STUDENT ANNOUNCEMENTS


*  There is still time to sign up for CJSF (California Junior Scholarship Federation).  Please come before or after school, and bring your report card and $1 to Mrs. Gibson in room 101 or      Mrs. Allen in room 503!  Don't miss out on being a part of this prestigious society!!  Friday is the last day to sign up for CJSF.

* Cafeteria News
If you are interested in working in the cafeteria during lunch, please see Mrs. McLeroy in the cafeteria before school or at break.  Both grades are needed.

* Garden Club
Garden Club meets today after school.

* Saturday University
Explorers, don't forget to sign up for Saturday University, this Saturday. Enjoy playing computer and board games with Hefner, explore colleges and careers with Beggs, watch movies with Austerman, or catch up in ELA with Moore. Go to the La Joya website to register today!

*Would you like to be in the La Joya School Play? If so, auditions will be next Tuesday & Wednesday (January 30 & 31) afterschool until 4pm. You only need to attend one of the audition days. If you would like to audition, come see Mr. Morris in Room 301 to get your monologue and set up an audition appointment. Don't let your fear of auditioning keep you from joining our school play! Go see Mr. Morris with any questions you may have!

*ASB News
You picked it!!! With almost 50% of the votes,  our next dance will be a Hawaiian Luau. Thank you to the hundreds of students that cast a vote. The dance will be February 23rd . This will be our last dance, so save the date.

This Friday is our next rally.  In case you forgot, 7th grade won more challenges than the 8th grade....... Will 7th grade keep up their streak...... or will 8th grade settle the score. We will begin with our dress up day this Friday for the rally. 8th grade will be doing a "White Out", so 8th grade will dress in White. 7th grade will be flooding the gym in "Green", so 7th graders wear green. The grade with the most dressed out, wins the first competition. Remember 8th grade in White, 7th grade in Green.

* Attention students - Thursday, February 8th is the Academic Awards Night.  Letters will be going home soon to those students that have made Honor Roll with more information.  There is a list of all the Honor Roll students posted in each classroom.  If you think you should be on Honor Roll or High Honors, be sure your name is on the correct list or listed at all.  If it is not, please see Mrs. Sales in Pathfinder or Mrs. Romero in Magellan.


SPORTS NEWS

On Monday the jv boys basketball team defeated JFK 32-26. Leading all scorers were Elijah Martinez (12 points), Noah Garcia (6), Max Martin, Avery Conway, and Joseph Diaz (4), and Cooper Schimpf (2).

The Varsity Girls Soccer team defeated JFK 7-1. Goal Keeper Payton recorded 6 saves. Emily Yanez, Marcie Taylor & Ally Conway each scored a goal. Emelie Lopez & Bella Flores each scored 2 goals.

The Varsity Boys Soccer team defeated JFK 6-0.  Florentino Ruiz, Kareem Mohsin, Gustavo Galicia, Luis Diaz all scored a goal, while Connor Caviglia had 2.  They also took home 4th place this past weekend at the Rio Vista Tournament.

JV Girls won 5-0.  Madison Garcia, Bella Cabrera, Isabelle Gonzalez and Jenna Mitchell all scored.


Wednesday 1/24

All Girls Basketball and Soccer is home vs. Divisadero, release soccer players at 2:55.  Soccer starts at 3:30.  Basketball starts at 4:00.
All Boys Basketball and Soccer is at Divisadero, release all players at 2:30, Soccer starts at 3:30.  Basketball starts at 4:00.


Thursday 1/25

Wrestling is at Woodrow Wilson, release time is 2:15, match starts at 4:00pm.
