The Golden West baseball program is once again selling Christmas trees and wreaths!  Simply fill out the attached order form and return it with payment to Brent Hall here at GW.  All orders must be in by November 2. Tree and wreath pick up will be Saturday, December 1 at the Varsity baseball field.

All Parents and Students:

Attention all students regarding TARDIES: If you have 4 or more tardies in one week you will lose off campus lunch privileges or be assigned lunch detention. To avoid these restrictions, please work to be ON TIME TO CLASS!

Failure to attend assigned Tardy Detention will result in loss of privileges. Example: Rallies, and extracurricular such as attending athletic events.

As of now students must have a valid GW student ID card to be allowed off campus during lunch.

The Golden West Musical Auditions for 'Singin' In the Rain' are coming up soon! If you are interested in auditioning OR crewing, there will be a MANDATORY meeting Wednesday Oct. 31st at lunch in M-1. Please bring your lunch as the meeting will most likely take all of the lunch period. If you do not attend this meeting you may not be considered for auditions or for crew. If you have any questions or concerns please contact Mr. Anders by email, randers at vusd.org<mailto:randers at vusd.org>.

Counseling:

A Representative from Fresno Pacific University will be on campus, Thursday, Nov. 15, 2018 during 1st period in the Career Center to assist with an Application Workshop.  If you are interested in applying to Fresno Pacific please sign up in the Presentation Binder in the Counseling Dept. to receive a pass to attend.

The Fresno State Ambassador will be available EVERY OTHER Thursday from 8:30 am to 3:00 p.m. in the Career Center for those students interested in attending Fresno State or any other CSU.  Her name is Liliana. Please sign up in the "Presentation Binder" in the Counseling Dept. if you would like to meet.

ATTN SENIORS PLANNING ON ATTENDING COS:  The 2019-2020 College of the Sequoias SCHOLARSHIP Application is now available!

This one, online application matches students to hundreds of scholarship opportunities. The application DEADLINE is November 26, 2018.
To Apply visit the Golden West Scholarship website and follow the link instructions.  Because this one application matches students to hundreds of scholarships this is an important application to complete.  DON¹T MISS OUT!

Athletics:

Athletic Clearance: Golden West is offering online student - athletic clearance through Family ID.  This is a secure and user friendly way to register for our athletic clearance.  All information can be found on the Golden West website .....trailblazerathletics.com then click on Student Athletic Clearance tab. This form of clearance is now mandatory along with a current physical.

Girls Soccer: JV and Varsity girls' soccer tryouts began this week.  All players must be cleared.  See Coach Neal in P-12 if you have any questions.

Boys' Soccer: JV and Varsity boys' soccer tryouts began this week.  All players must be cleared.  See Coach McCaw in E-2 if you have any questions.

Boys' Basketball- Tryouts have begun on Monday, October 29th.  Freshmen will be in the Main Gym from 3:40-5:10; JV will be in the Mini Gym from 6:00-8:00 and Varsity will be in the Main Gym from 6:00-8:00PM. All boys interested in playing basketball this season need to attend. Tryouts will be held Monday-Thursday.

GIRLS BASKETBALL: Try outs have begun. Be there after school ready to earn your spot on a team.  You must have your athletic packet set up and completed to enter the gym.  Practice starts right after school and ends at 5:15pm.

Clubs:

Diversity Club members: We meet weekly on Tuesday and Thursday during lunch. We are planning for guest speakers and upcoming fund raisers. Meeting starts promptly at 12:50 pm both days and meets in A-9, Mrs. K's classroom. See you there and new members are always welcome!

XL Program:

XL is offering Credit Recovery on Wednesdays from 3:30-4:30pm in B-8. However, attending Wednesday classes is not a substitute for Monday classes.

Hip-Hop Dance is happening on Wednesdays and Thursdays in the dance room from 3:30-5:30 pm.

Boxing on Mondays and Tuesdays in P-29 near the stadium from 3:30-5:30 pm.

Math Tutorials every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday in Mr. Lopez's room P-14.

Mr. Elsharkawy in room S-5 will tutor Chemistry and Physics on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Sports Medicine on Tuesdays and Wednesdays in the Trainer's room from 3:30-5:30 pm.

Weightlifting: There will not be weightlifting this week.
