Homecoming nominations are due TODAY (Friday, Sept. 7th) at 1:30 p.m.

Please hand deliver nominations forms to Mrs. Anaya in L-19

Freshmen!! If you haven't received your free t-shirt, Come to the front office and see Mrs. Cabasa. Make sure to only come before school, during lunch or after school.

Parents and Students:

Make up pictures will be taken on Thursday September 13th.

*If you have purchased an ASB card you must show your receipt at the time pictures are taken*

Dress Code: Please be advised that dress code will be strictly enforced.  Please refer to the student conduct code handbook for the dress code policy.

TULARE COUNTY COLLEGE NIGHT will be Sept. 11, 2018, 5:30-8:00 p.m. at the International Agri-Center.  Representatives from over 90 colleges, universities and specialty schools will be available to discuss their educational programs and their campuses.  Also, valuable informational breakout sessions on College Admissions, Financial Aid and Scholarships Opportunities will be offered.  For more information please visit tcoe.org/college night. Begin Planning your Future! This event is open to all students.

CLUBS:

Native American Indian club meeting to finish club business is on Tuesday September 9 at lunch in room FS7. All students are invited to join the fun. Maddy promised treats for everyone!

CSF APPLICATIONS ARE NOW AVAILABLE IN ROOM FS-4.  You must attach a copy of your previous semester report card (spring 2018 Grades) or a copy of your transcript to your application and pay $5.  Checks should be made to Golden West CSF.  Applications along with payments are due in ROOM FS4 on Monday, September 10 through Friday, September 14 during LUNCH ONLY.

Freshmen - For Fall Semester, you must have been an HONOR CJSF Member in Middle School or your previous school.

Anyone who is interested in becoming a member of the Equality/GSA Club there is a meeting today during lunch in A-9. We will vote for our Homecoming candidates, the new club name and what we want to do or sell for Homecoming. See Mrs. K in A-9 if you have any ideas or names you want considered in case you might be late to the meeting. Meeting will start promptly at 12:50, so get you lunch first and then come ready to vote!

JUNIORS AND SENIORS

A LEAD representative will be on campus, Wednesday Sept. 19 at lunch in E-4 to share about the LEAD program. #LEAD helps youth develop skills in communication, public speaking, character building.  At the end of the program #LEAD offers a summer internship with 240-hour paid work experience, working with local community professionals.  The Visalia cohort will meet twice a month at College of the Sequoias.   Sign up in the Counseling Office "Presentation Binder" if you are interested in attending the information meeting.

ATTENTION JUNIOR & SENIORS: Scicon Counselors are needed for the 2018-19 school year.  You MUST be in good academic standing, C average or better, Good Discipline and Attendance record and be a good role model.   Please sign up in the counseling dept. "Presentation Binder" or speak with Mrs. McIntosh in the Counseling Dept. if you are interested.  Our first Scicon trip will be Sept. 10-14 for Golden Oak Elementary.

Athletics:

Baseball meeting is on Monday, September 10th during lunch in FS-6.

Boys Soccer meeting is on Friday, September 7th at the beginning of lunch in E-2.

Counseling:

ATTN SENIORS:  The Fresno State Ambassador will be available EVERY OTHER Thursday from 8:30 am to 3:00 p.m. in the Career Center for those students interested in attending Fresno State or any other CSU.  Her name is Liliana. Please sign up in the "Presentation Binder" in the Counseling Dept. if you would like to meet.

University of Redlands will be on campus, Wed., Sept. 12 during lunch time in front of the library. The University of Redlands is a private, nonprofit, Southern California university offering more than 70 programs in the arts, humanities, sciences, education and business programs. Redlands also has, 21 Division III athletic teams, more than   120,000 annual community service hours, and over 100 club offerings. California Lutheran University will be visiting our campus on Thursday, Sept. 13 during lunch time in front of the library.  Cal Lutheran is a mid-sized independent university located in Thousand Oaks, which is halfway between Los Angeles and Santa Barbara. Our students are open-minded and strong academically, and our big focus is on helping them explore their passions and discover their purpose. We're best known for providing one-on-one attention because we believe that this one-on-one attention is what helps students identify and pursue that purpose so they can change the world.
A representative from Biola University will be on campus Friday, Sept. 14. During 3rd period (10:30 a.m.) in the Career Center.

The ASVAB test will be Sept. 12, 2018 at 8:15 a.m. in the GW Library. The ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) is the most widely used multiple aptitude battery in the world. Whether you are a planning to go to college, a vocational school, the military, OR, if you are just not sure what you want to do yet, the ASVAB Career Exploration Program can provide you with important information about your skills, abilities, and interests - AND help set you on the right course for a satisfying career! Sign up in the "Presentation Binder" in the Counseling Office.

XL Program:

XL Programming has started! We currently have Hip-Hop Dance happening on Wednesday's and Thursday's in the dance room from 3:30-5:30. Boxing on Monday's and Tuesday's in P-29 near the stadium from 3:30-5:30. Math Tutorials on Tuesday's Wednesday's and Thursdays in Mr. Lopez's room P-14. Sports Medicine on Tuesday's and Wednesday's in the Trainer's room from 3:30-5:30pm

Mark your calendars: We will have PM Weightlifting starting September 6th, on Monday's and Thursday's from 3:30-4:30 with Mr. Decosta.

It's coming on September 11th!!   Mr. Rodgers will once again be offering his EMS/Health Careers XL Class!  Start date is September 11th, so plan ahead as this class fills quickly...field trips and guest speakers!!!  Questions???
