Good morning Explorers, let's remember to have La Joya PRIDE in everything we do!

STUDENT ANNOUNCEMENTS

*       Registration
Attention 7th grade students, If you still need your registration packet or any elective applications for next year, please come to the front office.  All applications are due on the date stated on the application and registration papers are due to your PE teacher by Friday, March 24th.  Online registration will occur on Monday, March 27th in 7th grade PE classes.  Be sure you have gone over the information with your parents and know which classes you want to request.
*       EDHS Cheerleading
8th grade students, if you are interested in trying out for the El Diamante cheerleading squad, you can get an application from 8th grade office.  Applications are due to the 8th grade office on Tuesday March 28th by 4:00 p.m.  No late packets will be accepted.
*       PRIDE Fun Friday
Our next Fun Friday date has been changed to Friday, March 31st.  Remember to show your LJ PRIDE by keeping your grades above a 2.3 in all of your class, be on time to class, show PRIDE by not getting any referrals, and have no unexcused absences.
*       AVID Applications
7th graders: It's March Madness and College is on everyone's mind. You heard all the benefits of going to college during College Awareness Month. If you think you are ready, but need a class to prepare you for the college path, then AVID is for you. AVID is a college readiness elective that prepares you by learning how to take effective notes, being organized, supporting you in all your classes, and many other things that will have you ready for college when you graduate High School. Please get an application from the front office, or room 102. If you want more information, join us tonight at 6:00 pm in the Gym for AVID parent night.

*   Garden Club meets today after school.

Sports ANNOUNCEMENTS

The La Joya Junior Varsity Softball Team defeated JFK on Monday. The Lady Explorers were led by Pitcher Karlie Bilbrey who pitched a complete game. Offensive standouts were Ryleigh Rush (3 hits); Bilbrey, Ariana Ruiz, Emilie Lopez, and Alyssa Lackey (2), Jazilyn Vargas and LisaMarie Rendon (1). Defensive standouts were Vargas and Bilbrey.

The Varsity Softball team started the game against JFK with a 9 run first inning.  This was started by Aaleyah Pineda hitting her first homerun every for La Joya and Destiny Espino finishing the game with 2 run homerun.  The final score of the game was 14-0.  The team had a great day at the plate with 16 hits.  The following players had hits in the game:  Aaleyah (2 hits, 1 HR), Laine Garcia (3 hits), Maya Bivens (2 hits), Bella Amaro (1 hit), Anisah Beavers (1 hit), Madison Chamalbide (2 hits), Brianna Garcia (1 hit), and Destiny (2 hits, 1 HR).  Defensively, Anisah pitched a complete game with only four JFK players touching 1st base, and Laine played great defense at 2nd and shortstop.

*       Wednesday
Baseball and Softball have a home game against Divisadero, dismissal time is 3:10, start time is 4:00pm.
