Good morning Explorers, let's remember to have La Joya PRIDE in everything we do!

STUDENT ANNOUNCEMENTS

*As of Monday, November 26th, students may be able to select a new elective for the beginning of 2nd semester which starts on 1/14/19.  There are currently openings in Choir, Band, Orchestra, and 7th grade AVID.  Students interested in AVID are required to fill out an application.  Applications can be picked up in the main office.  If you are interested in changing your elective, please pick up a schedule change request form from any La Joya office.  Signed forms must be returned to the Main Office by the end of the day.  Requests to change teachers or class periods will not be accepted.

*Pizza Sales
Athletics is selling pizza today, $2 a slice and $1 for a water.

*The Holidays are filled with such good cheer. How about spreading some of that good cheer to friends or staff members? AVID is selling Holiday Candy grams beginning Thursday December 13 th  though Tuesday December 18th  for the value price of $1.  Candy grams will be delivered Friday December 21st during 7th period; so make sure you know their 7th period teacher's room number. Make someone's holidays special - get them a Holiday Candy gram!!

*WIN Academy
Looking for something to do this Saturday. Come to WIN Academy. You can play board and computer games with Mr. Hefner, sign up with your team to work on your Turning Points in History project with Ms. Austerman, try Online Comic Strip Storyboarding with Mr. Saroca, get caught up in science with Mr. O'Brien, or get caught up in ELA with Ms. Moore. On top of that, attending helps you makeup an unexcused absence. Sign up through the La Joya website, and encourage a friend to sign up too.

*Calling all spellers.  It is time to show La Joya pride. This is your chance to show that you are one of the top spellers in the 7th or 8th grade.  We will have 2 spelling bees. One for the 7th graders and one for the 8th graders. Both bees will be held during lunch on Tuesday, December 19th.  Sign up for the spelling bee and get a special study tool.  Here are the ways to sign up. . . Sign up in Google Classroom, the class code (is your pencil ready?)  is myix98.  All lower cases myix98. You can see Mrs. Allen in room 503, or ask your English Teacher for the code, and sign up during class.  Once you are signed up, Mrs. Allen will share the study tool with you.

*1st Semester Finals Schedule
Finals start the week of Dec. 17th - Monday is a Regular Late Start Schedule with no finals.  Tuesday is 0 period and 1st period Finals.  Students are out at the normal time of 3:13 p.m.  Wednesday is 2nd period and 5th period Finals.  Students out of school at 12:30 p.m.  Thursday is 3rd period and 6th period Finals.  Students out of school at 12:30 p.m.  Friday is 4th  period and 7th period Finals.  Students out at 12:30 p.m.  Please try to have all appointments scheduled outside these times.  Food served before school and at break only.

*Hey La Joya students, are you going to The Snowball?! Tonight after school, will have our dance called The Snowball. It is a winter themed dance that will have many fun and exciting activities. We will be selling tickets before school, at break, and during both lunches. The price has been lowered to $3 dollars if purchased in advance, but if you purchase them at the door, the price will be marked up to $5. So be sure to get your tickets soon!

*Always wanted to see the White House or visit George Washington's home? Sign up for the DC/NY Trip! Time is running out! Financial assistance is available, but you have to hurry!


Sports ANNOUNCEMENTS

PE still has a number of sweatpants available for purchase.
Black sweatpants are $20.00 and we have 5 xl, 1 large, and 6 medium pairs available. The grey sweatpants are $15 dollars and currently we have 5 XL, 6 Large, 10 Medium and 4 small available for purchase. See any PE teacher to buy.

Any JV or V soccer players interested in attending Saturday WIN, December 8th for indoor/outdoor soccer drills & games, please let Ms. Beggs know to get you signed up.
