Good morning Explorers, let's remember to have La Joya PRIDE in everything we do!

STUDENT ANNOUNCEMENTS
*       Campus PRIDE
Please be sure to come inside the gates on campus when you arrive in the morning.  No students should be hanging around outside of the gates either in the morning or after school.  This can cause a safety issue.  Thank you for showing your LJ PRIDE by following the rules.
*       Open House
Open house is tonight April 4th from 6-7:30 p.m.  Be sure to give your parents the flyer with your schedule you filled out during 7th period today.
*       End of Grading Session
Attention Students - There are only 3 school days left before the end of grading session 5.  Please remember you need a 2.3 or higher in all of your academic classes in order to promote to the next grade.  Take the time to meet with your teachers to make up any missing or low scoring assignments.
*       La Joya AVID Night
This Wednesday, April 5th, La Joya AVID will be having a fundraiser at Rubio's coastal grill on Mooney Blvd to raise money for their college visit to UCLA. All students will receive a flyer in their 7th period class on Tuesday, and extra flyers will be available at Open House. Please support our AVID program and head in to Rubio's on April 5th from 2 pm- to 9 pm, 20 percent of all proceeds from your meal will go towards our trip.
*       EDHS Girl's Water Polo
Anyone 8th grade student who is interested in joining the El Diamante Girl's Water Polo team please pick up a flyer from the girl's locker room.  Summer session starts June 5th, any question please contact Coach young at ryoung at vusd.org

Sports ANNOUNCEMENTS
*       Wednesday, April 5
Baseball and Softball are at Wilson (Exeter) dismissal time is 2:45,  start time is 4:00pm.

Track has a meet at Hanford High School, dismissal time is 2:00, start time is 3:30 pm.
*       Varsity Softball
Last Monday the Varsity Softball team beat CVC 16-0.  Emma Garcia pitched a no hitter and had 10 strikeouts.  Offensively, Laine Garcia (2 hits, 4RBI's, 1 run), Aaleyah Pineda (2 hits, 1 RBI, 3 runs), Isabella Amaro (1 hit, 3 RBI's, 2 runs), Madison Chamalbide (1 RBI, 1 run), Brianna Garcia (1 hit, 2 RBI's, 2 runs), Destiny Espino (1 hit, 1 triple, 2 RBI's, 2 runs), Kyla Rios (1 RBI, 1 run), Carla Saenz (2 runs), and Emma (2 runs).
*       Varsity Softball
Last Tuesday the Varsity Softball team lost to Green Acres 15-5.  Offensively, Kyla Rios (1 hit, 1 RBI, 2 runs, 1 stolen base), Aaleyah Pineda (2 hits, 1 run), Geneva Fernandez (1 RBI), Maya Bivens (1 hit, 1 run), Carla Saenz (1 hit, 1 RBI), Heaven Fernandez (1 hit, 1 run, 1 stolen base), Jayden Sanchez (2 stolen bases), and finally Anisah Beavers (3 hits, 1 RBI, 1 stolen base).
*       Junior Varsity Softball
The La Joya Junior Varsity Softball Team defeated Valley Oak, 6- 0, on Tuesday. The Lady Explorers were led by Pitcher Karlie Bilbrey who pitched a complete game. Offensive standouts were Bilbrey, Ariana Ruiz, Alyssa Lackey, and Emelie Lopez (2 hits); Jazilyn Vargas, and Alexandra Flores (1). Defensive standouts were Lopez, Lackey, Vargas and Bilbrey.
