Attention Students: Beginning Monday, September 17th students must have a valid GW student ID card to be allowed off campus during lunch.
The Student Store is stocked with Blazer Pride shirts just in time for Homecoming! T-shirts are $10, and if you're already thinking about cold weather, sweatshirts are $25.
Freshmen!! If you haven't received your free t-shirt, Come to the front office and see Mrs. Cabasa. Make sure to only come before school, during lunch or after school.
CLUBS:
CSF APPLICATIONS ARE NOW AVAILABLE IN ROOM FS-4. You must attach a copy of your previous semester report card (spring 2018 Grades) or a copy of your transcript to your application and pay $5. Checks should be made to Golden West CSF. Applications along with payments are due in ROOM FS4 on Monday, September 10 through Friday, September 14 during LUNCH ONLY.
Freshmen - For Fall Semester, you must have been an HONOR CJSF Member in Middle School or your previous school.
JUNIORS AND SENIORS
A LEAD representative will be on campus, Wednesday Sept. 19 at lunch in E-4 to share about the LEAD program. #LEAD helps youth develop skills in communication, public speaking, character building. At the end of the program #LEAD offers a summer internship with 240-hour paid work experience, working with local community professionals. The Visalia cohort will meet twice a month at College of the Sequoias. Sign up in the Counseling Office "Presentation Binder" if you are interested in attending the information meeting.

ATTENTION JUNIOR & SENIOR BOYS: Male Scicon Counselors are needed for the 2018-19 school year. You MUST be in good academic standing, C average or better, Good Discipline and Attendance record and be a good role model. Please sign up in the counseling dept. "Presentation Binder" or speak with Mrs. McIntosh in the Counseling Dept. if you are interested.
Athletics:
Softball: There is a meeting TODAY, September 17th @ 2:00pm (minimum day) in room M-1.
Girl's Basketball - Practices are at the following dates and times. Girls that are interested in playing need to get cleared and be in the gym. All returning players that are not in a current sport are expected to attend.

Election of Track Club Officers/ upcoming fundraiser for Track Club concession Football Game Sept. 28 at Groppetti Stadium. All Track members are required to work at concession stand. The Football concession window open at 5:00 PM so please be on time. The only members excused from concession are a Band Member/Color Guard/Football Team member.
Next Track fundraiser will be in the upcoming Basketball season time to TBA later. I will be at the stadium 4-days a week 3:30 - 5:00 this is an open stadium days you are invited to come and work on your events for the upcoming year, sorry I will be able to give you instruction during this period. I will host an all-comer 4-week free Hurdler clinic in Oct.
Counseling:
A representative from UC San Diego will be on campus Thursday, Sept. 20, 2018 during 3rd period. UC San Diego is recognized as one of the top 15 research universities worldwide, their culture of collaboration sparks discoveries that advance society and drive economic impact. If you are interested in attending this presentation please sign up in the Counseling Dept. Presentation Binder.
PSAT - The PSAT is a practice test for the SAT. Students who are planning on going directly to a 4-year university after high school should take this practice SAT. It is available for juniors, sophomores, and freshmen. The actual exam will be administered on Wednesday, Oct. 10 from 7:45am - 12pm. The cost of the exam is $16 and Mrs. Hunter will start taking payments to sign up for the exam on Monday, September 24 during Lunch. She will take payments before school, at lunch, and after school and will accept cash and checks (made out to Golden West High School). The tests will be sold on a first come, first serve basis and we only have a limited number of exams. Last year we sold out in 2 days so please come early if you want to take the PSAT. Fee waivers are available for JUNIORS only. All Juniors are encouraged to complete the VUSD- School Funding Data Collection Form to determine eligibility. See Mrs. Shaewitz if you have questions regarding fee waivers or fee eligibility. Juniors who are eligible for the fee waiver and can take the test for FREE. Please see Mrs. Shaewitz in the counseling office for a fee waiver starting Monday, September 24 during Lunch. If you have any questions regarding the PSAT, please see Mrs. Shaewitz.
ATTN SENIORS: The Fresno State Ambassador will be available EVERY OTHER Thursday from 8:30 am to 3:00 p.m. in the Career Center for those students interested in attending Fresno State or any other CSU. Her name is Liliana. Please sign up in the "Presentation Binder" in the Counseling Dept. if you would like to meet.
XL Program:
XL Programming has started! We currently have Hip-Hop Dance happening on Wednesday's and Thursday's in the dance room from 3:30-5:30 pm. Boxing on Monday's and Tuesday's in P-29 near the stadium from 3:30-5:30 pm. Math Tutorials on Tuesday's Wednesday's and Thursdays in Mr. Lopez's room P-14. Sports Medicine on Tuesday's and Wednesday's in the Trainer's room from 3:30-5:30 pm.
Mark your calendars: We have PM Weightlifting, on Monday's and Thursday's from 3:30-4:30 with Mr. Decosta.
Mr. Rodgers is once again offering his EMS/Health Careers XL Class! Start date was September 11th, so plan ahead as this class fills quickly...field trips and guest speakers!!! Questions??? Come to P-17 and check out the tentative schedule at: http://bit.ly/emsf2018
