Goal Keeper Payton Diaz recorded 1 save & Goal Keeper Mya Rodriguez recorded 6 saves. The Varsity Boys Soccer team lost in a shootout 4-3 to Valley Oak. Florentino Ruiz scored the only goal in regulation. The JV Girls team tied Valley Oak 1-1, with Saleen Mariscal scoring the goal with an assist from Madison Garcia. The La Joya Varsity Basketball Team defeated Valley Oak, 45 - 30, on Wednesday. Offensive standouts were Michael Ramirez (9 points); Nick Nelson (8); Austin Watson and Tanner Anderson (7); Chase Farmer (6); Darren Fisher (3); and Henry Vidak and Joshua Cano (2); Kaleb Castanon (1). The La Joya Varsity Basketball Team defeated Woodrow Wilson, 42 - 39, on Tuesday. On Wednesday the JV Boys basketball team defeated Valley Oak, 33-14. Goals for La Joya were Jesus Martinez, Ralph Garcia, Noah Medina and Jaszper Malone. Coming up with saves in the goal were Isaiah Diaz with three, Jesus Martinez with four and Seth Taylor with four saves. Great job boys! On Wednesday the jv boys basketball team defeated Divisadero, 53-38. Leading the Explorers in scoring were Avery Conway and Joseph Diaz (10 points each), Noah Garcia and Elijah Martinez (7), Elijah Tamayo (5), Alex Hernandez and John Chavez (4), and Rylan Montgomery, Max Martin, and Cooper Schimpf (2). The Girls JV basketball team defeated Divisadero 23-7 on Wednesday. Sofia Perez led the way with 6 points, Kiersten Shade had 4 points and Katty Zhang had 2 points and 8 rebounds. The team played great defense and held Divisadero to just 2 points in the first half. Way to go girls The Varsity Girls Soccer team defeated Divisadero 2-0. Go to the La Joya website to register today! * Athletics Fundraiser Athletics is having a fundraiser this Saturday at the Applebee's on Akers from 8:00am to 10:00am. With the purchase of a $10 ticket, you will get eggs, pancakes, sausage, bacon and a drink! Half of the money made on Saturday comes back to the athletic program. Tickets can be purchased from Mr. Henderson this week, or Saturday morning at the restaurant. Give the family chef the morning off and bring everyone to Applebee's! Sports news On Tuesday the jv boys basketball team defeated Green Acres, 32-9. Leading all scorers were Elijah Martinez (8 points), John Chavez (6), Jared McDaniels, Joseph Diaz, and Noah Garcia (4), and Max Martin, Cooper Schimpf, and Alex Hernandez (2 each). The Varsity Girls Soccer team defeated Green Acres 6-0. Goal Keeper Mya Rodriguez recorded 2 saves & Goal Keeper Payton Diaz recorded 2 saves. Bella Flores scored 3 goals. Emelie Lopez, Nadia Garcia & Nikki Licon each scored 1 goal. The Varsity Boys Soccer team defeated Green Acres 3-2. Connor Caviglia, Florentino Ruiz and Gustavo Galicia scored. The JV Girls Soccer team defeated Green Acres 2-0. Saleen Mariscal and Jaydyn Villarreal each scored. The Girls JV basketball team defeated Green Acres 36-13 on Tuesday, extending their winning streak to 4 games. Sofia Perez led the way with 14 points, Kiersten Shade had 10 points, Ariana Alderete had 4 points and Maricela Moreno had 4 points.
