It's time for Sports Physicals! If you plan to participate in sports next year come to the nurse or the office for your Sports Physical Packet! Sports physicals will be offered at GW on May 17th for $2.00. The paperwork and $2.00 MUST be turned into the school nurse no later than May 11th to participate.
GW Color Guard auditions are here! Workshops to learn the choreography and technique for the audition will be held on Monday, April 30th and Tuesday, May 1st. The final audition will be held on Thursday, May 3rd. All workshops and auditions will be in the band room (M5). Please visit Mr. McFarlane in room M5 if you have any questions.
There are only four (4) more opportunities for Saturday University.
Upcoming events that might benefit from additional classroom support:
AP tests, Finals, Prom preparation, Class Projects, Ag events, Athletic Conditioning, Clubs/Services..... If you work on it during regular school hours and could use more time.... Come out on Saturday. Email Ms. Carlson for details (time, pay, expectations).
Seniors: You have 4 chances to improve your attendance to WALK AT GRADUATION.
Show up at 8am in the cafeteria - don't be late. Attending all 4 could fix 4 full days of absences!!! Register on Google Classroom if you want a meal. Otherwise - show up!
Remaining dates: April 28th, May 5, May 12, May 19
Prom is on May 12th - you can attend both. These is plenty of time.
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY: If you enjoy Gospel music, Visalia Convention and Visitors Bureau has an excellent way for you to earn volunteer hours. Volunteer hours look great on college and scholarship applications. Volunteers are needed after school May 3-4 and on Saturday May 5. Students are welcome to see Mrs. Roberson in MA-3 if they have questions about the event or what they would be doing as a volunteer. Attention Juniors and Seniors: THE JUNIOR/SENIOR PROM "Una Bella Notte a Venezia" (A Beautiful Night in Venice) is Saturday, May 12 from 8 - 11 PM at the Visalia Convention Center! Tickets will be on sale starting May 7. Prices are $25 single ticket with ASB; $35 single ticket w/o ASB; $45 single ticket at the door. Sales are in the finance office before school, during lunch, and after school. You Must have your Student I.D. to purchase your ticket also a dance agreement if you have not turned one in this school year. If your date to the PROM is not currently a Junior or Senior you must have an approved guest pass for them to purchase a ticket. Also, if your date is not a VUSD student you must have an approved guest pass in order for your guest to attend the dance. Guest passes may be picked up in the Finance Office and must be turned back in to Mr. Cobarruvias by Wednesday, May 9 by 4:00 pm in order to get it approved. Remember that you must be clear of all obligations in order to be eligible to purchase a ticket.
Prom flowers are now available for purchase in the Ag department. Pre-sale corsages and boutonniere will be available until Wednesday, May 2. Order forms and ribbon color swatches are located outside of AG-3. Please turn in orders no later than 3:30 PM on May 2.
Seniors: Grad Nite tickets have already been ordered and paid for. Please be mindful that this trip is a privilege. If you lose your privilege of going on this trip, you will not be refunded your money.
Did you enjoy Little Mermaid? Do you want to sing on stage? Are you interested in building your singing voice? Are you looking for experience so you can successfully audition for the Spring Musical next year? If you are, then join one of our 5 Golden West Choirs. Hone your skills! Singing, Dancing, Acting, Sports, and Fine Arts all require cultivation of your talents. No experience necessary and the audition takes only 60 seconds! See Mr. Raheb in M1 for more information.
Registration is now open for the 4th annual Visalia River Run 5k and 10k! Go to active.com<http://active.com> and search Visalia River Run or get a paper registration form from any band or orchestra student. All registration includes a race t-shirt, finisher's medal, race bib with timing chip, race pictures, and snacks and water. All proceeds go to the GW Band and Orchestra.
Clubs:
FCA: FCA Thursdays! Grab a friend or two then head on over to room A-1.
Blazer Buddies Club: We meet every Wednesday during lunch in P-4. New members are welcome!
Anime Club: We will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays at lunch. Join up in S-1.
GSA Club: GSA club meets every Thursday during lunch in A-9. New members always welcome!
XL Program:
XL has Afterschool Intervention available every Wednesday and Thursday in E-10 from 3:30-4PM for students who have detention that needs to be served.
