Good morning Explorers, let's remember to have La Joya PRIDE in everything we do!


STUDENT ANNOUNCEMENTS


*Attention students.  All library books and textbooks are due tomorrow, May 23.  This includes History, Integrated Math and Spanish textbooks.  Everyone that has a textbook will turn them in with your History class on Thursday and not before.  Library books can be turned in at any time.  If you want to keep your textbook to study for finals you may do so but you must bring a note from your parents to the library.  You are responsible for the books that were checked out to you at the beginning of the school year.  This means that if you mixed up a book with someone else, even if you have had that book all year, you are still responsible for the original book.  That means you will be charged for any lost library or textbooks.  Students that do not turn in or pay for lost books will not be eligible to participate in the 8th grade Adventure Park and dance or other end of year activities which also includes 7th graders.  Start looking under your bed, in bookshelves, closets, and backpacks.  History books are a replacement cost of $160.50, Integrated math is $118.00 and Spanish is $78.30.

*Talent Show peeps! Auditions have been officially moved to Wednesday May 29th, still after school in the gym. This gives you all an extra week to prepare. You should come to tryouts with your audition memorized well, and music ready if needed. Use your time wisely and come out ready to impress.

* Attention 8th graders: Interested in a future career in the military?  Mt. Whitney High School will be offering a Cadet Core Academy program this fall.  This is a great way to learn more about the military, get help with your academics, stay physically fit, and start your future in 9th grade.  If you are interested, please sign up in the Magellan Office.  There will be an interest meeting on Thursday, 5/23 at lunch in Room 101.

*Band Dinner/Concert
Tomorrow, May 23rd there will be a Band dinner and concert at 6:00pm in the La Joya gym.  Come on out and enjoy some great food and awesome music!  Tickets are $6 each.

*Garden Club meets today after school.

*Memorial Day
There will be no school on Monday, May 27th in observance of Memorial Day.

*Congratulations to Tuesday's State Testing Raffle winners.  The winners for the state testing raffle are Eliana Gonzalez for 7th and Rylan Montgomery for 8th grade.   Please come to the front office after school to pick up your reward.  Show your PRIDE and be here every day doing your best for testing to receive a raffle ticket.
