Golden West presents "Little Mermaid" Show times: April 12th & 13th, 7:30pm, April 14th @ 2pm/7:30pm. Tickets will be on sale at the Golden West Finance office before school, during lunch and after school. Tickets are $10 for students and $12 for adults. We have a special VIP ticket that includes a backstage character experience and reserved seating available for purchase!  You may also order tickets @ our webstore with a small convenience fee. New Announcements:
Superintendent Todd Oto and Assistant Superintendent Robert Gröeber are scheduled to attend the GWHS PTA Meeting on Monday, April 9, at 6 p.m. in Room B1 to share information on district/site facilities needs and to gather input on a potential bond.  Parents, staff, and the community are invited to attend.
April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month.

*Spring is upon us and the winter months are coming to an end.  This means that the end of the beanie season has come.  This Friday will be the last day that beanies will be permitted.  Please avoid a dress code violation by no longer bringing or wearing beanies on campus.

Fresno States College of Engineering is inviting students to their Summer Engineering Experience which will be held on June 25-29 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Students will experience, Geomatics, Science, Construction Management, Robotics, Electronics and more!  Students will learn hands-on and will participate in many activities, competitions and a field trip.  The cost to attend this one week event is $200.  The deadline to apply for this program is April 13, 2018.

Seniors: If you were unable to pick up your cap and gown order when they were first delivered, please come into the office and see Mrs. Cabasa. You may only pick up your items before school, during lunch and afterschool.

Seniors: Grad Nite tickets have already been ordered and paid for.  Please be mindful that this trip is a privilege. If you lose your privilege of going on this trip, you will not be refunded your money.

ATTN:  SOPHOMORES & JUNIORS: The Chicano Latino Youth Leadership Project is now accepting applications for their 2018 summer high school programs!  Students are eligible to apply to BOTH: Sacramento Leadership Conference (a week long program in Sacramento) & San Joaquin Valley Institute (a three day program at Fresno State).  Program participants attend powerful workshops and seminars that will enhance leadership skills, academic preparedness, self-esteem, cultural awareness, and understanding of state and local government.  Travel, housing, and meals are provided. Please see Mrs. McIntosh in the counseling department for an application.  DEADLINE to apply is April 11, 2018

Golden West Illusions Dance Team and Advanced Dance Auditions are right around the corner! Workshops to learn the dance and technique you'll be judged on will be held Monday April 16 from 7:00-8:00 PM and Tuesday April 17 from 3:30-4:30. Auditions will be held Thursday April 19 beginning at 4:30 PM. ALL workshops and auditions will be held in the Golden West dance studio. Stop by the dance studio after Spring Break for an audition packet and to sign up for your audition time.

Older Announcements:

Registration is now open for the 4th annual Visalia River Run 5k and 10k! Go to active.com and search Visalia River Run or get a paper registration form from any band or orchestra student. Now is the best time to register because prices go up by $5 in April. All registration includes a race t-shirt, finisher's medal, race bib with timing chip, race pictures, and snacks and water. All proceeds go to the GW Band and Orchestra.

Please be aware that we will start with Tardy Sweeps immediately.  In order to avoid after school detention due to being caught in a tardy sweep please make sure that you are in your classroom prior to the tardy bell ringing.

Saturday University will take place the following Saturday's:
  April 14, 21, 28                     May 5, 12, 19

Seniors - register in the google classroom to secure your place and a meal. All students - SU is a great way to get that extra help you might need. Register in the google classroom. Teachers/Coaches/Advisors - Spring is a busy time for testing, sports, and club events. This is a perfect opportunity to provide that extra student help.

Clubs:
FCA: FCA Thursdays! Grab a friend or two then head on over to room A-1.

Blazer Buddies Club: We meet every Wednesday during lunch in P-4. New members are   welcome!

Anime Club: We will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays at lunch. Join up in S-1.

GSA Club: GSA club meets every Thursday during lunch in A-9. New members always welcome!

Creative Writing Club: Let's face it, writing can sometimes be tedious and challenging, but there are many people that would love a time and place to express their creative thoughts! Come on by and enjoy your love for writing with other like-minded friends! The Creative Writing Club is open to everyone and will meet Wednesdays in E-6 during lunch.

XL Program:

Golden West ProYouth XL Program will be taking students on a College Campus Tour of CSU Monterey Bay on Tuesday April 17th, 2018! There will be a mandatory meeting for the CSU Monterey Bay trip on Tuesday April 10th, 2018 in the GWHS Library.  The meeting will be at 3:30 pm and students must attend to be considered to go on the trip. XL has Afterschool Intervention available every Wednesday and Thursday in E-10 from 3:30-4PM for students who have detention that needs to be served.
