Retake pictures are in! Come into the attendance office before school during lunch and after school to pick them up.
**This Friday, October 5th our Blazer Football Team will be playing against Redwood Rangers. The tickets will be on sale in the finance office all week.**
All students must bring your student ID card to the game.
Friday's football game will be football and cheer's SENIOR night and our annual PINK OUT game. Please come out and wear pink to help support the women and men who are battling or have battled breast cancer.
Moonlight Harvest Dance tickets will be on sale on Monday, October 8th in the finance office. Harvest will be held on Saturday, October 13, 2018 from 8pm-11pm, here at Golden West High School. Tickets are $15 w/ ASB, $25 without ASB, and $45 at the door. Get your tickets early to save time and money! You may only purchase your tickets before school, during lunch or after school.
Attention Students: As of now students must have a valid GW student ID card to be allowed off campus during lunch.
Attention all students regarding TARDIES: Beginning next week 10/8/18, if you have 4 or more tardies in one week you will lose off campus lunch privileges or be assigned lunch detention. To avoid these restrictions, please work to be ON TIME TO CLASS!
Step up Youth Leadership packets are due TODAY, Friday, Oct. 5th. #LEAD helps youth develop skills in communication, public speaking, character building. Remember at the end of the program #LEAD offers a summer internship with 240-hour paid work experience, working with local community professionals. The Visalia cohort will meet twice a month at College of the Sequoias. Applications are available online at www.cset.org/lead<http://www.cset.org/lead>, or see Mrs. McIntosh in the Counseling department. Turn in completed applications to Mrs. McIntosh in the Counseling Dept. This is a great opportunity to make a difference in our community and also get a chance to visit college campuses, don't miss out!
1. The Golden West One Acts are rapidly approaching! "A Night of Full Sends" will be performing Wednesday Oct. 17th, 19th and 20th at the Rotary Theatre at 7:30pm and 2pm. Tickets are $5 for Students and $8 for adults and can be purchased in the Finance Office starting Oct. 8th before school, after school and during lunch. Come on out and support the Drama Program! 2. The Golden West Musical Auditions for 'Singin' In the Rain' are coming up soon! If you are interested in auditioning OR crewing, there will be a MANDATORY meeting Wednesday Oct. 31st at lunch in M-1. Please bring your lunch as the meeting will most likely take all of the lunch period. If you do not attend this meeting you may not be considered for auditions or for crew. Academy Night is approaching. Academy night will provide students and parents with information on the appointment and nomination process for those students interested in attending a United States Service academy (Air Force, Merchant Marine, Army, or Naval academies). The event is hosted by Congressman Devin Nunes, and will be held Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at the Clovis Unified School District Professional Development Building (1680 David E. Cook Way, Clovis, CA). To RSVP please complete and return the RSVP form, which is located on the Counseling Dept. scholarship webpage or see Mrs. McIntosh in the Counseling Dept., by October 13th, 2018.

SENIORS: Reminder!! The Local Scholarship Application is due soon. The counseling department is extending the deadline to 10/7/18. If you want to be considered for many different scholarships, make sure your applications are completed by Sunday, October 7, 2018. Good luck!
ATTN 9th -12 GRADE GIRLS - The Soroptimist International of Visalia invites you to participate in the DREAM IT, BE IT Career support program. The Dream it, Be It program can help you plan your future. By participating in this program you will learn about career opportunities, setting and achieving goals, overcoming obstacles to success, and moving forward after setbacks. The program is limited to the first 50 girls to sign up. The next meeting is Saturday, Oct. 20, 2018 at the 210 Café, 210 W. Center St., Visalia. More information is located in the Counseling Dept. Presentation Binder.
PSAT: Don't miss out! We have a limited numbers of tests still available. The PSAT is a practice test for the SAT. Students who are planning on going directly to a 4-year university after high school should take this practice SAT. It is available for juniors, sophomores, and freshmen. The actual exam will be administered on Wednesday, Oct. 10 from 7:45am - 12pm. The cost of the exam is $16 and Mrs. Hunter is taking payments to sign up for the exam before school, at lunch, and after school and will accept cash and checks (made out to Golden West High School). PSAT Fee waivers are available for JUNIORS only and can take the test for FREE. Please see Mrs. Shaewitz in the Counseling office if you have questions regarding fee waivers or fee waiver eligibility.
ATTN SENIORS: The Fresno State Ambassador will be available EVERY OTHER Thursday from 8:30 am to 3:00 p.m. in the Career Center for those students interested in attending Fresno State or any other CSU. Her name is Liliana. Please sign up in the "Presentation Binder" in the Counseling Dept. if you would like to meet.
Athletics:
Girls' Basketball - Girls that are trying out for basketball need to be cleared and in the gym practicing on the dates and times posted. Come by FS - 3 if you have any questions. Practices are at the following dates and times. All returning players that are not in a current sport are expected to attend.

Clubs:
Diversity Club members: We meet this week on Tuesday and Thursday during lunch. There are some important event coming up and you need to be here to participate. Meeting starts promptly at 12:50 pm both day and meets in A-9, Mrs. K's classroom. See you there and new members are always welcome!
XL Program:
Golden West Pro Youth XL Program will be taking students on a College Campus Tour of USC (University of Southern California) and the Museum of Tolerance on Tuesday October 30th, 2018! This trip is free and is open to all students who meet minimum academic requirements - space will be filled on a first come, first serve basis. There will be a mandatory meeting for the USC trip on Tuesday October 23nd, 2018 in the GWHS Library. The meeting will be at 3:30 pm and students must have turned in a permission slip to attend. To be considered to go on the trip, attendance to this meeting is mandatory. Hip-Hop Dance is happening on Wednesdays and Thursdays in the dance room from 3:30-5:30 pm.
Boxing on Mondays and Tuesdays in P-29 near the stadium from 3:30-5:30 pm.
Math Tutorials every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday in Mr. Lopez's room P-14.
Mr. Elsharkawy in room S-5 will tutor Chemistry and Physics on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Sports Medicine on Tuesdays and Wednesdays in the Trainer's room from 3:30-5:30 pm.
Mark your calendars: We have PM Weightlifting, on Mondays and Thursdays from 3:30-4:30 pm with Mr. Decosta.
