Good morning Explorers, let's remember to have La Joya PRIDE in everything we do!

STUDENT ANNOUNCEMENTS

* Attention students - Interested in joining our school LEGO Robotics competition team?  Pick up an interest form in Room 203 or the Main Office.  Then, join us for a meeting with our coaches on Thursday, 9/21, at 6:30 pm in Room 203.  Bring your parents, too!  No previous experience is required, although it helps.

* It's time for a dance right!! Well this Friday Sept. 15th from 3:30-5:00, be ready  to SHOW YOUR GLOW! The first dance will be a neon dance. Tickets will be on sale at lunch this week for $5. There will be fun activities like Glow Bowling, Glow Pong, Ring toss, photo booth, face painting, Henna Art. Glow items will be for sale as well. There will also be tasty snacks like Jamba Juice, Ice Cream, Nachos, and PTSA snack shack. Don't be left out, buy your ticket this week!!  Don't forget to dress in green on Friday and for teachers to please give a PRIDE ticket for those showing spirit.

*Attention 7th grade students.  If you are interested in being a Student Body Junior Officer, applications are available in the Pathfinder Office.  All applications are due to the Pathfinder Office tomorrow, so don't delay.  If you have questions, please see Mr. Gridiron or Mrs. Sales in the Pathfinder Office.

*The "I need to see you" forms will be given to each teacher for their classrooms.  These forms are to be completed by students wanting to see Mr. Gridiron, Mrs. Romero, Ms. Trujillo or Mr. Ranieri.  They will be in each classroom accessible for students to fill out and leave in a designated area in the classroom.
*Attention all students:  We will be having a PBIS fundraiser tonight at Mt. Mike's from 11:00am to 10:00pm. 25% of the proceeds will go back to La Joya to promote Positive Behavior on our campus. Please be sure to present your flyer or mention La Joya to be included in the fundraiser. See you there!

*Please support our fall school-wide fundraiser in selling Gift Check Books.  Sale will run through Thursday 9-21-17.  The TOP selling 1st period class in both 7th and 8th grade will win a donut party! Top three sellers in both 7th and 8th grade will get to SPIN THE MONEY WHEEL! For a chance to win money!  Fundraiser money supports student activities such as school dances, end of the year celebration, 8th grade Adventure Park, fun end of the year school activities, and much more.   So sell, sell, sell!!!!
*Early Release Day
Today is a Minimum Day and students are released at 1:30pm.

*Attention 7th Graders!  Are you interested in having another elective?  We are now offering a Math 7 pre-first course.  Pre-first classes meet every day at 7:15 am.  Any student interested can pick up a Math pre-first schedule change request at any of the offices. Students interested in changing from pre-first PE to pre-first Math are also eligible to change.  All forms are due by Thursday September 14th.  Please see Mr. Waters in the front office if you have any questions.

*SPorTs ANNOUNCEMENTS

Students, are you ready to show your Basketball skills in a Hotshot contest?    If you think that you can (in 45 seconds), make more free throws than Dwight Howard,  make more lay-ups than Lebron James, and make more 3 point shots than Stephen Curry in a single game, then sign-up on Wednesday and Thursday during lunch, to play against Mr. Souza during 1st lunch and       Mr. Harrell during 2nd lunch on Friday.   The first 20 students who sign up will have the opportunity to show their skills!

Volleyball at home vs. Ridgeview, start time is 4:00pm.

Tuesday 9/12:

Practices

Wednesday 9/13:

Volleyball @ JFK, game time is 3:30pm, release from class at 2:15 pm.
Football @ Ridgeview, game time is 4:00pm, release from class at 2:45 pm.


Thursday 9/14:

Cross Country has a tri-meet at Mooney's Grove, start time is 3:45, release from class at 2:15

Saturday 9/16:

7th and 8th grade Volleyball is at the Buchanan Tournament, game times TBD.
