STUDENT ANNOUNCEMENTS


*WIN Academy
Looking for something to do this Saturday. Come to WIN Academy.  You can play board and computer games with Mr. Saroca, play Sports with Mr. Hunt, work on your Anthology Project with Ms. Austerman, get caught up in math with Ms. Mederos, or get caught up in ELA with Mrs. Allen. On top of that, attending helps you make up an unexcused absence. Sign up through the La Joya website, and encourage a friend to sign up too.

*ASB Officer Application Bulletin

7th graders- ASB Officer Applications can now be picked up! Are you interested in becoming a ASB Officer next year? Would you like to be the Activities Commissioner and run the rallies, or how about President or Vice President who have many responsibilities including making sure the daily bulletin is read to the whole school? If you would like more information about what it means to be an ASB Officer or how you can run for one of these positions- please pick up an ASB Application Packet in the Pathfinder Office, the Magellan Office, the main Office, or LM3. The applications can be picked now and must be returned no later than Thursday May 9th at 3pm in the Pathfinder Office. If you have any questions, please see Mr. Morris in LM3.

*Pizza Sales
AVID is selling pizza today, $2 a slice and $1 for a water.

* Attention all 8th grade students that selected Spanish as an elective choice next year for 9th grade.  El Diamante staff members will be at La Joya on Tuesday, April 30th to conduct a short interview to help with appropriate placement of students in Spanish classes for the next school year.  Please see Mr. Waters if you have any questions.

*Dress Code Reminder
As the weather begins to warm, here is a reminder about the Dress Code.  The Visalia Unified School District Student Conduct Code for grades 7-12 reads as follows:  Clothes shall be worn as intended and be sufficient to conceal undergarments which shall be worn and covered at all times.  See-through or fish-net fabrics, halter tops, tube tops, spaghetti straps, off-the shoulder and low-cut tops are not acceptable.  Other types of dress that expose bare midriffs or cleavage are prohibited.  Basketball jersey style tank tops with scooped front, back and armholes are only allowed if worn with a T-shirt with sleeves.  Shirts with cut-off sleeves are not allowed. Hoodies, beanies, or any head gear may not be worn within the classroom.  Cell phones must be turned off and out of sight.
*Attention 7th Graders:   It's not too early to start getting ready for college. If you want a class that can prepare you for college and help you get your best grades in all your classes, then the AVID Elective is for you. If you are interested, please pick up an application in the front office. AVID will be accepting applications up to May 10th   If you would like more information, please ask Ms. Morris, or Mr. C.
