Good morning Explorers, let's remember to have La Joya PRIDE in everything we do!


STUDENT ANNOUNCEMENTS

*Open House
Open House will be on Thursday, April 4th, from 6 - 7:30 pm.  Students and parents are welcome to visit teachers in their classrooms - there is no set bell schedule.  We will also have some wonderful performances from our Orchestra, Choir, and Band groups.  Tacos Galacticos will also be selling tacos, churros, and drinks, courtesy of our La Joya PTSA, from 5 - 7:30 pm.  We hope to see you all there!

*ATTENTION 7TH GRADERS! You can enroll for the 2020 DC/Jamestown/Williamsburg trip! There will be an informational meeting in Room 407 at 5:30 PM on March 28th. Bring your parents to gather information about this exciting opportunity!

* "Please stay tuned for an important announcement from the capitol:
This Friday March 29th we have a Mandatory Propaganda Rally to pay tribute to our dear leader of The Capitol, Mr. Hambleton, and to remind us why we participate in the mandatory Hunger Games Events. On Friday, if you wear your district colors and if you participate in our Mandatory Propaganda Rally The Capitol will reward you with lots of candy, wristbands, and t-shirts for you to keep as well as points for your district so that you can try to take the lead. We will see you on Friday wearing your district colors and may the odds be ever in your favor."

*Athletics is selling pizza today, $2 a slice and $1 for a water.
*Dress Code Reminder
As the weather begins to warm, here is a reminder about the Dress Code.  The Visalia Unified School District Student Conduct Code for grades 7-12 reads as follows:  Clothes shall be worn as intended and be sufficient to conceal undergarments which shall be worn and covered at all times.  See-through or fish-net fabrics, halter tops, tube tops, spaghetti straps, off-the shoulder and low-cut tops are not acceptable.  Other types of dress that expose bare midriffs or cleavage are prohibited.  Basketball jersey style tank tops with scooped front, back and armholes are only allowed if worn with a T-shirt with sleeves.  Shirts with cut-off sleeves are not allowed. Hoodies, beanies, or any head gear may not be worn within the classroom.  Cell phones must be turned off and out of sight.

* Congratulations to the La Joya "Odyssey of the Mind" team!  At the California State tournament held on Saturday, they came in 3rd place overall.  Team members are 8th graders Aubrey Brown, Riley Chism, Eavan Ford, Elaine Johnson, and Kevin Jolly, as well as Brooklyn Burch (who attends Ridgeview Middle School.)  We are very proud of them all!

*Cheer Packets
Cheer Packets are now available at EDHS student services offices, and the La Joya front office. Packets are due March 29th at place of pick up.  You must complete a packet in order to try out for the EDHS 2019 - 2020 cheer squads.  No late packets will be accepted.

*EDHS Dance Auditions
There will be a workshop held tomorrow, March 27th from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at EDHS in the Dance Room.  The audition will be held on Thursday, March 28th from 6:00pm to 9:00pm in the EDHS Dance Room.  Student must attend workshop in order to learn material to audition for dance team.  Students must complete dance packet available in the EDHS Dance Room or EDHS Student Services.  Students need to wear active/dance attire, tan or black jazz shoes, and hair secured out of the face.



Sports ANNOUNCEMENTS


All track athletes will be participating in a jog a thon this Thursday, March 28th. Students will be running for 30 minutes trying to raise money for athletics. Find a student to sponsor either per lap or a flat donation. Thanks for your support.
