October 2-6 at Golden West High School.   The Army, Navy, Air force and Marines will be present on campus all week. We will have lunch time activities Monday-Thursday and a ceremony at the game Friday Night!

ATTENTION ALL PARENTS AND STUDENTS: Students are not allowed to walk through the Visalia Adult School Parking Lot or Campus. Parents please do not pick up students at the Visalia Adult School. Students may be sited for trespassing or loitering.

Golden West One Acts are here!!! "21 Problems and the Acts Ain't One" opens next week at the Rotary Theatre. Shows are Wednesday 10/4 at 7:30pm, Thursday 10/5 at 7:30pm and Saturday 10/7 at 7:30pm and 2pm. Tickets are available in the Finance office now, $5 for students and $8 for adults! Come get your tickets today and support the Golden West Drama program!

GRAD NITE TICKETS will go on sale in the month of February 2018.  The cost will be $195.

Miss Tulare County Scholarship Pageant Will be holding their Mandatory Meet & Greet Wednesday, October 25, 2017, 6:00 p.m. at the Visalia Lamp Liter Inn.  4 Crowns, 4 titles, $25,000 in cash & Scholarships, gifts from the community, and more. Golden West FFA Alumni will be hosting their 2nd Annual Harvest Moonshine Dinner & Dance. Saturday, October 21, 2017 @ Ritchie Barn, Visalia, starting at 5:30 p.m. Tickets for the event are $40, which includes a New York Steak Dinner. Athletics:

Girls Soccer: Mandatory soccer try outs Monday-Thursday at 5:00 PM

Counseling Dept.:

Do you want to go to college for free? Do you have a GPA of 3.8 or higher? If so, you might be eligible to apply for the Smittcamp Family Honors College! There will be an informational session in room S-4 (Miss Harmon's room) this Thursday, October 5th at lunch. Students of all years are welcome to come and learn about this amazing opportunity!

US Academy Night: Academy Night is approaching. Academy night will provide students and parents with information on the appointment and nomination process for those students interested in attending a United States Service academy (Air Force, Merchant Marine, Army, or Naval academies). The event is hosted by Congressman Devin Nunes, and will be held Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at the Clovis Unified School District Professional Development Building (1680 David E. Cook Way, Clovis, CA). To RSVP please complete and return the RSVP form, which is located in the GWHS Counseling Office, Presentation Binder, by October 13th, 2017.

Seniors:  The Comcast Scholarship Application is now open.  Students must email Ms. Waters (counselor) in order to gain access to the application, which will be completed online via a Google Classroom format.   Applicants must meet the following criteria: minimum 2.8 GPA, demonstrate leadership abilities in school activities or through work experiences, strong commitment to and involvement in community service, and plan to attend an accredited college. One GWHS student will be selected for this $1,000 scholarship. The application includes (1) Demographic information, (2) activity record, and (3) one-page essay.  The deadline to submit the application is 10/20/17 at 3:30 PM. Late applications will NOT be accepted. If you have any additional question please see Ms. Waters in the Counseling Office.

Clubs:

We are kicking off FCA TODAY, Thursday! Grab a friend or two, head over to room A-1 and let us treat you to lunch. You be well fed, as well as, encouraged and challenged in your faith by former GW Athletic Director Tom Buckley.

GDub Car Club will meet on this Thursday, October 5 in the Choir Room M-1. Bring your lunch. Discussions of club events and upcoming local car shows.
